"Okay!" She was tempted to sing a sneaky spy song as she went, but that wouldn't make her stealthy like she needed. She kept low to the ground and stuck to the edges of camp, eyeing the prey on the pile. Mouse bones were so small they would surely break. There was a smaller crow on the pile and she would try and go for that, she darted forward, grabbing it in her jaws and hauling it away as fast as her tiny little paws could carry her with the bird. It was heavier than she expected

When her friend came into the painted tunnel,Joykit helped her drag it the rest of the way inside "SHHH" she whispered as she heard someone walking in "Joykit?" came the familiar voice of her much older sister Silverfringe. The queen often helped look after her younger siblings when Littlestar was busy

Silverfringe padded into the tunnel "Joykit, come on out I can smell you" but she also didn't see the kit anywhere. It was a dead end tunnel, so there wasn't all the many places for her to hide "It is almost time for the evening prayers, and I don't want to worry Littlerstar"

"I'll cover you," lunarkit whispered to her friend, using a paw to mess up the paints into a muddied mess as much as possible before popping a tiny, dirty head out. "Joykit isn't here. She was, but not anymore." The she-cat lied, blinking up at the queen with big innocent eyes.

"Oh really now?" the silver queen asked looking down in amusement "Well that is a shame. I was going to take all of you out on a little adventure before the prayers, but I supposed that she will have to miss out if I am unable to find her"

She shrugged, there was surely a way to lead the queen away so joykit could come along! "I'm sure she'll pop up before long." She assured the queen. If she managed to mix her paints enough she could even come out of the tunnel and play a prank on the queen!

Silverfringe shrugged motioning for Lunarkit to come along. She knew if she left Joykit on her own she would find her own way out "Then you will just have to take her place then. Let's go"

“To clean out your nest of course. Littlestar has a lot on her plate and you all are almost ready to become apprentices. It is time for you to start taking some responsibility” the silver queen ushered the kit out of the painted tunnel.
joykit squeaked… she didn’t like the dark, especially not being along in the dark.

She scrunched her nose, "How about I look for joykit to help? Cleaning is no fun by yourself," She looked up at the queen with big, adoring eyes. If she was lucky she would at least get a helper. Cleaning by yourself was no fun. Even if the queen said no she was going to make a run for it.

"Fine but I expect you both in the High Priestess den before the evening prayers working, or you will not like the consequences" Silverfringe was known for being strict with the kits of the nursery. While it was clear that she loved them all dearly, she also expected a lot from them.

"Yes, Silverfringe!" She chimed obediently with a cute blink to match. She wanted to clean off her fur before anything else because she looked terrible. "See you later!" She called before racing back to their hiding spot, not considering that the queen probably saw her disappear inside.
"Sun god help us, we are on cleaning duty," She groaned to the other she-kit.

Joykit's eyes widened "Cleaning duty?!?!" she had never been on cleaning duty before. She wasn't normally the type to get into to much trouble with the adults "Why?"

"mmm... do you think she saw us?" Her eyes widened at the thought. After all, they were both currently smeared in what looked like dirt brown paint from smearing all the colors together. "I really need to wash this paint off." Lunarkit groaned and made a disgusted face.
