Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Celestialkiss was many things; chosen for labor was not one of them. She was a warrior, a defender of her clan, a soldier who could better slash and put down an enemy than deal with trite matters. Yet even so, she understood there was a level of respect their leaders and healers were deserving of. Their newest medicine cat, a she-cat who had yet to be given her official name by her mentor before the passing of Fawnheart, deserved as much respect as their former healer, though there were those who questioned whether she was truly ready for the responsibility. Celestialkiss had seen firsthand how hard the white she-cat had struggled to care for her clanmates, even with the rumors spreading throughout the camp. When she was called on by Goldengriffon to assist Sakurapaw in any way necessary with Softpelt otherwise engaged in her duties, Celestialkiss hadn't blinked at the opportunity.
She did, however, clench her jaw when she learned exactly who she was working with.
The medicine cat in question padded up to them with an apologetic expression on her face and a small smile trying to curl on her lips. "Thank you for taking the time to help me, I know it may not be what you wanted to do with your day, but I promise I appreciate it." Sakurapaw inhaled a deep breath to steady herself. Though Goldengriffon had taken it upon himself to watch out for the young she-cat and ensure she was eating and resting plenty, she still felt bone tired and as weak as a newborn kitten.
"Due to the flooding territory and the risks of the mud, I'm not asking you two to be out there for long. To be honest, I wouldn't be asking either of you to do this at all if I didn't feel we needed it. We're short on supplies, however, and need to replenish our stock before we run out entirely and we can't risk that. We're in serious need of pineapple weed, fever few, lavender, and elder leaves. This is what they look like." She held up what remnants she had of each herb, expression clouded with anxiety at how little she had left.
"I'll be accompanying the two of you, but I'll admit, I won't be able to be away for long. Once we find where each is growing, I'll have to leave the two of you to it so I can return and continue the battle." She breathed and looked out the medicine den to ensure there was no one waiting to be treated. "Any questions?"

Yeah, Wolfgrin had a question. Why on earth had they picked him? The siamese tom was not known for his productivity in the slightest. Sure, he did a good job when given tasks but timeliness was certainly not his specialty. Then again, it could help others maybe? At least it would be worth his time in the long one. The warrior grinned at Sakurapaw and Celestialkiss. "Oh no, I think we'll be quite alright. We'll be back before you even know it." It sounded like she'd be with them for a short time but eventually it would be just the two of them. Not that he was complaining.
Wolfsgrin looked the other warrior over and decided he approved. While her personality didn't seem to particularly forgiving or appealing she was easy enough on the eyes that her company would at least be bearable. Or so he hoped. She appeared to be grumpy.
Sakurapaw frowned slightly at the male warrior, inwardly wondering if he truly understood the task at hand. She had an inkling of a feeling he might have zoned out throughout her explanation, but she wasn't about to question him on it. She would just run the herbs by him a couple more times while they were out in the territory. Shooting a glance at Celestialkiss and being reassured by the she-cat's serious, sharp nod in acknowledgment, the medicine cat nodded once in decision.
"Let's get a move on then." She hummed, turning and passing the two warriors large leaves. "You can place the herbs in these to help you carry them back. I want to try and gather as many as we can on this trip to save ourselves the frustration and risk of heading back out so soon."
The white she-cat took her own large leave and padded out of the den, taking the lead out of the camp and into the territory.
Celestialkiss glanced over at Wolfgrin with narrowed eyes and furrowed brows, her own leaf between her teeth. She wanted to snap something at him – don't screw this up, don't be yourself when we're out there, stay out of your head – but she decided against it. Not out of any sort of consideration for the other, but merely because they didn't have time to get into an argument. She knew when to pick her battles.

Where the other two had a grim seriousness about them, wolfsgrin appeared to be light hearted to the point of having a skip in his step. Things were simply how they were and he had nothing in particular to sit and worry over. He carried the large leaf between his teeth like the other warrior and moved along - silent for once. His silence was not because he wanted to be but because it was too hard to carry the leaf and talk. It made for a boring trip to be certain and he would be relieved when he could set it down. He scrunched his nose at the muddy territory and picked his steps carefully.
Self preservation was certainly a strength of his. He would have thought that if they had such great protectors such as Starclan, like they claimed, they would have warned them or helped prevent such a mess. The Tom certainly was not a believer of starclan. He had seen too many horrors in the world to want to believe in anything or anyone watching and guiding over cats. Finally, he spoke aloud "Do you know the locations they grow in?" It would definitely be easier if she did.
Sakurapaw tossed an amused expression back over her shoulder at the tom. "If I didn't, we'd be in a lot of trouble, don't you think?" For a moment, she was allowed a light heart, a memory of teasing her clanmates and playing with the kittens in her mind's eye before she was reminded of the grief she endured, her failure, the loss of her mentor, the clan grieving so heavily that even StarClan joined in their mourning, and now they were flooding due to their ancestors' tears. She shook her head with a sigh, turning forward again. "We're nearly there."
Several more fox-lengths later, Sakurapaw stopped and set her leaf down, lifting her maw to scent the air. "Thankfully for SpringClan, the herbs we need are within the same general vicinity." She gestured to the left, the right, and straight ahead with a small smile. "It won't be long, then we can return." There was a note of relief in her tone.
Celestialkiss nodded her head, ready to get to work, and padded to the left where the medicine cat indicated. Sakurapaw joined her momentarily to show her what she was looking for, as well as to help her identify the herb by smell, before joining Wolfgrin at his side.

He caught the brief change in Sakurapaw and then the life flickered out of her eyes once again. Interesting. There was something painful bubbling deep under the surface, he had seen that look many times. Wolfsgrin knew she had recently lost her mentor but he had never gotten the pleasure of meeting her. The poor thing.
"Well, around. You said they were in the near vicinity. I remember what the herbs look like, I have an excellent memory you know." He sniffed around, locating a familiar looking patch of herbs nearby. "I think I found one! The right smell and texture it seems but I am no doctor like you." His word choice immediately outed him as having been an outsider but the Tom didn't care much. He would happily tell others about his travels.
Sakurapaw nodded and smiled at the warrior. "You're right. That's exactly what you're looking for." She inhaled a deep breath, feeling the tension in her back muscles slowly relax, and dipped her head once in approval. "Since it seems the two of you have everything under control, I'll be returning. Fill your beech leaves with what herbs you can, we can always come back another day and replenish if need be." The white she-cat turned and padded quickly back to camp.
Celestialkiss's ears swiveled, following the sound of the medicine cat's pawsteps as they faded out of range, and glanced back at Wolfsgrin, humming and turning back to the task at hand.

He couldn't help but shoot a curious glance towards the she-cat. He had a soft spot for them, especially the pretty ones. She certainly was one of the pretty ones and he gave a hum of approval before turning his eyes away and carefully picking the herbs, taking his time. The silence between them stretched and grew until it was so daunting he would rather pull his own ears off than sit in it any longer. "Did you ever want to be a doctor?" He asked, humming nonchalantly. Weird question but doctors were kind of cute, Sakurapaw certainly included in that list.
