Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
"Oh- I'm sorry about your father. I've never been very well educated on the Regime's history. I probably should work on that." Lark's whiskers twitched at his compliment, chagrined. "Thank you. I'm taking care of Raiser Venus currently, with her litter. Did you know she was expecting?"
Reisi nodded. "A lot of the soldiers sound pretty excited. It's not every day that the sister of our current commander and the current Scout Superior announce they are having tykes and on top of that, he's the son of former commander Largo. He then shakes his head. "I just hope that they don't feel the need to live up to such a family. I struggled a lot with that as a cadet." He was finally starting to find who he really was as he got older, but he could remember the constant pressure he had felt in his cadet days to live up to his father's name.
"I can imagine." Lark's voice was sympathetic, and she was careful to withhold pity- she never wanted it for herself, so she took care not to pity others. She fell silent for a moment, a poignant ache in her chest as she remembered her own kits. How desperately she had wanted a family- and how quickly it had been torn from her. She swallowed hard and smiled once more. "You seem to be doing fine now, though!" Her voice was maybe a hint too cheery, but she was hoping he wouldn't notice.
"Yeah I suppose I had to learn to start living for myself." While he had picked up on the overly cheery tone, for now he left it be. After all, not everyone wanted to talk about their past. If she wanted to tell him then she would. "You know, it's been a while since I've been up to the surface. They've had me on tunnel duty for the past week." Of course he was already scolding himself for what he had seen as a failed attempt to change the subject. He had just got the feeling that Lark might not be so comfortable talking about matters concerning family so he had hoped to perhaps change the topic to something else.
Thankful for the subject change, she latched on to the new topic. "I try to come up at least twice a week. I love the tunnels, but they can be stifling to me sometimes. Maybe it's the lack of moving air." She shrugged, stopped beside the small creek that wound through a part of the Regime's upper territory. Her amber eyes focused on the crystalline water, watching it trickle lazily and throw off shifting sun shimmers. "Besides, the surface is so beautiful. I can't imagine never seeing it."
"So are the tunnels if you go deep enough. Patrols have been exploring further into the tunnels here lately and we keep finding new things. There are crystals in the walls when you go so far in. I believe Mars told Superior Limavady and Superior Gardenia to set up more patrols focused on exploring the tunnels." He was honestly fascinated at how unique their home was. Up until recently they had been content with what they knew of the tunnels, but it seemed like that was changing now. "Have you ever been to the underground forest that DayClan gave us? I haven't had time to go myself, but I've heard its a sight to behold."
"Wow." She exhaled slightly, startled by how little she knew about the recent findings of the Regime. Maybe it was because she was always busy with the tykes, maybe because part of her heart still longed for the surface. "I've never been. I didn't even know, honestly. I guess I come up too much, it prevents me from going down to the more intriguing things." The dainty calico Superior smiled at Mars, whiskers twitching. "I didn't even know forests could exist underground. You'll have to take me sometime- I mean, I'd like to see it at some point." She was chagrined, feeling a little too forward with her last remark.
