Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Apollowind had just woken up as the pastel tones of the sunset were melting into darkness. The dashing young tomcat made his way out of the warriors' den and just stood in camp for a moment, bright eyes glimmering in the moonlight.
"What are you doing up so late?" Suspicious eyes squinted at him through the dark as Rasputin looked over him critically. Though he had been here a few moons already, he had struggled to adjust to being awake at night, and sometimes forgot the clan's nocturnal schedule altogether; it was in his nature to be mistrustful, and he didn't like the look of a cat that was sneaking about in the dark.
The cream-and-white tabby stared with a quizzical expression on his charming face. "Hunting? I just woke up." He blinked bright blue eyes, finally catching on. "Oh. NightClan cats stay awake at night and sleep during the day," he explained.
Right. He knew that. Rasputin cursed himself silently for the mistake. "You slept to the end of sunset," he said instead. Perhaps that was normal, but it wasn't for Rasputin; he could never sit still, even when sleeping, and he had always risen before dawn when he was awake during the day, and long before sunset if he was walking through the night.
"Exactly," Apollowind responded. "A pawful of NightClan cats stick to a diurnal schedule, just out of personal preference, but most of us are most comfortable in the darkness of night." He cocked his head and swished his cream-colored tail. "Anyway, what are you doing up so late?"
He nodded slowly. That made sense; some might prefer the light, while others hid the darkness. "I couldn't sleep," he replied simply. That wasn't unusual for Rasputin.
The ocean-eyed tomcat turned and headed out of camp. "This is my favorite time of night- right when the sunset ends and the stars start to come out. Look, there's the first one," he pointed out.
Glancing up at the sky, he couldn't help a hint of a smile. Rasputin's smiles were always awkward and twisted, uncertain, but when they were genuine as this one they reached his eyes nonetheless. "I prefer when they're all out... and you don't have all these trees about, so you can see them all." He had sat below these same stars with Soaringbird, moons ago in BrookClan; how long had it been since they'd looked up there together?
