Vulcan, as usual, was an annoyance. Which mostly meant poking his head out of walls and scaring those who weren't used to him nowadays. Unfortunately it didn't work this time, and when he poked his head out, with a pointed "Boo!" Apparently the cat before him thought he wasn't all that terrifying. The dusty orange ghost gave a huff and stepped out into the open, looking a bit bored. "You could at least pretend to be scared."
Luckywilllow was focused on building a new nest for his mate. Dappledmint had decided to leave her clan behind and join him, and he wanted this place to be as comfortable as possible for her. His ears twitched back as he heard a boo! and lifted his head to grin at Vulcan. "You're back!" he mewed. Luckywillow had just been a kit when Vulcan led him and his siblings to SwiftClan and convinced them and their mother, Wildrain, to join. "Sorry, you just didn't scare me."

"I've been back for a while! You've just been ignoring me." Vulcan sniffed. "How ungrateful. Can't even put on an act to please and old ghost like me." Then again, Vulcan had also been looking for Chim, so maybe he wasn't actually around as much as he should be. But still! If he'd been gone so long, you think they'd have unlearned being used to him.
"Really? I wasn't trying to ignore you. I have been a little distracted," he admitted. He had been going on twice as many lone hunting patrols to try and find a reason to slip closer to the border and meet Dappledmint. If Vulcan had been around the camp, that would explain why the tabby hadn't seen him before.
"Well, we're both here now! Want to help me build this nest? It needs something else, something more comfortable," he mused. "Any ideas?"

"I'm dead and you're still trying to make me WORK?" He scrunched his nose. "Are feathers not good enough? Why are you trying to be so fancy?" If he could have, he might have booped the other tom on the head. But alas, the struggle of being incorporeal.
Luckywillow grinned, not discouraged in the least. "Well, if you're going to be around, you might as well be useful. You can go rescue another litter of kits... or just help me out now. Your choice." He straightened up, his eyes flashing with excitement. "It has to be perfect! Can I tell you a secret? It's for Dappledmint. She's my mate and she's going to come live with us, but she needs the best place to sleep."

"Times like this, I miss Chim being around to annoy. He didn't give me any jobs to do, he just told me to go away about a hundred times, and seemed to wish he could actually strangle me." The ghostly feline sighed, though he didn't appear to be going searchign for any new kits, so apparently he was helping out. Or at least, not being a hindrance. "She'll probably like whatever you do, you know."
Luckywillow rolled his eyes. He missed Chim too, though probably not as much as the rest of the clan. Chim had been a good leader for them, but personally, he had never interacted with the clan founder and thought that was probably a good thing.
"I know she will. But SwiftClan is really different from SpringClan, and I just want her to be happy. She's making a really big change by coming out here."

"What kind of things does SpringClan have?" Vulcan yawned, though clearly, he mostly did this for effect, and not out of actual tiredness. "Maybe include something they'd have to make it feel more homey, I dunno."
The cream-tabby frowned, sitting back on his haunches. What kind of things did they have? He had never lived in the clan; his exchange had been to SummerClan. As he tried to think back through the stories she had told, only one silly thing came to mind.

The tom shrugged. "Maybe find some flowers she likes then? I'm sure they're bound to make the nest look pretty, if nothing else." Vulcan glanced around. "I'm sure there were some nearby. What kinds, I've no idea though. I don't know flowers."
"I don't know them either," he admitted, but he liked the idea. It wasn't a bad idea. Maybe she would feel more comfortable here if she had a flower to remind her of her home. "Well, let's go pick out some flowers together, and maybe we can agree which ones look the best?"

Vulcan turned and led Luckywillow a random direction, searching for the flowers he'd seen. They were pretty and purple, though some of the stems held black berries on them. Probably fine, right? Well, they were going to see, it wasn't like the orange tom was the one who had to worry about dying, anyway. "Somewhere over here."
"Right." He stood up and shook out his fur, then followed after the ghost. It was easy to trust him; Luckywillow had known him all his life, even if it was a distant relationship, and he still believed the tom wanted the best for him. He had a strange way of showing it sometimes, but he still knew that deep down, Vulcan liked his clanmates.
