Everyone always looked upon life as if it was something to be honoured, something to be held in some high reverence above all. Hywel disagreed.
It wasn't that he was out for murder, or even that he felt the opposite. He didn't worship death like many of his kind, nor did he feel the need to taste blood on his lips to find the adrenaline to live out his life, but...there was something about it, something about life that he didn't seem to see the same. The monotony. There was always places to go, places to run from, so much that even the pleasures of life, the flings and romances and the nights spent nibbling on catnip, blissed out of his mind, didn't seem to overcome it.
Boredom. He suffered from a long case of chronic boredom, one that even the league couldn't seem to cure.
Sauntering across the roof of an old shed, his baby blues drifted across the angles formed by the streets and alleyways. There was still blood on his maw from the rabbit he had found earlier, the cage door unlatched by accident. Surely some child would be horrified to see their Mr. Fluffikins missing, but the meal had been tasty enough, and here he sat, enjoying the meal and a sunset, the flickering of his tail showing his disinterest in everything around him.

Scarce prey meant desperate times called for desperate measures, low herb stock also meant he couldnt be reckless and attacking everything that was bigger than him - a hawk or small dog might a filling meal for those willing to eat it but also came with risk of injury. So fine, Uta chased a rabbit guarenteed to be an easy kill out of a twolegs garden - quite the mutually beneficial relationship neither parties would ever realize.
At the last second of his lunge to grab it -something swooped in. A feathery wing knocked into his side and he turned his face for cover, ruining his landing. He let his shoulder and side slam into the ground to make contact and twisted his body to use the momentum to roll quickly back on his feet. He glanced around fervently unsure of the direction it headed in. Then - a quick flash of a figure went up the side of, and disappeared over a shed losing his visual on it. He frowned on the outside, rare for him to do, and indeed scowled under his breath as he weaved around building and objects to get to the shed. He circled it till he found his way up and finally heaved himself up with a soft clatter as his weight made contact with the metal roof announcing his presence. Oh, a cat and another PI member at that.
". . ." He was speechless for moment, disappointed there was a lack of rabbit for him to reclaim. "You see a rabbit by chance?" He asked polite but direct to get to the point without providing any other context.

(no worries!! ♥)
Hywel didn't expect any company. Rhiannon was probably off stalking around her little place, trying to solve whatever little mystery she had going on, but he had never concerned himself with any of that. Her business was her own; he minded his own time. The sudden sound of the shed roof rattling and the vibration under his paws was curious, and he turned just in time for Uta to climb upon the roof, blue eyes meeting the other cat's gold.
Rabbit? The silvery-white tom blinked, before glancing to the half-eaten white bundle at his paws. There was no way this cat was looking for the same pet rabbit he had just eaten, no? There weren't a lot of rabbits in the city other than the few that were kept as pets. Surely, they wouldn't be after the exact same one?
"It might've been my dinner earlier," he suggested, with a grimace that didn't seem all too apologetic at all, "sorry about that. Might be a bit too late if you were eyeing the same one I was earlier."

He really had to pause and run back th events in his head. Lets see white-slivery figure interrupts him, come to shed, he knows he took a while to catch up and maybe this tom knew of quicker way through and up to this location but did he really have time to devour half the rabbit that quick- the doubt stopped as soon he acknowledged how eerily similar the rabbit was, the fresh blood staining the tom's mouth, the matching suspect description all corroborating the male's suspiciously easy and unashamed confession. Well, he didn't need a reason to doubt something so plainly laid out.
"Well, that's unfortunate," he sighed the mew as he approached. "I guess you'll just die," he sharply slid closer and swung a paw at Hywel's feet. Uta was however tired and amidst the lack of good prey and even his experimental attempts thwarted by inexperience of hunting in the ocean or those flying rats called seagulls prey-stealing. Now this- his own clanmate daring to his stick his paws and fangs into his prey, well them's fighting words.

Hywel blinked at Uta, before bursting into laughter. Okay, that was funny, he had to admit. The deadpan delivery, the dramatic sigh...wow this cat was a comedic genius. "You ever think of hosting your own comedy show?" he chuckled, "you'd be great at it. The delivery, the dramatics! I bet you'd make a great comedian, and trust me, I've got an eye for these sort of things."
A grin on his face, he gestured towards the rabbit. "I mean it's not much but you can have the rest, I'm already done," he shrugged, turning to Uta with an innocent smile, blissfully ignorant of the murderous intent, or perhaps purposefully so. "I'm Hywel, what's your name? I don't think we've met before."
Post by Shadowbladeღ on Aug 7, 2021 20:40:00 GMT -5
"I haven't really thought about a comedy show on account of the lack of humor within our group" the tom answered rather honestly not that it would make a difference if he was joking or not. He did think his clanmates could use more jokes and indulge him a little.
Uta heavy swiped at the tom narrowly missing and hard clanging against the thick metal roof it was almost surprise there wasn't a dent. "I do think more cats of ours need to lighten up - I've suggested a mirthful event night before, long time ago, perhaps they'll reconsider such an occasion." He continued the conversation as normal like he wasn't trying to drive his claws into the other's throat for the sins he's committed against him.
He flexed his paw and stretched out his grasping claws as the pain mildly throbbed through it, guess he never had hit metal before. He looked to the other male's offer so meager and looked so much smaller now than the original fresh kill he envisioned.
"I need no seconds, nor would the group be satisficed if I brought back less than half a rabbit." Uta slightly shook his head side-to-side for 'no' but he also he seemed to pause his offensive attacks for the moment. "Uta, and I'm sure I've seen you in the background before but otherwise, no I don't think so either."

Hywel heard a clatter, but assumed the tom just tripped or something. Huh, weird to lose one's balance on such a flat surface but he didn't judge. After all, it was just the other day when he had accidentally knocked over a stack of boxes onto another cat by accident. Whoops. At Uta's words, he grinned.
"You know, you might be surprised," he shrugged slyly, "there have been a few underground parties if you know where to look. Last I heard, the one a few weeks back...even the warden appeared. Apparently, he was high out of his mind. Maybe you'd like to go with me sometime." He gave Uta a wink. He didn't exactly seem like Hywel's type right now but Hywel was never really picky, and well, flings were flings. He rarely formed any emotional attachment to anyone.
At the other cat's refusal of the prey, he shrugged. "You do you man, but there's not a lot of food out here otherwise, you know. Heard the pizza place down the street throws their leftovers out once in a while though; if you don't like human food you'll at least find a couple of mice...and god who cares about the others anyway? If they can't catch their own food that's their problem."

"I'm actually disappointed to missed that" he seemed to really wonder what that might have been like or rather the idea of his group having fun, and him having fun with them again. It felt like such a long time since he placed any value in doing, such a long time since he felt like his old self. Not that he could, or would acknowledge that wink any further than catching it; and it was funny to think about - why not? Aside from his former train wreck with Adelaide that resulted in their likely patricide-inclined spawn he had no idea where or how anyone else could fit into whatever he had with Accalia. She never had to share him and he did not suspect she would have any reason to accept it now, and losing her... That was a dangerous thought, ᵇᵘᵗ ʷʰᵉⁿ ʷᵃˢ ʰᵉ ᵃᶠʳᵃⁱᵈ ᵒᶠ ᵈᵃⁿᵍᵉʳ
"I'd rather use that crowfood as bait to trap a dove or something but true to the namesake crows usually swarm that location." he gave the idea a thought, otherwise he could travel farther out towards clan territories for better luck. / If they can't catch their own food that's their problem./ "Perhaps, perhaps nots.." he answered vaguely, he never took personal responsibility for his mates or kits before so it wasn't a surprise he wasn't starting now, or perhaps he himself didn't know how he truly felt about it anymore.

"Yeah, it was one hell of a rager," Hywel sighed as if he was an old man reminiscing over his childhood, "the music, the drinks, the free love...that kind of stuff you rarely find, you know? I miss that."
At the sound of using the prey as bait, his ears perked up in interest. Now that was a fascinating way to catch something. "By all means," he grinned, pushing the leftovers to Uta, "though if you're planning on doing so, I definitely want to see how you do that." He didn't have much interest in training or hunting techniques but a show was a show and he had eaten his fill, so why not? Hywel was a sucker for indulging in his vices after all, and sloth and gluttony were often the friendliest of the bunch.
Post by Shadowbladeღ on Aug 13, 2021 0:51:21 GMT -5
( xD )
'Miss that' those words resonated with him more than he liked. So much of it was meaningless nothings all meant to fill the void, and yet he still got two of the gut-wrenching loves out of it he didn't know he could ever have, loves he didn't know he even wanted by the sheer hurt it inflicted once they were taken away. Was isolation the right move - or maybe he was going about this wrong way, and why didn't he know what he wanted anymore? How many times was he gonna scratch out and rewrite the script to get it right? Amidst yet another countless, internal crisis the voice brought him back.
/though if you're planning on doing so, I definitely want to see how you do that./ "Hmm." a second cat accompanying him could be useful to him and the extra pair of eyes and an dispensable body could help him catch something much bigger. He picked up the remainder of the prey with his usual smile now hinting his 'i just thought of something' interest.
"C'mon then Hywell, let's go commit some genocide" and hey, he remembered his name.

"Genocide?" the tom echoed, raising a brow as he followed after Uta, "I don't remember agreeing to that specifically. Remind me what you do for a living again?" THere was a weird sort of humour in Hywel's voice, dry yet amused, and still, he was starting to assume that all the cats of this city were at least a little loopy. He certainly had met a fair few. He had agreed to go on a hunt, but genocide...well that was a bit of an extreme wasn't it? Wiping out the pigeon population in this city didn't seem like a feasible idea.
"So where are we heading? Any good hunting spots for me to know?" he asked with a chuckle.
Post by Shadowbladeღ on Aug 17, 2021 3:48:30 GMT -5
"Kill, what do you do?" he smiled casually glancing back to him as he took lead getting back down the shed. To be fair in PI he just assumed that was the norm, but then he remembered this one and his sister- they weren't born in PI right? He was sure he would've noticed butt hen again he had been rather absent from the group and off doing his own thing for the past few years.
"Up." he merely replied to the inquiry and looked above and out to the trees near the city. He had a particular idea in mind and didn't think anymore details were necessary, and really there wasn't much else since just of a simple plan and didn't care if it worked out of not.

"Take care of ambitious idiots," he replied without skipping a beat, "guess we do the opposite, no?" The other cat killed, he made sure his sister didn't die. Truly, their lives separated in different directions. He had realized early on how bloodthirsty some of the city cats were; death was normal up north, but it was something sacred, something both mourned and celebrated. It was nothing like the bitter apathy of the city, who gave and took lives like an ambivalent god.
"Lead the way then," he glanced to the same direction the other tom looked towards. If the cat wasn't clear about where they were heading, he'd let them take the lead.
Post by Shadowbladeღ on Aug 22, 2021 1:38:55 GMT -5
"If you say so," Uta shrugged, "the 'take care of' sounded awfully similar so unless I am misinterpreting..." he trailed off, the tom was missing the difference between them and fine with admitting to the confusion if it gave them something to talk about. This particular prey was a good minute walk away after all and he'd like to pick the other cat for more information if it could prove useful later on.

He rolled his eyes. "You're definitely misinterpreting," he replied a snort of laughter upon his lips. His little murder days were definitely in the past. "Don't tell me there's no one out there you don't want to murder?" he asked, whiskers twitching in amusement.
Post by Shadowbladeღ on Aug 23, 2021 16:09:38 GMT -5
"Ha" the soft laugh escaped and brought a smile he couldn't contain, "The one I loved most was so exhilarating because I didn't know who would kill each other first, me? him? both at the same time? I hadn't met anyone who could come close to killing me in those days, and if my death isn't violently beautiful or creatively resourceful the way he could've made it then... it'd be shame. But I've lost my equal - maybe I'd find another, someone close enough or someone better but... I know it won't be the same." He knew those last words were true, should've been true but he still had a hard time getting over them, getting over the thrill seeking, or maybe it was getting over him. He couldn't live with him without fighting, nor without him less he lose his one last thrill in life, any maybe just maybe his one to change it.
But he was never one for change now was he? Was he even different now? Well even if she was he wasn't gonna tell anyone that, let alone this prey-stealer now was he?

He snorted at that. "You sound like my sister," he chuckled, before giving him a glare, "but don't take this as permission to mess around with her." He was, after all, the protective older brother, and while one could easily claim he was never serious, that didn't apply when it came to Rhiannon. Still, there was a certain similarity in the way they seemed to talk about death, as something they took lightly, as something that could almost be seen as an art form. He'd disagree of course, but who was he to deny them their pleasures?
Post by Shadowbladeღ on Aug 24, 2021 19:11:29 GMT -5
He chuckled, "I've learn my lessons with kit-bearers at least, otherwise" he dared to glance at Hywel, "if she's a grown up it's free real estate she can make her own choices." He teased and dared further to turn away from him and look up tree. "We're here." Course the tom most likely wasn't serious, he really did not mess around with any other leaguemates aside from Accalia and most likely had no intention to, not now at least. If a potential break up were to rock his world and really throw him into instability unlike that of what he was even before when he lost his 'equal' well who knows what fun chaos could happen then?
(technically his thread with her comes first so he does know her, but I'll pretend he hasn't yet connected the dots they're siblings for fun lol)

"Of course she is," he replied casually, "doesn't mean I won't rip your head off though. She can make her choices and I can make mine." His tone was still casual, as if he was just jesting, but there was a glint in his eye that spoke otherwise, that made his lighthearted words seem just a little bit dangerous.
He looked up when the other tom spoke. They had arrived? He frowned; it didn't look particularly better than where they had been. "So what's the plan?" he asked, turning to Uta.
Post by Shadowbladeღ on Aug 25, 2021 23:27:53 GMT -5
How fun, they seemed to understand each other perfectly, and like kindred spirits could talk in the same mother tongue of sass.
"First we go up," the marbled tom said with confidence and half-rabbit still in mouth, he leaped onto and began hoisting himself up. These particular birds had an affinity for making their nest higher up in the treetops so there was still some effort to be put in just to get a good view to determine their next move exactly. Uta already knew what he wanted to do to the other tom I mean, what he wanted him ot do it was just a matter of seeing it would work - he had a plan B of course but that was no fun.
