"Um, medicine cats witches? I believe I've caught a cold" Oriolelei announced her presence not sure who would be available. She knew in general WinterClan was keeping Amberbird prisoner to teach Roseshade and Blackpaw any and all herbs and healing to restore the role. She had seen Amberbird before in passing to visit his fellow prisoner Gingersnap but otherwise hadn't directly interacted with him. She realized a few day ago she was starting to feel sick when her cough seemed persistent and she was feeling unusually warm for greenleaf in WinterClan - it clicked. Of course, she could use this chance to get to know him! So she was, at the risk of worsening her mild symptoms for a longer 'medicine visit' or better chance for second visit she was here now.
Amberbird was the only one in the healer's den, it'd been that way for many nights now ever since the passing of Brindlemist, Roseshade's sister. Which was fine with the tom as he didn't really like the prisoner's den as it was cold and drafty and overall not comfortable. The storm-grey tom glanced up at the disturbance of his quiet time sorting through herbs. Really, he'd love it if he could leave WinterClan but he couldn't have that maybe they'd just leave him alone. It was a low hope, but one that was constantly being dashed. Peace was not to come for a cat like him. "I-in her-here." Even having been in this place for moons now, he still wasn't very comfortable. Amberbird wanted to return to his life as a kittypet, simple and sweet. But that wasn't to be, at least not for a few more moons. Roseshade had a few more things to learn, kitting complications being one of them. Grief and how to handle losing a patient being the other. The tom steppe away from his herbs, eyes on the ground and hoping this can be a quick visit from whoever stopped by. He hated being here, and most of eth WinterClan cats weren't friendly either.

(i already forgot they're called witches in winterclan i'll edit)
Tortoiseshell ears swiveled to locate the tom as her eyes adjusted to the slightly dimmer environment. "Hi." Her simple greeting lined with a cheery smile and hint of excitement meeting a new cat for the first time, or formally that is. "Amberbird, right? I'm Oriolelei, warrior here at uh, this place- do you need me to stand anywhere in particular?" she gestured with her paw; her rambles clearly not thought out and quick to correct any awkward pauses before they happened.
Amberbird was a little taken back by her bubbly nature and her need to be so forward. With a slow shake of his head, the tom stepped back, a little intimidated by the cat before him. She was...strange, definitely not like the other cold, heartless cats of WinterClan. Many came in here and gave him grief and demanded him to fix them immediately. The tom only glanced up at her, dropping his eyes each time. Definitely a strange one, for sure. "Umm, no..it-it's fine...ju-just stay stay th-there......"

"Right, ..right-o" she neatly curling her fluffy tail around her and glanced around herself as if to make sure she wasn't in the way of anything or too close to any objects or herbs- she hadn't exactly been in the healer's den in forever it seems. "Do I need to tell you my symptoms or like what I think is wrong, or would that be distracting or misleading and you just ask the questions, I answer?" she asked as she waited, the tip of her tail flickering as an outlet for her boundless energy seeping through her patience.
"Y-you can..you can tell m-me..it..it'd help." It'd definitely make this go by quicker. The cute tom was walking around her, eyes scanning for notable signs of illness and injuries. Amberbird had to dodge her tail at one point as it nearly smacked him in the face. When he did, he stumbled, tripping over his own paws and causing himself to blush at the embarrassment of the act.

"Okay!~" she chimed taking a second to think. "Hmm I guess it was like 3 days ago? Or maybe longer? Well anyways I have a cough. I don't know what kind, I just started to notice yesterday I was having a dry throat and coughing throughout the day. " She partially lied having noticed it 3 days ago but it was mild and just a suspicion then and deliberately waited for it to get worse both to confirm and prolong it. "I thought it might just be allergies or I need water so I drank more water and if it didn't go away today then I would stop by - and that where we are, I still have it. I don't think I have fever or anything else.." she scrunched her face as she thought looking off to the side as if just thinking about it alone would help determine that and not you know checking to see if her paw felt warm or anything.
"Eh, probably not." she shrugged without any further investigation, as she didn't felt warm but she did indeed start a mild fever somewhere under that blanket of fur.
Ambersky just stood there for a moment as she rambled on. It always amazed him the cats that just…enjoyed talking and not just that but excelled at it too. He could never imagine being like that, with anyone. He watched her face scrunch up and nearly giggled at the sight but composed himself at the last moment. “Can I have your paw?” It was the easiest way to check for a fever on the longer furred cats, something he was heavily relying on since coming to WinterClan where everyone has such long, thick fur. How he wished for the shirt furred cats of FallClan again. A cough, a dry throat, excess thirst, and if she had a fever it was sounding like a cold. The she-cat would probably have a stuffy nose before long to top off the symptoms.

She caught the flicker of amusement in face and the corners of her smile lifted up just a bit more and left her head distracted with vague feelings as she tried processing what he just said. "Uh-huh" she put her paw up, actual paw-side facing down and she hadn't figured out what it was leading to yet and in her starstruck eyes told she probably wasn't gonna get it on her own when she only had two brain cells powering her thinking process and the rest were partying with the happy emotions and conjuring dumb rom-com level fantasies.
Amberbird turned her paw over, pausing to feel how warm they were. Definitely a fever, he thought before gently releasing her paw. "Se-seems like..ike you have a-a col-cold." He turned away, back towards the herbs he'd left behind. Nothing truly cleared up a cold but time, but he had a few that would help. Some poppy for the headache, feverfew for the fever, and a bit of honey for her throat. It'd help, but nothing more. Slowly, he compiled the herbs, being careful to not spill anything or mix too much together. He placed two poppy seeds and a few chewed feverfew leaves into the honey on a large oak leaf before pulling it over to her to ingest.

Oriolelei had a dumb smile on her face as she nodded her head to go along with whatever he was saying and just hoped it wasn't a question. "Do I uh... take them together, all at once, some in the morning or afternoon..?" she rambled trying to get the hamster running the wheel in her head to think of something to fill the air. She still hadn't even looked down at the herbs just patiently waited for him to respond.
"All..." She was as strange one, normally it was just him stumbling over his words, but she was to now. Or at least she was rambling. Amberbird pushed the herbs closer before pulling all his limbs close and sitting a little stiffly. "All in t-the mor-morning, for..for th-three days....Then..then I..I'll check you ov-over again...."
Post by Shadowbladeღ on Sept 14, 2021 22:58:42 GMT -5
Oriolelei didn't break a second of eye contact or let her smile falter in the slightest, apparently it really did take all functioning brain power to just sit there and listen. Still, at least she was listening. / then I..I'll check you ov-over again.... /
"Ohmm" she was rather delighted to hear that and blended the words together as she perked up even more with eyes that smiled along with her. "Of course! Right, right. So everything, once a morning, and I should come back to you, or will you find me? I mean, you're probably too busy to be chasing after little ol' me" she mused. "I tend to run around all over the place, you should really go on an adventure around camp one of these days" She went on, having to actively try and avoid saying 'with me' at the end of that suggestion. Can't be too obvious girl, reel it in! Granted she did love the land and idea of adventure enough to still genuinely mean what she said and be happy at inspiring others to feel the same.

Amberbird sat back a little surprised at her eagerness to come back. Most cats didn't wanna be around him due to him being an outsider but she seemed...excited about it. Wonder why? Was it because he was an outsider? Was he really that interesting? Why? He didn't get it, to him he was a boring cat and always had been, so why would that be any different now. And now she wanted him to leave camp or even just wander around in it. Didn't she know that was forbidden? He's still a prisoner even if he's allowed to wander from the cell to the healer's den and straight back, no detours allowed and he was escorted each time. The storm grey tom cocked his head to the side thinking, she's weird. "I'm a prisoner, I'm not allowed out of the healer's den or the prison, and I'm escorted here everyday. I doubt Wintrystar would allow me to wander around, even just around camp."

/ I'm a prisoner, / "Uh-huh," she seemed to agree and nod her head for a second before remembering what that meant, "Oh yeah, but ... even then you gotta go find herbs and do plants things and stuff. Even a cat's gotta get a drink of water or leave to make dirt." she mumbled the last the part in good humor as she pretended to nudge her elbow to him without being close enough to make contact and chuckled.
"I mean, even it's not much I can put in a good word for you and you guys- like uh oh Gingersnap!" she gestured with her paw as she talked and looked back down to the herbs on the large oak leaf. "I get that we're not suppose to be nice to prisoners, and making it all sucky to be one is suppose to like inspire cats to not be one in the first place but being stuck in a den all day to crush some souls is a little far, ya know?" she went on her classic ramble and pausing to finally take her darn medicine consuming the honey blob of poppy seeds and chewed feverfew leaves.

He shook his head no. “Roseshade i-is tasked with fin-finding her…her own herbs and I….I make dir-dirt with…when the ot-other prisoners do.” They we’re only allowed out three times a day for dirt making, and we’re taken one at a time with an escort. The worst job for any guard on duty but it had to be done. Amberbird couldn’t believe this she-cat forgot about that. What’s the point in being a prisoner if he can just go as. Pleases when he pleases? And why would she put in a good word for him? Even Wintrystar said she was ready to send him back home, something he was actually looking forward to. “Why?” Why was she doing this? His words were but a whisper, his head tilted in confusion and curiosity. The tom didn’t get it, not one bit.

"I know, I mean - I guess if you guys happened to have one guard, and a fun guard on your escort, then maybe .., things would be different." she further tried to drop her hints of friendliness getting less subtle about it each time but no much more direct in her reasoning. Deep down she knew all the rules everyone had to grow up with, well she didn't think so hard about it or pay that close attention to the prisoners point of view until she recently began befriending them. But she had spent a good amount time studying them, and skirting around them as much as she could testing boundaries and getting her rank up so maybe one day she could have more say.
/ Why? / She heard the soft request for an answer but she was always so bad at putting things into words sometimes that wasn't just a blunt mess she didn't trust herself to try and explain it or say anything in the moment as she avoiding eye contact for a moment. Not to mention, she also had no idea what he would respond to, maybe it would come out all wrong and she'd have the opposite effect. "Does there have to be a 'why'? I can love my clan and realize it has it's faults too - everything has it's positives and negatives, why should you guys only get to see the 'bad' side?"

Shadowbladeღ alright I swear I replied to this but I;m guessing i didnt hit send rip
Amberbird was at a loss as to what to say now and in his panic, and hearing voices coming their way, the tom started pushing her out of the door. He was awkward and unsure of himself and in general just a mess, so the blush on his face really shouldn't be a surprise. Nor should a cat be surprised that he panicked at a cat being nice to him. Poor Amberbird just never understands how to react. "Come back in a few days!" And promptly shoved her out the door and retreated back inside in a hurry.
A few days later, the she-cat tracked him down again only this time he was still in the prison when she arrived. Amberbird immediately blushed just seeing her, remembering how embarrassing he'd been to himself the last time they were near each other. Why is she coming this way? Does..does she want something? God don't let her talk to me again I'll just embarrass us both! He thought as he watched her get closer and closer.

( oh no rip, I hate when that happens and usually give up and write a much shorter like 5-sentences max reply because I just can't be bother to retype all of it and it hurts knowing i won't be able to remember all of it anyways xD)
Oriolelei turned to the voices, distracted enough to get completely pushed out of the den without resistance as she tried to comprehend what was happening? and why was she getting shoved out the door like an unsavory and poorly timed meeting for a very busy man? Had she offended him? Or what was it exactly that warranted this reaction? All she could read on his face was nervousness. "Uh, okay... a few days?" she echoed in confirmation but that was that.
- Come the following days when she saw him, she could not help but go over even with a cautious hesitation - she still was clear on what happened before and wasn't sure if she should even bring it up right now or not. She gave passing greeting to others in the den before finally approaching Amberbird. "Hey... so how are you?" she started a bit awkwardly, and trying to not rush into just the business of 'okay im back, give me funny leaves and i'll be on my way doc.'
(Sorry I was sick and it’s taken me a moment to get back into things!) Shadowbladeღ
Amberbird wasn’t one who socialized with his fellow prisoners, preferring to be left alone and keep to himself. So to have this she-cat approaching him in the only quiet corner of the den was enough to make him immediately blush. He sat frozen, his face growing redder every moment, and his tongue like sand in his mouth. All the poor tom could manage was an awkward, slow, funny looking head nod as a way of greeting. Which only made him blush worse. He was an apprentice again standing near their crush, it was so embarrassing. Seablossom would never let him live this down if she heard how he was acting.
He tried opening his mouth a few times, remember all those manners his sister had drilled into him but each greeting, hello, all of them were escaping him. “..do-doing?”
