The sharp snap of a twig was heard, as a rabbit stepped on it. The gray almost white creature hopped away as a lithe orange tabby she-cat gave chase. It was the third rabbit, this feline would catch that day. Brightfire pushed her hind-legs off the forest floor as she gave chase. She jumped over the stick and landed smoothly on her paws. She gave one last burst of energy , closing in on the now frantic rabbit as it tried to find a place to hide. The orange she-cat, lowered herself , wiggled her hind-legs and pounced, landing on the rabbit's back and grasped it in her mouth. Using her teeth she bit down on the neck bone killing the rabbit. She let it go, said a prayer of thanks to StarClan. After giving thanks she buried it under a nearby bush and prepared to continue her hunt for prey. She paused however hearing a voice behind her.
"Come back here!" Came a frantic voice behind her a split second before another rabbit slipped under Brightfire's paws and into a rabbit hole. Brakenhawk tried to skid to a halt but couldnt keep himself from sliding right into Brightfire and knocking her over. "Oh! Im so sorry, miss! Are you alright?" He mewed, climbing to his own paws and shaking dirt from his pelt before turning to help her up.
"Oh! Hi, Brightfire!" He greeted, helping her dust off her fur with his tail. "I didnt mean to bump into you! I was trying to get that rabbit." He pointed to the hole where the rabbit had disappeared.
He let out an amused purr, "Me too, but Im not very good at hunting rabbits. They are too quick and Im too bulky...and clumsy" he joked, picking on himself.
