Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
"Oh good evening Antediluvian. You look tired." Raiser Jasmine had been walking the tunnels to clear her mind and her paws had led her up this way. She hadn't really been expecting to run into anyone this late however. "Is everything alright?"
Antediluvian recognized the sweet scent of a raiser and turned his head to meet eyes with Jasmine. It sounds ridiculous, but I always work on my fighting technique when I have a spare moment. the silver tom shyly replied. His stomach growled quietly. Do you have a spare moment to eat with me? he asked. He wasn't much for inviting company along, but he couldn't remember the last time he ate, let alone with another cat.
She tilted her head to the side when he spoke. "It doesn't sound ridiculous to me. It's admirable that you are trying to better yourself." She knew many would do anything to get out of training if they thought they could get away with it. "But yes, I can join you. It's been a while since my last meal anyway." She had spent the majority of the day helping with the new tykes after all so she hadn't really had that much time to eat. She turned her paws towards Post Echo where the fresh kill pile would be.
Antediluvian smiled and followed Jasmine through the tunnels. Have you ever wished you were in a different position? the tom asked. He wondered if it was a personal question, because he didn't like them. But the words were already spoken and he didn't want silence between the two.
His question surprised her. "A different position?" She then smiled and shook her head. She understood that some cats might not understand why she chose to remain in Post Kilo to assist the origins and to help raise tykes, but she had never thought on it much until now. "I am happy as I am. My job is one of the most important jobs in the Regime. I help to raise our future. Everyone starts in Post Kilo. Each tyke must be nurtured and prepared to take on the responsibility of a soldier. That is what I am responsible for." She came to a halt at the fresh kill pile where she selected a mouse. She'd never been a big eater so this was perfect for her.
Antediluvian nodded his head in understanding as he chose something for himself to eat. I can understand that. I love my position as Mercenary. As a mentor, I feel the same way. You pass your tykes on to me. he said and chucked. He plucked a small bird from the cold pile and pawed a few steps away to lay down and eat.
Jasmine settled down beside him and took a small bite of her mouse. "Do you ever take time to relax?" She was thinking back on what he had said earlier about training in his spare time. "Even if training is important, it is also important for you to find time for yourself." Of course she was hardly one to talk since she was almost always busy tending to tykes or helping the origins. She hardly ever took time for herself. But she still liked to see to it that others did.
The silver tom felt the warmth from her fur flood through his sore bones. "Sure, when I sleep." he meowed with a laugh. "And even then, I don't get to rest much." he said in a more serious tone. He shook his head clear of the cobwebs of his previous vision, dream, whatever they were and took a bite from his meal. "You just never know when something is going to happen. Those clan cats for example," he shook his head in disgust. Antediluvian took another angry bite. "Their home was taken away from them. That could happen to us at any point." He sighed. "I apologize. I'm just really passionate about training." he laughed. He finished off his bird and turned to Jasmine. "So what about you? It must be hard to take care of the little ones."
"Well, it can be difficult, especially with the more persistent tykes, but it's fun at the same time. You never know what they are going to come up with." She gave him a small smile. "But please remember that rest is important too. If you don't get enough sleep, your body might fail you." For a moment, Jasmine's look was one of concern. "I really don't mean to be forward when I say that, but I really would hate to see you fall ill." It felt strange to say and she did hope that he didn't take it the wrong way, but someone that trained that much was at risk for getting ill and that was something she didn't want to see.
"I hope I wasn't too forward. I would just hate for you to fall ill." Jasmine's could feel her pelt heating up as a twinge of embarrassment crept in. She had this terrible habit of speaking her mind at the most inopportune moments. Nothing bad had really ever come of it, but it had led to quite a few awkward situations. He seemed to take what she said well, but even then she did realize what he did in his free time was his own business. Some cats in the Regime wouldn't appreciate someone like her telling them what they should do.
Antediluvian sighed. "Well, you're right. There's no need to apologize. For someone like me, you have to be forward." he said, a small smile rising on his grey face. He looked over towards the exit of the tunnels and saw pale, peachy light filtering through. "Perhaps I should take your advice. I have the day off tomorrow, so I might sleep in." He stood and stretched, his legs warmed from sitting with the she-cat. "Talk to you tomorrow?" he asked.
Jasmine remained where she was once he stood up, but a smile appeared on her face at his question. "Sure!"
The next day, Jasmine managed to get the day off. She had asked first thing that morning to be sure that she wasn't a hindrance to any of the other raisers. Now, she was on her way to Post Alpha to see if Antediluvian was up yet. She had enjoyed their conversation during mealtime and she was hoping that he might be willing to accompany her for a walk today. She was one of the few in the Regime that actually enjoyed going above ground for walks from time to time and doing so would be the perfect opportunity to speak with Antediluvian again.
Antediluvian was just returning from the training sections of the tunnels when he recognized Raiser Jasmine's pelt and scent. Warmth spread through his body as he remembered the relaxing meal he shared with her. For the first time in a few weeks he had willingly sat down and taken a break; not something that was easy for him. However, she was capable of convincing him with just a few words. She saw her back faced towards him and with his tail touching her back, he padded closer and met gazes with her. "Hey," he said in greeting. Her eyes were bright with energy. "No tykes today?" he asked with a flash of his smile.
She hadn't been expecting him to come up from behind her and so she had jumped slightly at the sound of his voice, but a smile had spread across her face the moment she realized who it was. "Not today. I have the day off! I was thinking of taking a walk above ground and I wanted to see if you wanted to join me." Hope flashed in her eyes for just a moment as she found herself hoping that he would say yes. "Normally I'm stuck walking with Basil. I love my brother honestly, but there is only so many times I can hear about his arguments with our father." She chuckled slightly. Basil was always butting heads with Mars, but she knew they cared for each other despite everything else.
(awww what an adorable crush I see developing! ^-^)
Antediluvian smiled. "Of course. I just got done training for the day; luckily I don't have any responsibilities today either." he purred. The grey tom didn't feel the sun as often as he probably should. She's kept me warm enough.
"Did you have an idea of where you wanted to walk?" he asked, tilting his head.
"Well I figured we could just wander around for a bit. You don't mind do you?" She offered him a small smile. It would be much easier than choosing a set destination since it meant that they wouldn't have to go back once they reached their destination. "It might be best to avoid the BrookClan border though. Commander Mars doesn't like Raisers and Guiders going near there unless they have to." She could see why though. Her father was just being overly cautious.
