Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
The time of day was night far after many warriors had been done with their duties. Whether they were hoping to find romance, flings, someone to have kits with, or are already disappointed by the turn out and want to go home the two were there and now it was time for conversations to fly. They only had 10 minutes and three partners to choose from so it’s best to ask and answer all the right questions to get to know the other.
Each speed round had a separate area for the two cats to talk. This particular speed round didn’t take place in a den or very far from the meeting grounds, in fact it came with an activity. This activity was a scavenger hunt, they needed to find something red, something new, and a frog, which might be easier said than done, but would also prove if the two work well together or not.
Astutepaw was all about this scavenger hunt, especially as someone who liked finding new things and learning about them. Many hated that about him though, because then he knew so much and tossed it back at people, whether they wanted to know the information or not. He never did it as a mean thing or to prove he knows more, he just gets excited and doesn't think about it until after he's already started talking. The main coon tom, already warrior size but still very much an apprentice, sat waiting for his partner in this activity to show up.
"YES!" Jackdawpaw cried out enthusiastically when he heard the scavenger hunt objective. Turning to Astutepaw he had already forgotten they were on a date, all he cared about was claiming victory. Him and Astutepaw would conquer all other challengers... Even though there weren't any other participants. But Jackdawpaw didn't know that, it was him and Astutepaw vs the world!
"Astutepaw you are something new to me so we already win one of them! And I'm new to you so I'm something new to you too! I say we find a frog, make it bleed and win this thing! Actually do frogs bleed red blood? I don't know I just have a hard time picturing it... I guess if the frog doesn't bleed red I can bleed. Did you happen to see a frog coming in? I didn't? But once we find a frog I'm holding onto it so I can brag to all my friends about winning this," He said proudly.
Astutepaw was startled enough that he visibly jumped when the other tom called out. Then he slowly nodded at the logic the tom was giving, it was a unique look on life counting them each as the new item. Definitely, an interesting way to do things, one that had Astutepaw's attention and interest instantly. The large tom wasn't sure if this was a competition though, had he missed something during the explanation of what they were doing? It was possible, though as he had gotten distracted thinking about all the possibilities of what they could be asked to find that he'd stopped paying attention for a bit. "Frogs bleed red, though I'm not sure it'll be too happy to be attacked and forced to bleed. Maybe we can find something else? A feather maybe or even a mushroom? Though if we find a mushroom, we should be careful, some of them are poisonous, you know? But you know there are frogs that have red marking too, but I don't believe they're in this area. And I think, if I remember correctly, that they're also poisonous, so maybe best to not touch them either. Frogs like moist areas though so we can look there or maybe even near a water area since they have their children in the water." It was at this moment that the tom realized he was rambling again, speaking all the knowledge he knows regarding frogs and mushrooms and things that are red and slowly he trailed off. "It'll be good places to look......"
"Do-" Jackdawpaw didn't have time to interject before Astutepaw began to ramble on about frogs and... And the last thing he remembered was poisonous mushrooms before he zoned out completely. When he came to consciously being self aware again about the date Astutepaw just looked awkward. "Yeah, I'm gonna have to dock points for going off on a boring rant and not having your head in the game. Astutepaw, this is a date we can win. You gotta be willing to get some blood on your paws to be the best at scavenger hunts or we'll never pass this date. Now are you with me on making a frog bleed or do you want to bring back a poisonous mushroom or whatever it was you were talking about?"
"Umm...." Were those his only options, because he really didn't want to do either. A bleeding frog would be even slipperier than it normally is and then the poisonous mushroom is well, poisonous. He'd just have to make sure to find something else that was red before it came down to cutting the frog to bleed or locating a mushroom that could kill them. "I..well where do you want to start looking? Frogs like water and moist areas, so near damp logs or a pond would be best." Astutepaw looked around, hoping in his search to find a red item before they found a frog. "Who...who are we competing against again?" Maybe the tom knew and had been listening when Astutepaw and zoned out during the explanation of this task. "And, how do we earn these points? Why do you get to take some away because I was telling you about red items that may or may not be in the area? I think that information might help us, especially to avoid something like poisonous mushrooms that could kill us. And furthermore! Who are we-" He was cut off by the tom before he could keep going with his nonstop questions and statements.
Jackdawpaw leaned into Astutepaw's lips, pressing him close into a kiss before verbally saying, "Mwah," and moving his head back. His amber eyes searching Astutepaw's before gently petting the side of his dates face, "We're in this together. Now give me a smooch back to prove your devotion to me too and let's go! And I'm in charge because I'm the leader, duh. You're the cutie with the adorable stuttering who follows after me for my good lucks and awesomeness, that's the deal."
(What clan is Jackdawpaw from cus I so love their dynamic of basically annoying the other can we keep going with them, they'd be cute mates. the forward and straight to the point one and the shy knowledgeable one) Faith
Astutepaw was... froze and blushing and did that tom really just do that! And.. and he wanted Astutepaw to do it back! But...what...how..... Atsutepw couldn't think, his brain was broken and his face was turning the color red brighter than any frog or blood they could find. Sure he knew this thing was supposed to be a date but to just.. just kiss someone like that completely out of the blue was..was...he doesn't know! Just something!
