Ratstar honestly looked a bit worse for wear himself; his light brown fur was sticking up at odd angles, and he was heaving as if out of breath. Upon seeing the Springclan leader approach, he gave her a small, albeit weary, smile and scooted over to give her room on the dry grass. "Yeah, I heard 'bout that," he replied sympathetically. "Is your clan doin' alright?" At Jetstar's question, he let out a huff of laughter. "Well, we're currently overrun by nasty geese, my senior Medicine Cat suddenly went deaf and was forced to retire with our other one barely out o' apprenticeship, an' Doestar an' Shadedstar have somehow come back from the dead an' neither o' 'em like me despite my best efforts t' be accommodatin'. But yeah, I'm doin' okay."

"I'm honestly sacred to death o' geese," Ratstar admitted, sounding almost ashamed. "Can't stand the sight o' 'em. An' they've only been gettin' more bold lately."

"Doestar's former Summerclan, two before me," he answered when Jetstar took interest. "But I'm surprised ya don't recognize Shadedstar; he says he's former Springclan. Was apparently as close as family to Doestar, which is why he came t' stay with us rather than with yours."

"I'll be sure t' let him know," Ratstar agreed, looking somewhat relieved by Jetstar's reaction. For some reason Doestar had the idea that the current Summerclan leader should feel threatened by the unexpected return; good to know he wasn't crazy for not being possessive about the position. "But I get what you mean; it feels like forever, but I've actually only been in Summerclan a very short time compared to it's total history; a water droplet to a giant lake. Weird how long the clans have been 'round, right?"

Ratstar sighed at that, rolling over to lay flat on his side and glancing upwards at Jetstar. "If anythin', I suppose it just goes t' show how resistant the clans are. They've been through hell an' back, but they're still kickin', ain't they? An' if it's too much, they adapt, like how Swiftclan was born from the forgotten Survival Clans."

Ratstar let out a snort. "Summerland? That's a new one. Kind of like it though." His tail whipped back and forth behind him as he thought about the question. "Honestly, I ain't entirely sure o' what I did myself. By all means I shouldn't have done this well as a leader; t' say I was under qualified would be a gross understatement. I didn't know anything 'bout clan life when Starclan called fer me. Though maybe that's jus' it; when ya live somewhere ya entire life, ya get your own ideas o' how t' change it for the better. I never made my own changes, I jus' asked my clan what they needed."

Ratstar lifted his head up front the grass. "Hey don' you compare yourself t' those whackjobs - Springclan ain't nothin' like them. Sometimes these things jus' happen, ya need t' adapt; flow with the current, as it were. Would it help if I send some warriors t' give swimmin' an' fishin' lessons? I know your warriors might not like the taste, but it ain't all that bad."

The Summerclan leader's gaze drifted out towards the lake. Jetstar was right, it did look oddly low. "Maybe that's why all the geese moved further into my territory," he guessed, shrugging slightly. "Do ya suppose twolegs are behind it? Or..." he paused for a moment in contemplation. "Maybe it has something t' do with Starclan."

"Sure, why not? I ain't got nothin' better t' do today." With that, Ratstar heaved himself back upright onto his paws, standing in front of Jetstar. He smiled at her, before glancing wearily back towards his own territory. "Also I'm pretty sure the goose flock is in the direct path back t' camp...an' I don' feel like havin' that sorta negativity in my life today."
