Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
The last round of Fight Nights! Character stats can be viewed on this thread. Each character may get an Advantage (adds +1 to that roll) or Disadvantage (-1 on that roll) on certain rolls, based on their stats. All Staff get 50 HP and use a D10 die for all rolls. All Warriors get 40 HP and will use a D8 for all rolls. All Apprentices have 25 HP and will roll with a D6. A coin flip will determine who rolls first. Every first roll will be for attacks; the dice decide how many points of damage are dealt (those with an Advantage or Disadvantage in Defense will take +1 or -1 point of damage respectively). The other person may then roll for a dodge (if the dodge roll is higher than the attack, after all advantages/disadvantages are applied, it is considered successful). If a dodge fails, they will take half the damage from the attack roll. First to hit 0 HP LOSES.
Sagepaw (sunlight ) | 25 HP | +1 Advantage to Dodge Rolls | -1 Disadvantage to Attack Rolls | Heads Foxpaw (@ian ) | 25 HP | +1 Advantage to Attack Rolls | -1 Disadvantage to Defense Rolls | Tails
Coin flip result: Heads. Sagepaw rolls first!
An apprentice fight wasn't something many were eager to see, apparent in how the crowd grew thinner, but Phantomfox was on edge all the same. Although interested to see what skills Sagepaw had honed after their few training sessions together, she was facing off against his son, who he'd been reluctant to allow to fight at all given his frailty. He rested a little closer to the edge of the Highstone, ready to jump in as necessary, and gave them a nod to allow their battle to commence.
(okay um im bad with dice stuff. i rolled and got a 5, so that's now a 4, right? but there's no damage done until ian rolls and we compare, correct?)
Sagepaw had really wanted to fight someone, to sink her claws into something just to let out the pent up anger- but knowing that it was her frail pseudo-brother made this all just a little less fun. If she really whaled him, then Phantomfox would undoubtedly be pissed. So she guessed she'd have to be a little gentler than she would've liked to be.
Attacking wasn't her strong suit, but she'd grown a good bit in her training with both Larkspur and Phantomfox. Her initial posture was good- well-balanced, low to the ground, limber. After a long moment, she pounced, her gaze focused on Foxpaw's chest but her paws sweeping for his legs.
correct, no damage until ian rolls for a dodge, but sage will deal 5 damage because her advantage and fox's disadvantage pretty much cancel each other out! if he rolls an unsuccessful dodge, he'll take 3 damage (as opposed to 2.5) because we'll just round up since fox is a big wimpy baby
ummm rude ???? don't talk about ur son like that ???? he's doing good today on his dodge roll I love that he got a 3 on the attack roll that feels right
dodge roll:6, -1 for disadvantage, total +5, successful dodge, no damage taken
attack roll: 3 + 1 for advantage, total +4
It had taken a lot of convincing to let him join in on fight nights. Of course, there was a part of him that understood where his dad was coming from - after all, he was still sniffly, even as they prepared. It wasn't until Aspenstar came to bat for the small tom that Phantomfox even considered letting his son fight. "This could be good for him. Give him a chance to feel like one of the other apprentices. We will intervene before he gets hurt, there's nothing to worry about." This was a strange request from the small leader, who up until that point had doted and worried about Foxpaw almost as much as his parents had. "Let him be a kid, just this once."
Foxpaw had been thrilled with the outcome, a smile on his face as he stood across from Sagepaw. He blinked his eyes as she sent herself flying. He was focused intently on her move, and was able to narrowly avoid it when it finally came. He skirted to the side, twisting his body out of her way. "See, I can do it," he called to his father as he twisted, his outstretched paws desperately trying to grab Sagepaw's back legs so that he could throw her around a bit....
ian no!! no adding or subtracting our queen ally says to leave it since they cancel out!!
anywhooo
dodge: 3 (no modifier), cancels out so no damage attack: 5 (no modifier)
Sagepaw felt a surge of annoyance as Foxpaw dodged her attack, cursing her own ineptitude. This should be easy- it was Foxpaw, for Starclan's sake! She skirted around his grab, steadying herself before striking again, using her speed and her agility to her advantage. The russet tabby would never gain an upper hand through sheer strength, so she focused entirely on quick and well-placed attacks- like a viper waiting to strike.
Honestly, she'd probably have the advantage if she blew on him too hard. Although he had been quick the first time, he unfortunately had to cough at the most inconvenient times. Instead of jumping out of the way, the poor tom sucumbed to the urge to clear the itch in his throat. Temporarily distracted, her hit collided with him easily. He let out a grunt as he was pushed backwards, losing his balance slightly. He gritted his teeth, before regaining focus. If he showed too much weakness, Phantomfox would call off the match. No, he had to prove that he wasn't totally useless.
Regaining his footing, his gaze flashed. This time, his attack was stronger, more precise. It should have hit with ease...
