Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Diamonddust sighed and laid her head on her front paws, equally parts exhausted and anxious. When she joined MoonClan, she'd had a spiritual awakening, and that wasn't the only awakening she'd had... the evidence of which laid curled up at her side, snoozing away without a care in the world. A lot of she-cats would consider becoming a mother the very best thing to ever happen to them, but Diamonddust wasn't convinced. She was still the same she-cat she was before going into labor, nothign major had changed and she had sort of expected that to happen.
"I'll call you Firekit," She said, licking the top of her son's head. She couldn't see that he was a white-furred tom and looked nothing like fire, but he felt so hot laying against her side, she thought it was fitting, "I'm not sure if I'm cut out for this, but I have to say my heart is full. Somehow..."
"Firekit? But he's..." Wickedshriek trailed off, deciding to leave Diamonddust alone about the whole thing. "Nothing. Never mind." So what if the kid had a dumb name? It would build his character, if nothing else. He peered a little closer at the small kit. He'd never found kits particularly appealing, and even one he'd fathered was apparently no exception. It was a weird blob of fur and viscera that had yet to develop a personality beyond being hungry and tired all the time. Wickedshriek thought that was creepy. All kits should be cordoned off in some other part of the territory where he didn't have to look at them. Yeah, that would work. He'd have to bring that up with someone.
"You'll be fine," Wickedshriek said to Diamonddust. "Can't be much worse than me, anyway."
Diamonddust turned her face toward Wickedshriek, surprised that he'd managed to escape her notice up until now. To be fair she had a good reason to be distracted, but it still hurt her pride a little bit, further damaged by her fling's clear distaste for the name she'd picked.
"He'll grow into his name, trust me," She said firmly, "All I worry about for him is the same I worry about for you and I and the rest of MoonClan..."
Where was Selene? Had she abandoned them? That was what Diamonddust wanted to say, but she realized that, despite the fact that Wickedshriek was the father of her only son, she didn't really know much about him. She couldn't reveal her doubts to a wildcard like him.
"Something big is coming. I just don't know what."
