Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
The mostly white-furred, adorable fluff-ball of a kitten had sneaked away from his helicopter mom's side while she took a cat nap and was presently wandering around Institute with sheer awe practically glowing behind his bright blue eyes. His gaze was trained on the high, high ceilings, so much higher than that of the nursery, and he was so enthralled by the sight that he wasn't looking were his paws were going...
... in just a few steps he'd be tumbling down a staircase if someone didn't stop him.
The leader did not share the soft spot for kits that most of his Clanmates did. He did not talk down to them nor sugar coat the truth when it came time to lecture them about the world. But he knew nothing could be worse for his new MoonClan than a kit nearly dying, so he leaped to his paws upon seeing the kit nearing the staircase. "Look where you're going!"
"What? Oh!" Firekit stopped without a second to spare, his front paw dangling over the edge of the step. The white-furred tom quickly withdrew it and turned around to see Ravenstar, whom he didn't recognize as this was the first time he'd ever seen the MoonClan leader, "Thanks mister! My name's Firekit, what's yours?"
Kits. This is why the tom could hardly stand them, but, unfortunately, he couldn't just force them to live somewhere else. The mothers were never a fan of that... unfortunately. "It's Ravenstar. I'm your leader, and I'm telling you to be more careful so that you don't up a bloody mess around here." He tilted his head to the side. "Got it?"
Firekit cocked his head dramatically to one side. It was obnoxiously cute.
"What's a bloody mess? Is it like when mama eats a mousey? She's a really messy eater, she always gets blood on my fur somehow, so much that it's starting to stick! See!" Firekit pointed at his nose that had just the faint tinge of ginger. He was a pointed cat and all pointed cats are born white, their coloring coming in later in life. It seems he would be a flame point... and no one had ever explained it to him, "Wait... am I gonna grow up to be a bloody mess!? Is that a bad thing!?!?"
He growled and lashed his tail at the kitten's questions. Had he not considered what he meant? He thought a bloody mess was quite self explanitory, but apparently little kits like him needed everything explained to them. What great parents this kit had. "No. It means you'd be a body on the ground left for the rest of us to clean up. I don't want to do that."
Uhh... did he really have to explain that he had blood in him as well? The leader eyes widened, and his claws glinted in the pale moonlight. In a quick motion he punctured the kit's skin. As a small drop rose to the surface, Ravenstar growled. "See? You also have blood. Imagine how mad your mom would be if your were as bloody as prey on the kill pile. That's a bloody mess."
Firekit winced as Ravenstar pricked his forearm and his eyes widened as a big red flower began to blossom on his white fur. The pain wasn't any worse than stepping on a rock and he'd done that dozen of times, no, what really freaked him out was all the red. The cut was deep enough that the blood absorbed into all the fur around the cut and then provided a drop that fell on the ground with an extremely dramatic splat. That, that was enough to make him start screaming bloody murder.
"I'M GOING TO TURN ALL RED!!! WHEN WILL IT END!? WHY IS IT SO HOT!? WHY DOES IT THROB SO MUCH!? AHHHHHHH!" He screamed and began running around, limping dramatically on his 'wounded' leg, "AM I GOING TO DIE!??!?"

"Firekit!?"
Diamonddust's sightless eyes snapped open the moment she heard the very first cry and in seconds she was on her feet and storming after the sounds her only son was making. It didn't take her long to pick up on Ravenstar as well as than bitter scent of blood in the air and her heart just plummeted.
"What on earth is happening, Ravenstar?!" She demanded as she picked up Firekit by the scruff and began nosing him all over. She found his wound pretty quickly and began licking at it, "You had," she said between licks, her ears angled toward Ravenstar,"Better -- get a -- healer --- RIGHT NOW."
Ravenstar's ears flattened in disgust when the kitten's dramatics began. Did his mom never explain that he bled? He rolled his eyes, and then proceeded to look even more annoyed when he heard Diamonddust's nagging voice. Of course, and now he had to deal with whatever mess she wanted make out of it. "Relax, it's just a little bit of blood." He chuckled. "Your son didn't know he could bleed, so I just pricked him a bit with a claw to show him. He's like you: dramatic."
"You WHAT!?" Diamonddust's voice rose to a tone similar to her son's but, unlike him, she managed to real herself back in rather quickly. After taking a few careful breaths to turned her head toward Ravenstar, "There are many ways to teach that lesson that do not involved wounding an innocent and defenseless kit, Ravenstar. Sometimes even the smallest scratch can be deadly and we don't even have a healer. That was very irresponsible of you."
"MOM AM I GONNA DIE!?" Firekit wailed, burying his face into his mother's fluffy pelt. His interupting drew Diamonddust's attention back to him and she continued to lick the wound clean. It was still bleeding but not very heavily, at least, from what she could gather.
"Shh, shh, you'll be all right," She cooed, moving her licks away from his wound and to the top of his head, calming him down significantly, "Everyone bleeds when they get cut like that, even Ravenstar."
Firekit gave Ravenstar an incredulous look before turning his teary-eyed gaze back to Diamonddust.
He really didn't understand what the big deal was about all of this. The kit would learn that he bled eventually, so what was the harm in taking care of it now in a controlled way? "Well, wounding is a strong word to call that. I would more say making a learning opportunity, filling in the gaps of your parenting. Besides, some other Shadowhunters know some basic healing. He'll be fine." He turned away, and then he heard what the kit said. "Be careful, Diamonddust."
