Southpaw had carefully arranged everything for the cute couple she had been watching to have a romantic evening. She had gotten Valleyrose into the tunnels by faking a scream, and Carangepanic into the tunnnels by telling him that his mate was in trouble and stuck in the water underground. It really was the perfect recipe for them to meet up at lover's lane. She had carefully set out a meal for them, along with some flowers and a cute little heart that she had carved out clay. THe soft glowing moss and the sound of cricket chirps making it even more romantic!! Southpaw giggled, making her way down a side tunnel to make sure that they met up CleaverJadie
Valleyrose was in trouble and he was frozen at the mouth of the tunnel staring into the abyss. He needed to go help her, she was his mate and she was in trouble and he had to help her, but his paws refused to move. How was he supposed to help her? How was he supposed to pull her out of a tunnel full of water? He was just going to drown with her!
Carnagepanic couldn't do it. He didn't have the courage. And yet, he found his paws inching forward slowly, and he entered the passway with caution and flared whiskers. "Valleyrose?" he called out in a quivering voice.
Valleyrose did a double-take when she heard her mate's voice echo down the tunnel. For a moment she was worried it was him who had done something to hurt Southpaw but she quickly dismissed the thought given the direction his voice had come from... literally the opposite direction from where she had heard the apprentice cry out.
"Carnagepanic, what are you doing here?" She answered back to him, her voice confident and commanding, in stark contrast to her mate's voice, "And why do you sound so terrified? This isn't your first time in a tunnel."

Southpaw's blue eyes peered carefully from her hiding spot, watching the exchange. At least they had met up! Now if they only looked around to realize that they had been set up for a romantic evening... "Come on, come on" she whispered to herself, her hair standing on in "just a few steps further..." CleaverJadie
Valleyrose couldn't have heard what Southpaw had whispered, but somehow she turned to face the direction of the apprentice, the fur at the base of her neck just slightly on edge. She turned her gaze back to Carnagepanic and padded toward him, brushing her head against his in greeting before turning herself around to be standing beside him, "It's not so scary down here, but something's not right. My skin's carling for some reason... almost like we're being watched. We had better get to the bottom of this."
"Valleyrose!" His voice filled with relief to hear her answer him. She was alive! But why did she sound so confused? Was she worried he was walking into the same trap she was stuck in? He hurried deeper into the tunnel.
"Valleyrose, if you're in danger, just tell me a secret code only I would know--" he stopped as he spotted her turning the corner toward him. "Of course something isn't right. Aren't you in trouble? Southpaw told me that you were in danger, that you were stuck.... in the water...." he trailed off, seeing she wasn't very wet at all.
"No, I---" Realization dawned on Valleyrose and her expression shifted from that of concern and confusion to a playful smile, "That little sneak...! Southpaw, you're around here, aren''t you, dear?"
The calliby she-cat began to look around at her surroundings with a more focused gaze. She didn't see the apprentice anywhere but she did pretty quickly locate the meal and other decorations. Valleyrose gently pressed her paw agains the glowing moss and it quickly spread and grew even brighter, further illuminating the romantic scene before them and making it look even more beautiful.
"I don't think anyone is in trouble but you and me. We've been tricked into a date!" She giggled, amber eyes reflecting the grassy hues of the glowing moss as she turned to Carnagepanic, "Care to share this meal with me?"

and that was her cue to leave...
As soon as they stopped looking her, the little white apprentice made her quick exit to give them some privacy. She couldn't hide the grin on her face, even if they had figured it out. Cleaver
Why would Southpaw set them up? He thought they were friends.... had she lured them into the tunnels to trap them? Maybe it had been someone else forcing her to? Carnagepanic looked around quickly, his hackles starting to rise as he took a few steps back. "W-We should... we should really-"
His back leg brushed against something and he spun around with a yip to see he had run into a small clay heart. Huh? The small tom turned to stare blankly at his mate before her words finally clicked in his mind. Oh. A date?
He smiled a little. "Southpaw, you little angel," he mumbled affectionately. She was his only real friend in the clan, and she was a good one. "Uh, yeah, of course I want to!" Carnagepanic beamed at her as he bounded back to her side, patting some of the glowing moss into a nice little nest. "Here, you can sit here, and I'll bring you something to eat from that pile. Um, what do you want?"
A little silly, at least Valleyrose thought so, but it was cute and she had no problem obliging to Carnagpanic's request. A big smile spread across her face as she slowly made her way over to the glowing moss nest. When she got there she sat down prim and propper and wrapped her big, flowy tail around her paws.
"I'm not picky! Pick whatever looks best to you and we care share," She purred as she pressed her claws into the glowing moss. She activated her element and slowly but surely the moss began to spread all around the nest and up the walls, making the already beautiful space even more breathtaking.
Carnagepanic buried his head in the pile of prey, taking a healthy-looking hare from the pile. It was large enough they'd have to share it, and he felt a little fluttery inside at that thought, but he steeled his nerves and carried it back toward her. As he turned back, he blinked, recognizing now that the area looked different, soft glowing moss decorating the walls and softening the nest Southpaw had made. He smiled, trotting over to lay the prey down gently at her paws.
"It looks great," he purred reassuringly, hesitating only a second before he settled in at her side. Carnagepanic leaned against her tentatively, letting her feel the purr rumbling in his chest. "This is nice, even if she did trick us. Right?"
Valleyrose twined her tail with his and leaned into her mate a bit forcefully than he had probably been expecting. She then matched her purr to his and nosed at the rabbit he had selected.
"Good choice," She said, taking a small bite then pulling away slightly so Carnagepanic could as well, "And you're right, this is very nice, although I'm afraid she went a bit overboard. Someone doing all this for me makes me feel like royalty or something!"
You are royalty to me, Carnagepanic wanted to say, but that was a bit too silly, and he didn't want to screw this up. He said nothing as he leaned forward and took a bit of the prey for himself, chewing it slowly to give himself some time to think.
"She did do a lot," he admitted, "and she shouldn't have lied to get us here. But she's a good friend. Southpaw is a lot sometimes, but the really means well. And I'm glad she did this." He held his breath, worried she would be upset with him for disagreeing, and hurried on. "Just-just because you are special, and I want you to feel special sometimes."
Valleyrose blushed bright pink, causing the glowing moss that was touching her to also shift to a pinkish hue, not that either of them would properly notice given their attentions were on one another not their surroundings. It wasn't extremely obvious although it make the environment more... sensual, somehow.
"You make me feel like the most special cat in all of SunClan," She mewed in a hushed tone and then leaned forward, her lips brushing against his lightly for a moment before she went it for a proper kiss.
Carnagepanic purred too loud to respond as he leaned in to meet her for the kiss; when they broke apart, he rested his forehead against hers to catch his breath.
"I'm glad," he breathed; "you are." He smiled a little as he pulled back and nudged the prey toward her again. They had a meal to eat, there wasn't time to get lost in her yet.
"Right..." Valleyrose replied, purring just as loudly before reluctantly pulling herself away to take another bite of the rabbit. Suddenly she didn't feel all that hungry anymore but she liked the routine of eating it, it helped her stay calm, "... So there's been something I've wanted to talk to you about for awhile now but it never felt like the right time. Hazard a guess of what it's about?"
She met his eyes sheepishly, her cheeks still flushed. She was being awfully shy...
Valleyrose wanted to talk. VALLEYROSE WANTED TO TALK.
They were already mates. What was left to talk about? She didn't want to break up with him, right? No, she seemed happy, she wouldn't be happy if she was leaving him, right?
So what was it about??
He was full of dread as he stared back at her.
"Y-yes of course," he assured, "I've been thinking about it a lot. Um." Wait, she wanted him to guess. What should he guess? "You're breaking up with me? That's a joke. I hope."
"What do you have, bees for brains!? Of course not!" Valleyrose let out with a mrrow of laughter, tapping the side of his head in a very affectionate slap. Any other she-cat may have been upset by a comment like that but she knew her mate well enough to recognized that he was just letting his nerves speak for him. Carnagepanic always assumed worse-case scenario and in hindsight set him up for it, "I, well, where do I start? I've seen you and Vividpaw and even Southpaw. You do so well with them and they seem to really love you. It just really convinced me that now's the time... I think we're ready to be parents. It's just I've never seen the nursery so empty and it's making me have some serious baby fever."
She lifted her head up and made direct eye contact with Carnagepanic, her sunstone eyes shimmering brightly against the glowing moss. She has such exquisite features, a true beauty of a cat, "What do you think?"
Sometimes, Carnagepanic still thought his soft fur was just kit fluff, and one day it would fade away and become sleek as his father's coat. He would grow larger, too, and more muscular; he'd become confident if not handsome, and he would be a proper warrior then, an adult ready to face the life ahead of him. He had been waiting for his body to change for so long, certain that this could not be all, but he had been a warrior for moons now and eventually, he had to accept he was never going to be a strapping warrior like Vulcan. He took after his mother, soft and small and gentle. His confidence had never come in either; Valleyrose gave him the strength to become less of a coward, but when she wasn't around, his instincts were still to flee and never look back. How was he supposed to be a father if he wasn't a good role model? He couldn't even look to his own parents for support; Carnagepanic did not know what healthy parents looked like, but he knew the on-again-off-again ghost and demon weren't right.
"Southpaw is my friend," he mewed quietly, unable to hold her gaze any longer. "Vividpaw... I'm trying, I really am, but I don't think I'm very good at this. She's just nice." Valleyrose had warned him then that she was thinking of children, and it had scared him. It still scared him now. "Um... I just... I don't know if I'm ready. I-I know you'd be a great mom. I'm just... I don't know how to be a dad."
