Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Well, this wasn't exactly what Foxpaw had expected his day would turn out like. He and Rosypaw had been given the night off by Phantomfox, something about how he and Rosethorn had a date or something, the small tom hadn't been paying much attention. He knew he wasn't technically supposed to leave camp alone, one of the pesky medical rules, but he had just been so bored! So, the sickly tom had wandered out into the territory, right smack dab into the situation he was in now.
What was the situation, you might ask?
Well, Foxpaw was face to face with a baby opossum, one who looked like it had been the victim of some sort of animal attack. It couldn't have been very old, but still probably big enough that it could probably hurt the tom cat who peered at it curiously. "Hey, lil guy, you look hurt," he cooed, eliciting a hiss from the opossum.
What was a tom to do? He couldn't just leave it out here, it was hurt! But, how did one acquire medical care for an opossum? He didn't want to kill it, it looked a little too close to a mange-ridden cat for him to be able to do it, which meant he had to figure out his next move, it seemed.
Luckily, the son of the Loyal Guard Captain wasn't as alone as he had originally thought, and he heard a voice from behind him.

"You probably shouldn't touch it" Tangledcurls warned, staring at the odd creature before them. Being from SunClan, he had never come across and opossum much less a sickly young one. However, the one thing he did know is that when animals looked sickly it was better off leaving them to their fate or putting them out of their misery. It was a hard lesson, but in the deserts of SunClan a necessary one.
"You don't know what is wrong with it, and it could make you sick to" Tangledcurls gave him a sympathetic glance, he understood the moral delima that the apprentice was facing all to well "Look how about you just leave this for me to handle and head back to camp?" He wasn't all to thrilled about the task either, but it was better than putting the burden on the shoulders of an apprentice
"I resent the idea that sickness is bad!" the tom meowed with a puff of his chest. Perhaps that was simply because, well, the tom was chronically ill. Chronical illness, or ... in this case dying opossum ? was just a setback! "I think we should help it!" he meowed in response, taking one step closer to the creature almost ... protectingly? "We don't know what he's been through and we should help him! At least get him out of the territory so he can have a nice long life somewhere else!" Logic was probably not going to work for the apprentice, so honestly, Tangledcurls was about to have a hell of a job ahead of him.

Help it? and they said SunClan cats were odd...
"Very well, if you insist" Tangledcurls agreed albeit with a little reluctance "However, if you want my help then you have to promise not to touch it. I meant what I said about it being able to make you sick as well, and if you get sick you are not going to be able to help it or anything else for that matter" The wheels in his mind were already turning about how to escort the creature out of the territory without physical contact with it. He had worked with cats like this one before, once they got something in their mind, there was no changing it. All you could do was support their efforts and try to make them a bit safer while they followed their path.
"I like you, Tangledcurls!" he meowed with a chipper smile when the tom relented to his weird little plan. "Dad would have never let that happen, so between you and me, that makes you the cooler authority figure!" Was the SunClan Ray an authority figure in Foxpaw's life? That was probably debatable, but most of the time, it was just best to let the boy babble his way into things. "If we help it and it doesn't look so sad at the end, I promise I won't touch it! Cross my heart and hope to die, stick a possum toe in my eye!"

Tanglecurls shrugged his shoulders "I'm pretty sure you are the first cat to ever call me cool...." honestly most cats saw him as a lovable clumsy cat
"First this is we need to make a way to carry it, without touching. Something we can make it move onto and then slide around" the young cat thought for a few moments "Go and get me some sticks and some big leaves"
"Well, then, I'm the first cat to ever be right!" he beamed. ""Cool and smart, I see why Aspenstar keeps you around!" he continued, before nodding twice. "Branches and leaves," he repeated, before the sickly tom sprinted off, quite a bit of pep in his step. Probably too much pep for the circumstances- he probably shouldn't have been so excited to help a potentially rabid animal, but hey, such was life.
His task took him two trips. The first one, he brought the leaves. This time, though, he dragged two sticks quite literally his size through the dirt (they were too big for the tom to carry otherwise). He placed them gently on the ground, offering a smile to Tangledcurls. "Hope these ones work!"

While he was waiting, Tangledcurls took another look at the injured animal. He didn't know a lot about healing, but it didn't seem to bad off. He susupected if they poked it enough, it would come out and cling to the makeshift slide that they were going to make. He looked up as the young cat came running back with the huge branches "That'll do" he agreed, breaking off some of the extra limbs and placing the leaves on top to act sort of like a bed "If we can get it onto here, we can push it out of the territory. But im not sure how to get it out of the tree without touching it"
"Are you sure that we can't touch it? I'm sure he wouldn't mind if I gave him just a little nudge to get him where we need to?" he meowed, taking just one exploratory step forward. The opossum froze, and Foxpaw immediately retreated. "No, little buddy! I don't mean to scare you!" he assured it, before blinking. He glanced back down to the leaf bed, and for just a moment, he seemed distracted. He fiddled with the leaves for just a moment - his mom was from SummerClan and had been very clear in her instructions on how to build the best flower crown, and he couldn't imagine there was structurally that much difference - before looking back to Tangledcurls. "It looks hungry. Maybe we could convince it to come down if we gave him something to eat? What do opossums eat? I don't wanna scare it, but maybe if we talk real loud?" It was clear that the tom had no real clue what the best move was.

"NO TOUCHING" he reminded the apprentice firmly, but there was no malice in his voice
"I don't know what they eat either. Its... well its the first time I have even seen one of the these things" he blinked, finding himself in quite the perdicament "maybe we could poke it with a stick? Not to hurt it, just to get it to move?"
"Isn't touching it with a stick touching it?" he meowed with a certain boyish innocence that proved he meant no insubordination by the response. "I think that might be our best bet," he then decided after a moment, grabbing the nearest branch that they hadn't already used. He wasn't entirely sure that Tangledcurls meant for him to be the one that poked it, but the apprentice didn't give him time to object. "Here goes nothing!" he meowed around the stick, before nudging the critter...
