Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
In this particular spot of the tunnels, moonlight streamed down a hole in the ground, vines curling down into the earth around a shallow pool, twisted tree roots around her paws, and a single tree growing around the waters, a few of it’s roots curling over the water like a bridge. Tangled into them, just barely catching the Spy’s vision, was a rippling cloth, shimmering and glittering as if the stars themselves had been woven into it. It caught her attention immediately, and of course, she had to investigate.

"Oh thank the Sun God, some light! Even if it is from the Moon Goddess" chirped Southpaw as she made her way down to the water's edge. The young she-cat hated pretty much everything about the regime so far. Not only did they live in these cramped cold tunnels, but keep her white coat pristine was nearly impossible. She had always taken great pride in keeping her long fur untangled and unblemished, but simply walking around down here was enough to cause dust particles to settle on it, much to her annoyance. Worse than that, with the lack of light, no one could really appreciate her work and how her pelt would shimmer when she moved. How was she ever going to find the perfect mate if she looked like some half-dead rat all the time?
Sitting down at he water's edge, Southpaw lifted her paw to groom when she noticed the other cat investigating some strange object. She had to admit that it was rather pretty, but there was no way she was going into the water to get it

Arei, for her part, didn't care so much about appearances, after all, she had brown patches speckled across her white fur in such a way that made her look forever dirty, what was a little bit more? Even still, she climbed her way around the tree to get to the roots craning over the water, heading for the object. When she got there, she noticed it was all the more tangled than she thought. She needed an extra set of paws, and glancing about, she noticed Southpaw. "Come help me get this." She demanded.

Southpaw looked up from her grooming "Excuse you, but that is no way to speak to a lady" she replied matter of factly before returning to her grooming
"and ladies don't get their paws muddy. Shouldn't you ask your boyfriend or mate to get it for you?" she looked up at the she-cat's white fur that was already speckled in mud "Well I suppose it wouldn't do you much good at this point, but you should stop and groom yourself. You wouldn't want them to see you in such a wretched state deary"

"You're not a lady here, you're a Cadet. And in the Regime, that means you follow orders without backtalk." Arei snapped back. "And that's not dirt, that's just my fur color, you brat."

Southpaw giggled "You really are a silly goose, of course I am a lady"
"and so are you, some where under all that.. oh that is your fur? My apologies. Have you ever considered dying it? I have a really good recipe that I use on my fur to keep it so bright and white. I bet it would take care of those little unseemly spots in no time" she purred warmly, for even though the cat before her was oh so rude, that didn't mean that she had to be rude in return "Once your finished getting... well whatever that is... and have had a bath, then I would be more than happy to help you with it"

"You're not going to last long here." Arei stated bluntly, still working on getting that piece of cloth. "Disobedience is a one way ticket to bootcamp, and that means harder labor, and less food. Even less comfort that what the Regime meagerly provides already."

Southpaw blinked, "Oh you really are funny. Tell me, why do you just do whatever they tell you? Don't you have a mind of your own?" she shook her head "Dad always said that you Regime cats were better than SunClan, but to me it sounds like you are a lot a like. Its just that you follow your clan-mates and they follow the Sun God. There really isn't all that much of a difference. You are both blindly following orders" she yawned, the she-cat before her becoming much more boring. She was just another sheep, following their shepherds.

The Spy snorted. "The Regime has almost died more times than we can count. When it comes to what is necessary, you listen, or you leave. You can do what you want in your free time, but refusing to obey a direct order makes you a liability, and you're going to get cats killed for it."
Finally, she was starting to get the damn thing untangled. It was so pretty, too. "The difference between SunClan and the Regime is this, we obey because it's necessary for our survival. SunClan obeys out of fear and religion. Here, if you have a problem with something here, you can bring it up to the Command afterwards, but in the moment, you do as you're told. Unlike you, I can do whatever I want, because I've proven that I know when it's necessary to listen."

"You said it yourself. Both of you do it out of fear" Southpaw blinked, still not quite getting the difference hear "You can make up all the excuses that you want but you are one in the same when it comes down to it. I like DayClan better, they may be softer but at least they don't just follow someone just because they said to do something. They may be soft on the outside, but you all are soft on the inside"

"Perhaps I will, but that is my decision to make. Not yours" she replied matter of factly, unbothered by the other cat's harsh words. In her mind being here in the regime was just all one big adventure to figure out where she wanted to stay. She had grown up in SunClan, but also had regime and Daylan heritage to explore. Clearly this wasn't the place for her though, at least not unless Commander Shule managed to change her day dreaming and soft personality

"That's what you think. But keep acting like this, and the decision will be made for you." Arei sniffed, looking mostly annoyed by the other feline at this point. Honestly, she'd probably be happier if the other cat left her alone, but Southpaw didn't seem intent on going anywhere for the moment.

Southpaw huffed, settling down on the beach "Yeah, yeah" she flicked her tail back and forth "That what everyone keeps telling me, and nothing has happened yet"
Post by Honeystorm on Aug 21, 2021 21:36:01 GMT -5
"Yet." Arei echoed with a slight laugh. "Trust me, everything is going to get much more miserable for you soon. You're just lucky you haven't pissed off any of the command yet. Grandma Shule can get downright cruel when she wants to be with her punishments."

"Shes my grandma, how bad could she be?" she chirped, looking at the spy with sparkling eyes
She had heard a few stories about Shule from Unseenlights and Duskslayer, but she had no indication that her interaction with her would be anything but pleasant "I'm excited to meet her, she sounds really cool!!! Like the heros in the story who are really tough and mean looking, but super nice"

"You're going to be in for a rude awakening." Arei could barely contain laughter at Southpaw's ignorance. "I would do anything to see your face when you meet her. Actually, I might just be there, whether or not you see me."

"Oh you silly goose" Southpaw purred, she didn't really know what a rude awakening was. What was Shule going to shake her awake or something? Didn't she know that she had grown up with two unruely brothers who did that nearly daily? "I don't mind getting worken up early"

Arei shook her head, wrapping the pretty piece of cloth she'd found around her neck as she got herself away from the water. "You have no idea." She answered, looking to head out. "I'd say it was nice meeting you, but you seem pretty worthless, so I think this conversation was a waste of time."
