Role Play Starts Here!
Wintrystar started the ceremonies by announcing the new Pupil, Blackpaw, then moving on to the new student and their mentor and then finally the new warriors. She started with the other students in need of promotion and then proudly announced Pomegrantepaw, Deathpaw, Reapingpaw, and Skeletalpaw's new names before turning to her final child. "My daughter, Gardeniapaw, step forward.
Instead of Gardeniapaw stepping forward, her brother, Reapingnight, did, with a big, rotten smile on his face.
"Before my dear sister receives her Warrior name, I think there's something everyone should know!"
His voice rang out loud and authoritative and in that moment that tom really did look the part of the leader he always tried to play. Albeit shorter than all of the other new Warriors, his posture was perfect, head held him, tail standing straight in the air. The picture of confidence... and arrogance.
"Gardeniapaw... Care to explain just exactly what kind of relationship you have with Mothpaw of DayClan? Or shall I do it on your behalf?"
"Reapingpaw," Gardeniapaw warned with a hiss the moment her brother stepped in front of her ceremony moment. Reapingpaw was the kind of pretty boy with a punchable face, so a handsome trait that was bound to not last long. For a moment her heart seized, he was going to announce what she did, the reason that gathering, the takeover didn't work out the way her mother planned. Instead it was something else unfolding entirely.
"Mothpaw?" Gardeniapaw asked with some relief, "He's that dorky apprentice we met when we all went to DayClan to take it over when we were younger. You saw him there too. And no one's interested in whatever made up gossip you have so if we can just carry on with my moment instead of your stupid theatrics that would be somewhat forgivable," Gardeniapaw said before lowering her voice, "Because if you continue to mess up this moment for me you're going to find maggots crawling around in your nest Reapingpaw, go stand back with everyone else," She warned again. Everyone watch could feel the cold resonating off of her, the Classic Wintrystar trait, but her piercing stare to her brother was a clear resemblance to her father. "Step, aside." She whispered again, deathly serious now.
Unlike his sister, Reapingnight didn't possess the cold ambiance of his mother or the piercing glare of his father. When hit with both head on he couldn't help but falter. The young tom's ears flicked back and he felt his paws begin to tremble slightly, but it lasted only a moment, over so quickly that it was easy to miss.
"Empty threats like that won't work on me anymore," Reapingnight growled to Gardeniapaw before turning his head away from her to face the assembled cats. His nerves dissipated as soon as she was out of his sight, "Gardeniapaw has broken WinterClan's code and not only left the territory multiple times to socialize with this dorky Mothpaw, but she's even become mates with him!"

Oriolelei gathered excited as always for the announcements. Scaredbreath poked her head out the nursey secretly in much need of some entertainment from being trapped in camp but cooly sitting and leaning at the entrance like it wasn't a big deal.
Indigochill just happened to be leaving camp and was close enough to hear the call and chose to stay out of politeness. He was just waiting for the closing ceremonial chant so he could slip out when he was surprised to hear his name mentioned as a mentor for Jesterpaw. {training}Oh no kidding, it had been a while and while training might get in the way of his assorted hobbies he guess he could move his fermenting experiments back on his schedule. Still it would be nice to get them started before winter came and took most if not all the fruit he had planned on using.
Both Oriolelei and Indigochill were among the confused faces at Reapingpaw's interruption - Oriolelei had hung out with him once though and he seemed to adore his sister Pomegranatepaw so she just smiled wondering if it was a cute supportive speech from a shared hype man - what nice little kitten or so she thought. Things felt off when the two were mumbling to each other that cats in back wondered what was going on. Even Scraedbreath felt left out enough to quietly waddle over.
Finally the news broke painting everyone's faces with shock and surprise. Indigo couldn't believe one let alone Wintrystar's daughter would do such a thing; Oriolelei felt a sadness, a look of disappointment tinged with fear for the girl over their clan's judgmental ways; Scaredbreath's look quickly turned to angered furrowed brows and coldly imposing her opinion without even having said anything yet.

Roseshade watched with a rather unamused expression, only moving to touch noses with her new pupil. Blackpaw had shown a lot of promise, and even though she was going through her own difficult time she couldn't allow such a natural talent to go to waste. So after praying to the gods for approval, she had told Wintrystar of her intentions and made sure that it was announced in this moons ceremonies "We can start your training after you get a chance to speak with your family. Come and meet me in my den afterwards" Flurryofstars She watched the young cat scamper off, and just as she was about to return to her den, Wintrystar's son spoke up. Her eyes narrowed as she watched the proceeding, waiting to see how it all played out
Wintrystar was annoyed when her son spoke out of turn interrupting the ceremonies. But, her attention was caught with the words DayClan and a cat named Mothoaw. Just what was her daughter up to? Eyes narrowing, she turned her cold gaze in the two of them, waiting to see what information was to come forward and was by no means disappointed. Mayes, with an outsider?!?! She would not allow it, especially not if her own daughter! Wintrystar rose form her seated position perched atop the high rock, descending to stand before her daughter with her eyes narrowed and her claws unsheathed. She was furious and practically radiating her rage at such news. “Explain yourself!”
"Yeah Gardeniapaw... explain yourself," Reapingnight taunted with a big grin on his face. Now that his mother was riled up, it was only a matter for time before his sister cracked. No one would face off with Wintrystar for long.

"What a shame. She was such a bright and shining star for WinterClan," Rosemaryblight said to Indigochill with a neutral expression on her face. It was hard to tell what she was thinking but it was clear that she wasn't all that angry or upset, "I anything can happen if you spend too much time under a different God's skies, even if you're a pureblood." Blackpaw’s world came crashing down on him as the news about his position change was announced. Pupil? Him? It was the worst thing he could have been told and it froze him to his core. He couldn’t process anything else until Roseshade touched noses with him and gave him his first “order”. He followed through numbly, just going through the motions as he padded off towards his family. How would they react? He was nearly halfway to his siblings when the accusations against Gardeniapaw started. He would care if he wasn’t already distracted with his own issues. But he had the mind to stop where he was and try to hear everything unfold like the good WinterClan cat he was.
Snowflurry’s chest puffed out in pride as Blackpaw was named pupil. But as soon as he saw the look on his adopted son’s face he reconsidered his feelings. Blackpaw adored the idea of being a warrior and now he’d never get to be one... His ears came down as Wintrystar, Gardeniapaw, and Reapingnight began to argue. It was just one bad thing after another except the matter hardly concerned him. He glanced at Nightfreeze at his side. This would mean nothing to her either given that she had flings with cats across every border. Even their kits were from one of those flings. He watched her not-so-subtly, wondering how she was taking the clan drama as well as Blackpaw’s appointment to pupil. pao

/ "What a shame. She was such a bright and shining star for WinterClan" / "Yeah, but.." Indigochill seemed to hold his breath a second and heavily sigh it out not having an easy answer for this, at least not a likeble one. He couldn't agree with breaking the rules but this seemed more on the trivial side of things compared to the bigger rules. This also felt like something the whole clan didn't need to be here for - or at least he didn't want to have to awkwardly stand there during the chastising. An outsider as a mate just spelled disaster and a lot of inconvenience to him on a surface level so what the hell was this young and dumb kitten thinking? Yup, a dumb mistake, something she could be yelled at for punishment and that she could forget about it if she cherished her clan, and therefore not as serious to the tom who wanted out of this awkwardness. Still Rosemaryblight words stood out to him... /She was / "Still she's just a young and dumb kid - she'll give it up for her clan, you speak like she's already out the door territory. We should give her chance to explain herself, Wintrystar wouldn't punish her too severely...would she?" he told Rosemaryblight but realized he was left questioning what the leader would do as well. /anything can happen . . . even if you're a pureblood./ He didn't know if those words were right or not but they certainly didn't have to get rid of a perfectly capable and excelling warrior over it - did they?
"You speak like someone who's never had their heart broken, " Rosemaryblight purred, lifting up a delicate, silvered paw and brushing a tuft of fur away from Indigochill's cheek. She was suddenly very, very close to him, close enough that he'd feel her breath against his cheek, "No one suddenly changes their ways because they've been caught once. She may never see Mothpaw again but she'll never stop thinking about him. Her heart is corrupted and the one way to fix things is the hard way. I assume that's what Wintrystar is thinking, of course." Shadowbladeღ
Time slowed, like the clouds above, paced to the calm sky above, unmoved by the storm Reapingnight was about to rage against her. Even before he opened his mouth, said every bold sin she ever committed she never felt a flicker of doubt that her brother wouldn't do it. It was hard being a good daughter in this family, her role felt less of a birth right, more of a job she was drafted for. Somewhere a small voice inside of her told her to keep her head held up high, not to let that crown of hers slip even as her mother descended down towards her. She could see every part of her mother that made up herself. They had the same scattered cinder fur upon a base of plush snow white fur, but she was more ashen in the face while her mother was far more pale. She had her fathers eyes, but while hers weren't fearsome, they had a diamond like quality, an unbreakable stare that she held onto her mothers.
"I guess..."
Gardeniapaw stared at her mom, thinking carefully about her next words.

/ someone who's never had their heart broken / Those words made his thoughts come to a complete stop more than he as willing to let on and he had to do everything he could to not instinct look behind him to Scaredbreath. Was that true? It should've been, right? So why did he feel like.. and how could Rosemaryblight tell that from just - the sudden brush of paw made him tense at the violation of his personal space. It was an innocent little action that caught him off guard and should've just had him embarrassed and willing to laugh it off but he didn't even get to fully turn to her when she was in his ear with more words. He was like a deer in headlights next to her, wide-eyed with a look in his indigo eyes cloudy with concerned, sympathy and a sad realization. It should've just been that, so why did the she-cat next to him make him feel on edge? From normal and pleasant, to now feeling like he was the fly caught in a spider's web.
The (my) winterclan cats listened carefully to the brave words that were gonna come out of Gardeniapaw's mouth and were each stunned at her words unable to even imagine how Wintrystar was gonna process this. Well, they had an idea, more like if it was going to play out as they each imagined...
Nightfreeze was furious for her son, her body practically shaking in her place near the nursery. Pregnant with another liter of kits, she'd been confined here for a few moons now, but even she was not blind to her son's desire. A perfect mother? By no means, but she knew her son, even if they butted heads more than the worst enemies. Furious she nearly rose to her paws, but she barely contained herself. The mother would be having words with Roseshade about her choice in student before the night was over. The kits in her belly prevented her from moving quickly, of making a true scene by racing up to the high rock, but she'd say her piece, that much was guaranteed. Her ears were filled with blood and fury, drowning out the rest of the drama unfolding around her. She could cares less about it too. What was clan drama to her?
Her family was a symbol, the ideal image of what cats in WinterClan should be. Their blood may be mixed, but they acted the role of purebloods. Faithful, religious, proud, respectful, ideas of a pureblood family and one that is set high in the clan. Gardeniapaw had spoiled that image and taken a mate outside of the clan, shaming them all. If her own daughter wasn't expected to follow their customs then who was? She had no option but to make an example of Gardeniapaw. Wintrystar could not allow this transgression on her family's image to go unpunished. Cats had been disowned for less! What she was doing was a mercy her daughter should be grateful for. Especially after insulting her.
A furious growl ripped through her as she spoke, "a DayClan mate? You foolish child. Your father was a WinterClan tom when he became my mate, a drastic difference compared to taking one outside of this clan. He served his time as a prisoner, worked his way through the ranks and into the hearts of this clan. Gave himself full to the cause that is WinterClan and yet you believe that is the same thing! You foolish, foolish girl. You disappoint me. Have you learned nothing in this life?" She turned away, unable to look her child in the face anymore. "You take a mate who is not loyal to you, to this clan, he tarnishes your name and status as a loyal member of this clan. Where do your loyalties lie? With him?! I can assure you, his do not lie with WinterClan!" Stepping back up onto the HIgh Rock, she gazed around at the clan. They knew loyalty, they took mates within their clan, even if they weren't of full WinterClan blood as was ideal. It was still within the clan, it was still mates who were loyal to the clan. Not to a cat from another clan and their clan, but to the same clan as their mate. It made a difference in a relationship for one day those loyalties would be tested, kits would be born and then what would happen? It would be the blind dating event with DayClan all over again. They had just ended the war, lost it but it had just ended. would her daughter risk that for them all again?
Apparently so.
"Step forward Gardeniapaw." The words were a hiss, a sign of true disgust and disappointment in her own child.
"Hmm," Rosemaryblight most certainly noticed Indigochill stiffen up but was honestly let down when he didn't, well, do anything else. Boring, she thought, but didn't verbalize as she pulled away from him. The turquoise stone she wore around her next swung back and forth like a pendulum for only a moment as she repositioned herself and, just like that, the spotlight was no longer on Indigochill, her attention now on the chaos unfolding before them all. A creepy smile spread across Reapingnight's face with each insult that left Wintrystar's mouth. Everything was going exactly the way he had expected it to, no, it was better than that. He couldn't even remember the last time he had seen his mother quite so enraged and the target couldn't be more well placed.
Without Gardeniapaw in the spotlight, Pomegranatedecay would be the apple of everyone's eye.
Gardeniapaw didn't obey her mothers orders immediately, instead her stare shot right through Reapingnight like a claw reaching in and through the other side of flesh. She looked as though she were looking for something, searching for him, but even staring right at him she couldn't find any trace of a brother. But she was the traitor, he was only taking pleasure in hunting out a rat like her, displaying her treason like a prize he should be rewarded for bringing to their mothers attention.
Walking up to her mother she felt her paws began to tremble, what was she going to do to her?
Today was supposed to be her perfect day when Limelight was finally married. Now her proposal had fallen through and the clan wasn't even focused on her, but on Wintrystar's good-for-nothing daughter that had everything and was now throwing it all away. Her lip curled in disgust as the new warrior shoved her way through the crowd and stalked from the camp.
Deathreign's tail curled tight around his paws as he stared at the proceedings, his face blank. He was too tense to remember to look cool and unattached. Too afraid to run to his sister's rescue. Was she telling the truth? Why wasn't she pleading for forgiveness? Messing around outside of the clan was one thing if she settled down and accepted her mate now, but fighting for a tom from outside the clan was madness.
"Just say you're sorry," he whispered to Gardeniapaw as she passed, watching her pass with terror in his eyes.
Gardeniapaw looked up to see Deathreign, but quickly shot her gaze to the floor so her mother wouldn't notice her brother. Somewhere in the cold of her mother's aura she felt the warmth from Deathreign's overpower it. Everyday she felt she stood among family that never carried a warm feeling in their hearts for her, but it made her world to hear him care. Inhaling a breath, she made her paws still. All her parents wanted was a ice queen, ruthless. All WinterClan wanted was a loyal daughter of their leader. Living up in the ice and snow the desires placed upon her at birth were achievable, desired by her even. She had approval and to her the nod of approval, the success she achieved was a reflection of love. But in DayClan love was richer, sweeter... Forgiving and unapologetic. Her father had been a DayClan tom who found her mother more alluring than anything that DayClan had. A fairytale love, truly. Would Mothpaw have done the same and if he could, should he have? DayClan was his home, he would miss it on a level that she would never miss WinterClan. But seeing her brother reach out to her, she didn't want to lose everything she had in WinterClan... She didn't want to be sabotaged by Reapingnight.
Gardeniapaw bowed her head low to the snowy earth, "I'm sorry for my sins, I was foolish, please let me repent." And be with Deathreign...
“Gardeniapaw,…” she paused, surveying her daughter from her place in High Rock. “You wish to repent than here is your chance. You shall be banished for the camp until the next full moon. It is with hope that you understand the consequences of your actions, of attempting to tie a mate outside of WinterClan. Relearn where your heart belongs, where your loyalties stand and then return on the full moon and take your place among us.” Wintrystar did not gift her her warrior name as she had the rest of Gardeniapaw’s litter, but believed that upon returning from her banishment that her daughter would then be worth of it. She would wait, a moon should be king enough to learn ones lesson and then return more loyal than before. Yes, a moon and then Gardeniapaw could join her siblings as a full warrior of the clan.

"Oh, ooOoh no" Scaredbreath sighed seeing Nightfreeze angry waddle up and the diluted calico tried to hurry to her side. "Hey hon, Nightfreeze- maybe we can talk about this first?" she tried the typical passive approach, "I mean this is an honor." she tried to distract the queen knowing it was a 90% failure rate. They weren't even really friends, or even close in caste, they were just one-half of the current queens and well she already spent the past moon or two sharing a den with her, fellow pregnant-but-bored-before-the-kits-came-along she-cats and that counted for something. Besides Scaredbreath was usually the cat to talk other out of doing stupid stuff, and well the clan ways and Lord Borealis' decisions could not questioned or stopped by any cat. Nothing good could come from this, that much Scaredbreath was sure of. On a side note, she felt eyes on her and glanced at Indigochill who must've looked away at the same time. She had no idea why Rosemaryblight was talking to him - she was the embodiment of 'got a sweet face, but I only play villain, you never taste venom'. Respectable by her standards, so it made no sense why she would waste her time with her arranged mate - didn't she know he was stupidly naïve but still a cautious one? She faced Nightfreeze again. Well not her problem, it might actually make things easier if the tom disappeared so she could raise her kits without his obvious detachment.
- "Is she trying to get herself killed?" Indigochill mumbled after hearing Gardeniapaw's initial reasoning, and shook his head as he listened to spectacle unfold. Rosemaryblight now quiet, focused on something else and it was a strange relief - there was just something off with her. Catching him off-guard during such a serious moment when they're not even friends - it had him questioning her and finding something about her kinda unnerving in that regard... He doesn't know what her intentions are but she didn't seem to have interest in him for now, let's hope it stays that way. More importantly this poor girl was being banished...
- Oriolelei slipped next to Rowanstrike, "This is terrible" she whispered to him as quietly as possible. "Can we... is there anything we can do to help her??" her voice pleading with sympathy and heart ready to break for her knowing the likely answer.
