Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Life nowadays was a grayscale wash; muted silvers, stone grays, blacks, and the occasional bright spot of white that anywhere else could've been seen as a relief and a beauty in such a land of darkness, but for Chasingpaw, who struggled day in and day out, seeing such a fleck of light was like being blinded by the sun reflected off the snow of his home. The only color, a relief of pinks, purples, soft oranges and reds, like the sky as the sun set and the stars peeked out blearily behind the clouds, he ever was graced with was when he was in Subtlepaw's presence. When she was around and they were among their clanmates, it was like the saturation surrounding her was increased by a margin. He could follow the rainbow that surrounded her like a halo without issue. But when they were alone together? That color filled everything with such a radiance his heart felt light for the first time that day, every day.
It was getting harder to see her, though. After she was arranged to be married to Deathpaw, it seemed as though her family – or perhaps Subtlepaw herself – was making her keep her distance from him. The only relief he got from seeing her sunset hues was from afar, offering her the smallest smile as a token of reassurance when anything else would be caught and tortured. This meant that, anymore now, he was on his own, attempting to make his own fun, but most of the time focusing on bettering himself; his hunting, his fighting, his stalking. He needed to be the best warrior he could be to defend not only himself, but the future he wanted so desperately to have.
For the first time in his life, Wintrystar had assigned guards to watch over the prison. Perhaps she'd learned her lesson from watching the black cat with grey eyes that sometimes turned red, Stygian, he thought his name was, slip in and out of the prison so often it was more like a den than an actual cage. Today was his day to keep watch until the night shift took over. The tom sighed quietly, looking around himself. It was one of the most boring posts to be assigned. Nothing happened. Contrary to popular belief circulating the clan's rumor mill, they had had no issue with prisoners in the past, thus no need for guards. It seemed that even if they were being held prisoner and tortured, they weren't particularly interested in escaping. Stygian was the only one to slip out and treat the clan as his own personal parade ground.
A cat padded up to him – he didn't know their name, he didn't care to know – and dropped a small mouse at his paws. "Feeding time for the prisoner." The cat muttered sullenly and padded away. That was all WinterClan was; full of icy hearts who seemed to feel nothing, nor emote anything. It was incredibly droll.
Chasingpaw picked up the mouse and set it at the entrance to the prison, clearing his throat. "Dinner."

“Come on, come on…!”
Darktalon scurried along the edge of her prison wall, occasionally lifting herself up on her back legs as she desperately searched for a crevice of some kind. Some kind of opening so that she could see the night sky. She needed to see the stars. To see that Starclan was still watching over her, ready to guide her back home to Nightclan the moment she escaped. The dark-brown warrior wasn’t sure how she ended up here. She had been hunting… but then she must have drifted to close to the border. The next thing she knew, she was being carted away to this frozen tundra. She let out a frustrated hiss when she could find no opening on this side of her cell. The Nightclan warrior suppressed a violent shiver as the cold weather nipped at her from every direction. It was worse than the coldest of leafbares….
She quickly turned around at the sound of another cat, her claws sliding out of their sheaths and her hackles raised. Darktalon stared at the mouse that was dropped before her before she glanced back up at the young tom that offered it to him. She recognized him… he wasn’t like the other cats in this tundra… he had actually looked appalled when Darktalon was brought in.
The black galaxy tom blinked and lifted his gaze to rest squarely in the older she-cat's own, blinking round blue eyes that seemed to see through the she-cat to her very spirit for a moment. Sadness crept around his heart and unease prickled at his belly before he turned from her. "Of course." He whispered, voice sincere. When was the last time gratitude was expressed toward him? A nobody? Though he wasn't caged within that den, he might as well have been. He was just as much a prisoner as she was. The tom took a seat, closer to the den entrance than he usually did. He was taking a chance with her; she could easily take advantage of his back turned and attack him to offer herself escape. Though his mind whispered such dark things, instinctively he knew she wouldn't do it. Not to him. To anyone else? Maybe. But there was a kinship between them, even if they didn't know one another at all, let alone the other's name. He inhaled a deep breath, heart and mind in conflict once again.
"I'm Chasingpaw." He murmured suddenly, breaking the quiet that once again settled over the small clearing they were in. "What's your name?" He wanted to ask more. What brought you here? Why didn't you run when you discovered where you were? Other questions were rising in his heart, too. After moons of watching over her, he saw the way she stared at the ceiling of the den, as though trying to penetrate the solid substance with her eyes and gaze upon the stars that shone above. He understood the feeling well; the longing was embedded in his bones, as well. Where did she come from, that she was allowed to so clearly adore the skies? Was her clan as cruel as his? Was that why she left the safety of it and found herself here?
