Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Hi everyone! I just wanted to make a thread everyone could just reply to and make a fun meet a greet among our lkr kitties.
A warm summer night, Tanglefoot enjoyed the gentle breeze and the slow squeak of the swings as she walked through the park. She lifted her head to smell the air and see if she recognized any scents. She detected some, but none that where familiar. Was tonight going to be yet another lonely night? Only time would tell. She hoped to find companionship on this silent night as it has been so long since she had met up with anyone. She looked around for a minute then jumped onto a nearby bench and began grooming her paw.
"Oh, you're a new face!" The cat speaking had an extremely flurry caramel cream coat and tall stature. Tall? Well, that was an understatement. She was practically a giant, her eyes level with Tanglefoot even though she was just standing next to the bench. She had a minty green bandana tied around her neck and that combined with her well-kept appearance more than suggested that she was a kittypet, "I love making new friends, do you think you'll be here to stay awhile or are you just passing through!? Oh, I hope you live near here, if you do then we can have slumber parties and trade toys and food swaps and all kinds of fun stuff! What's your name anyways!?"
Tanglefoot was initially shocked at the height of this cat, the tallest one she had seen in her numberless moons. After being alone for so long this boisterous personality was greatly welcomed. She purred as she lifted her head from her paw and said, " Well hello! I mostly pass through places but I may stay here for a little while. I suppose I could find somewhere to call home-" she paused. I guess it had never occurred to her to try and find a new clan or be scooped up by a two-leg family, "anyway I'm sure we can do some fun things! My name is Tanglefoot, what is yours?"
"Oh, how rude of me! My name is Starbucks," Starbucks explained, her tail waving wildly back and forth like a dog. She jumped up onto the bench and looked down at Tanglefoot with bright evergreen eyes, "Tanglefoot... That's a Clan name! I've lived in a few Clans myself, you know. Which one do you hail from? I don't recognize your scent but my memory's not the best, you could be from any one of them as far as I'm concerned, haha!"
"The clan I was a part of has long faded from most memory. I think I've been a loner longer than I was a clan cat at this point. My story seems no where near as interesting as yours! Starbucks you said? Tell me how you've gone from a multi-clan cat to a kittypet." At this point in her life, Tanglefoot loved hearing the stories of other's lives. She loved to listen and hear the wisdom others had to offer, it seemed so wild to her that there was still things left to learn in the world.
"Aw, I'd much rather hear your story, Tanglefoot! But I can tell you mine, it won't take all that long anyways," Starbucks explained, stretching into a laying position that very nearly took up the entire bench. Clearly there was an expectation to do some snuggling but she did leave her companion enough room to not have to touch her, "Well, where to start, I guess it would be up on the top of the mountains! You probably can't see it from here. Well. I know you can't see it from here. But way over there, or maybe over there, one of those directions is a mountain and the top of it is an eternal winterland. That's where my birth Clan, WinterClan, is. I don't remember a whole lot about my time there, just that my mom and dad were prisoners even though they were purebloods, while me and my siblings were treated as proper purebloods which is like a big deal for the snow cats. Well, one day my sister Chickadeecarol got pregnant on a dare and then for some reason went to go visit my mom and dad who at that time had escaped WinterClan and lived in SunClan, but I guess when you get into SunClan territory you have to become part of that Clan or something, so that's what we did. We changed our names and got initiated and had great fun there! But it was like SUPER hot it's literally a desert so when my parents got sick of that Clan and ran away I decided to follow them to Primal Instinct, where they were prisoners again but seemed happy about it, I think they like being catered too. But anyways the League didn't put me in prison for some reason so one day I went on a walk, got hungry, climbed into one of those big green bins, then got stuck until a twoleg pulled me out and took me home. I've been living as a kittypet ever since and let me tell you it's the BEST. You don't need to hunt, you don't need to clean yourself very much, somehow the inside of a twolegpalce is like a FOREVER icebox so I don't even get that hot anymore! It's soooooo nice. If my mom and dad knew how great it was no doubt they'd come live with me, although usually my twoleg throws out any strange cats I bring home.........."
After the story began, Tanglefoot slowly laid down to fill the remaining space on the bench and get comfortable. She listened intently to her new friend's story. When she finished, Tangle needed a moment to process. "Wow that is quite a story! Have you seen your parents or sister since you left? I think the kittypet life would be such a shock to me," she chuckled, " I can share my story if you'd like. I've really just spent my life drifting as life pushed me in different directions. I was born into a clan that was in a forest quite far from here, life was normal and simple until shortly after becoming a warrior. Territorial battles between clans became frequent and fatal. I lost my father and sister in one particularly bad fight. My clan was on its way to being destroyed at that point, with only a few of us left. Then the two-legs began entering the forest. They brought huge yellow digging monsters and ripped up the ground and tore down trees. Those of us that were able to fled. Sticking together the best we could but we had to fight everywhere we went from territorial clans we didn't recognize. Eventually we either got picked off or my friends aged on and died. I've been travelling on my own since then recently finding this area which I seem to be fond of."
"No, I haven't seen them in like, a long time. At least a couple weeks, maybe more," Starbucks said. She opened her mouth to ramble on more about her time in the League but, before she could, Tanglefoot began her story and she did her very best to pay attention and hold her tongue until the end. You see, patience and attention were two things Starbucks greatly lacked so, the longer Tanglefoot's story became, the less she was able to follow it. By the time the other cat had finished, Starbucks was batting absentmindedly at a moth that had been drawn to the bench by a nearby light. She only noticed the story was over when she felt Tanglefoot's eyes boring into her side.
"Oh that's a good story. Kind of like mine!" She guessed, standing up and stretching once more, sticking her thick fluffy tail straight in the air, "Do you wanna play or go on an adventure or something?"
(Sorry any of my other characters would have really engaged with Tangle's origin story, but Starbucks is, well, I hope you will understand xD)
Tanglefoot wasn't sure why but she liked this cat. She enjoyed the simplicity of her attitude. She wasn't sure what the night would hold but she decided she would rather trust this hyper kittypet than sit here and be bored for the rest of the night. "An adventure sounds fun! Did you have something in mind?"
"Not exactly, but there's always something going on in twolegplace! We can just wander around until we come across something entertaining. It's how I found you, after all," Starbucks purred, jumping up suddenly onto the back of the bench instead of hopping off of you'd likely expect. Seems she was still chasing that moth, "It's nighttime so the twolegs are out which means we can dig around in their treasures or maybe go swimming or we could go visit my very good friend Orion or something like that. So many options!"
Following Starbucks, Tanglefoot looked back at the bench one last time as if she was still deciding whether she wanted to leave it or not. " Are you sure it's safe to go walking about twolegplace? Visiting your friends sounds like a good option, but you're the regular around here so I guess you are calling the shots!"
"Okay sure! I think Orion lives this way!" Starbucks dropped from from her perch and landed with surprising grace on all four paws. She shook herself a bit then started wandering in the direction from which she chad came without looking back to make sure Tanglefoot was following her, "Also yeah it's really safe to wander around here at night. Foxes and badgers don't dare come this deep into twolegplace, at best you have to worry about dogs but most of them are actually scared of you not the other way around."
"Honestly I was more worried about twolegs but I guess as a kittypet they would seem less of a threat. I definitely see the pull in finding a nice twoleg family to wait on you. But what if you get a house with one of the little ones and they pull on your tail?" Tanglefoot pulled her tail to her side and shivered. Of all the things she could be scared of why did it have to be small twolegs and their grabby hands. "What are your twolegs like? They don't notice you leaving at night?"
"HMMMMMM my twoleg is a younger one I think, she has a monster but still lives with a bigger twoleg that I think is her mom. The two of them are never home at the same time though, it's so weird! No one pulls my tail but sometimes she dresses me up in strange outfits and makes me pose in front of that little box she always carries around. I don't mind though cuz at the end I get lots of trea-os and brushies."
It was becoming more and more apparent that Starbucks really didn't have any clue where she was going. Every once in awhile she would look both ways, kick a pebble then pick the direction it fell, or use some other arbitrary reason to decide which direction she was going to go next. Truth be told the she-cat was terrible at directions.
"And nah they totally don't mind probably, I mean I don't ask them if I can go out, but they are always so happy when I come back so I think it's good for both of us to have some distance every now and again."
As Tanglefoot listened to the bouncy shecat talk, she pictured herself with a twoleg being dressed up and brushed. She shivered at the idea of being messed with and trapped but if Starbucks can leave whenever she pleases, would it be that bad?
"Do you have to stay in the outfits long? Also i guess it's cool that you can just leave and come back whenever."
After watching Starbucks navigate for a while, Tangle began thinking about the bench in the park. It wasn't that she didn't enjoy spending time with this odd spunky cat, she just wondered if maybe trusting someone to lead her in a unfamiliar place wasn't the best choice. She shook off the worry and came to terms with the fact that she knew this cat had nearly no idea where they were going, but tor some reason Tangle just trusted her. Should she ask if they were lost or make more conversation and see where it went?
"Soooo do you plan on staying there long? With the twolegs i mean. Or are you planning to leave eventually?" She asked but was honestly beginning to realize that Starbucks didnt seem like much of a cat with a plan.
"Yep!" Starbucks replied, answering both of Tanglefoot's questions at once and likely spurring even more confusion because of it. A couple of turns later and it appeared that the two she-cats were on the very path Tanglefoot had likely taken to get to that fateful bench --- on the way to the forest, "I've never really set down roots anywhere before and yeah I mean I love wandering around and adventures but you know what I love more? The food that comes out of tin cans, snuggling up in a sherpa blanket and knowing that no matter what I have a home that will always be happy to see me cuz that wasn't always the case. Course I love my parents, who doesn't love their parents? But Mistyrose and Sparrowflight, well, they had a lot of kits and a lot of homes and never seemed to really love any of them. That sounds mean! Oops I mean they did love me, no doubt about that, but spend time with me and brush me and give me treats? Nah that was all Applecrumble or someone else, but my twoleg, she loves to pamper me and nothing I've ever experienced before can beat it---"
"Umm?" A timid voice squeaked from some nearby bushes, interrupting Starbucks's rambling thank StarClan, and out stepped a very young, fluffy she-cat with vivid blue eyes. Her ears were pinned back and her tail was wavering between her legs, clearly she was very frightened, "Can... cam you show me how to get back to the waterfall, maybe...?"
As Tanglefoot struggled to keep up with the ups and downs of Starbucks' stories, she wondered if Starbucks herself could keep up with her own stories if someone else was telling them. She felt a weird twinge of jealous towards Starbucks' companion heavy adventures, but that only made her want to stick around more. As the trees of the forest came into view, Tangle shook her thoughts to ask where on earth they were going but couldn't seem to find an opening to get any words in. Then came the voice. Listening to the small cat speak, or well whisper, Tangle turned to Starbucks, "Do you know where the waterfall is?" she paused for a second while looking at the young cat with compassionate eyes then looked back at her new friend, "Like REALLY know where it is?"
"Oh the waterfall?" Starbucks said after coming to a sudden halt, tilting her head slightly to the left, "Never heard of it. Tanglefoot here's bound to know though, she's a traveler after all! Right, Tanglefoot?"
The big caramel cream she-cat looked to her friend with absolute trust and loyalty, evergreen eyes shining brightly in anticiapytiong of what she would say next.
"Tanglefoot..." The young she-cat repeated, her blue eyes narrowing at the mention of the she-cat's name, "That's a Clan name. Which Clan are you from? What are you doing here? Are you---" She cut herself off and lowered herself even more to the ground, clearly on edge.
