Icesplash's leg was feeling better today, so the ginger tabby decided to make a short trek up the hill to the Garden. He'd always liked coming here, even back when he used to be a warrior. The past couple of years since the Garden Keeper position had been created led to an almost magical change in the landscape up here; what had once been a plain, green hilltop now an explosion of sweet scents and color. Bending over to delicately sniff at one of the carefully-raised blossoms, the Elder idly wondered whether he should actually consider giving Gardening a try, since he obviously couldn't hunt or fight anymore. It might make a fun pasttime.

Having a full time job once again wasn't Gentlebreeze's idea for her retirement but she was never one to complain. For the past moon she had spent most of her time teaching her son, Graythorn, how to lip read. She had felt awful about his accident and grieved the loss of his hearing with him. However, today she needed to take time for herself to just relax.
Not knowing where she was going when she left the camp, the gray tabby found herself in the middle of a beautiful flower garden. So this is what the garden keepers do, she mused. After looking around for awhile, she found cool shady spot near a tiny stream and crawled under a clump of ferns for a nap. But before she could fall asleep she heard some pawsteps and peeked through the ferns to see who was coming. Upon seeing who was there, she smiled. "Be careful a bee doesn't sting you on your nose," she cautioned after concealing herself once again.
Icesplash glanced up in mild surprise that someone else was there in the garden - he hadn't smelled or heard anyone on his stroll up there - but he immediately relaxed as soon as he recognized the she-cat that he'd been sharing a den with for the past few moons. "Good afternoon, Auntie," he greeted Gentlebreeze with a friendly purr. Gentlebreeze wasn't technically his aunt, rather his mother Thunderstorm's cousin, but he liked to call her Auntie regardless. They were all family after all. Honestly he felt terrible about what happened to Graythorn; losing one's hearing was far worse than simply being crippled in one leg, and it hit even worse for the young elder because it happened to the very cat who rehabilitated him. He wouldn't be able to walk even this far if it wasn't for the former Medicine Cat.
"I guess we both had the same idea, didn't we?" He continued, hobbling over to her with a cheeky smile. "Don't worry though Gentlebreeze, I'm always very careful."

"I know you are," the gray tabby replied as she thought about Icesplash's accident. She emerged out from under the ferns stretching out each hind leg in turn. Now that she wasn't alone, napping wasn't a high priority for her anymore. "But it doesn't hurt to be reminded from time to time."
Just then a large bumblebee buzzed on over and crawled inside the flower blossom Icesplash had just sniffed. "See? If you were just a few seconds later you'd have sniffed up that bee," she mewed teasingly. "I can just see you going around with a poultice on your nose!"
Icesplash glanced down at the bee for a moment as it enter the flower beneath him, before letting out a soft laugh. "I suppose you're right, Auntie. Starclan-knows I've had enough experience with poultice from all the trouble I used to get into as a kit." He didn't even feel the need to elaborate; Thunderstorm had probably shared enough kithood stories about him and his siblings to their relatives to fill several books. When they had first arrived to Summerclan, bonding with their distant family had been the easiest way to temporarily forget the tragedy they had left behind. But he didn't really want to think about that right now.
"What brings you up here, Gentlebreeze?" He asked. "I'm guessing Graythorn's probably asleep or something. Is he doing better?"

Visions of the former kit's antics flowed through Gentlebreeze's mind from the stories she'd heard caused a slight smile to brighten her face.
"I just wanted to get out of the camp for awhile," she replied. "Not going on patrols anymore makes a cat feel cooped up at times." As a warrior, she always enjoyed going on hunting patrols. That was one thing she really enjoyed about being a warrior. Hunting and just being out in the forest always made her feel so alive. "As for Graythorn, well it's been a hard transition for him. He's seeming to cope a little better than he first had. I'm working with him to mouth read but it's going to be a long process."
