Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Glowstar stood in the entrance of where Deal was held. She looked just as she did when he first saw her at DayClan's border. Cinnamon auburn fur with streaks so white they looked like moonlight. No green grass to be found when the snow coated the ground. But in SunClan she was forced under the name Strikhedoniadalisay. She sashayed slowly towards him, her paw gently leaning towards his face, her touch so gentle as if she was afraid he'd fade away entirely from her. Tears welled up in her eyes, "You're so lucky you've been gone for so long or else I'd lecture you like crazy for being so stupid!"
She pressed herself into Deal's chest and neck, she was always so slim it was hard to ever feel fully embraced by her, but this time felt different, more whole.
He was curled up in a tight ball on the hard ground, the cold a relentless tide seeping through the stone and into his pelt. His eyes were closed, and if it wasn't for his shivering, he'd be motionless. It was strange, being here, just delayed the inevitable. If Foxstar was trying to build suspense, she was wasting her time; he had grown close with Vera, and he knew perfectly well the only way out of this arrangement was his death. All of his deaths. I guess I'll finally learn how many lives I have left, he thought grimly, curling his tail tighter around his body. He could already be on his last. Well, at least then he wouldn't suffer quite as long under his former mate's paw, though he suspected any physical pain she caused him would just be a relief.
The agony of the truth, that would be something else entirely.....
His thoughts were interrupted by three familiar words that made his head stop. No. It wasn't possible. Had he already begun to hallucinate? He squeezed his eyes shut tighter, refusing to look, but then he felt her feather-light touch, and he looked before he could stop himself. It was her. But how could she be back here? All these moons, and he'd accepted the last time he'd see her had been at that gathering... or, if he was unlucky, at his own execution.
"Green?" Deal breathed shakily. "Is that really you?"
"So glad we could move our schedules around to be kidnapped together this time," She grinned sharply.
She could feel fire feeding on all her raw emotions that had been building up inside, "How's your health, Deal?"
There was an apologetic look in her eyes and given her question there was only one thing that this was leading up to. An adventure. Possibly their last adventure which meant it would be no ordinary task, but the way she looked at him wasn't the same. She looked at him like he might break and if he did she might shatter with him. At the same time there was a pleading look, like she couldn't do whatever she needed to do without him and given how she held back her desire to lie with him all day whatever it was had to be serious.
It was her. Studying her gaze, he knew no illusion could master that look; the eagerness to take on an adventure they both knew would probably go wrong, the apology, and something else... a look that hurt him, to know he had caused it. He was afraid to do anything with her, afraid to put her in more danger, but he couldn't resist. Deal's will had never been that strong, and if this was the last time he could be with her, he would love every moment of it.
Deal pressed his forehead against hers and inhaled deeply, then slowly nodded. "I'm fine, Green," he promised softly. "I'm okay."
It was true. Vera had treated him well, for the most part, though she couldn't control how his impending death would affect him. He moved slower and was melancholic, but maybe that was loneliness as well; at this point he could no longer tell the difference. His fur was duller, and he was in worse shape, gaunt and lacking muscle definition after having his movements limited for so long. The scars on his cheek, where he'd been struck again and again through the moons, were starting to dominate the side of his face as the fur stopped growing in around them. But he was alive. He was alive, for now.
"Then let's remind everyone why storms are named after people," Glowstar said, "Tonight we're shadows, we're half us, half darkness because our feelings can't follow where we're going."
Her green eyes were darker than forests, a gaze meant to for a cat to lose their soul in. But her smile was more dangerous than wild fires, memorizing and scary all at the same time. In an explosion of auburn and white Glowstar ran forward like a flame leading Deal down the tunnels. Weirdly enough no one was around which only meant bad things on the potential of where the Janus could be lurking. She didn't seem to acknowledge it, either accepting her luck or already knowing they wouldn't be there.
Everyone believed in her and currently, she couldn't depend on Renegade Regime. It wasn't going to happen. To be able to save everyone, but she could save as many as she could and work with what she had. To do that she was going to need to set up some traps and get some help. There were already things in motion. The Regimes help, slowly painting the image that she was becoming destroyed and torn apart. It wouldn't be long until she'd fake being a broken leader to disarm SunClan's gaze from her just a little. But also for her clan to feel desperation. That help wasn't coming even though it was. They needed that fear that there wasn't a tomorrow so they'd fight harder than any Sun, Brook, Night whatever clan cat. Now it was on to phase four... Three... It didn't matter anymore.
"One of these days I'll learn to run the opposite way when I hear those words," Deal meowed dryly, then stopped, his smile freezing on his face. No, he wouldn't; there wasn't an adventure to be had after this one. It was just her forevermore. Would she move on, find someone else once he was gone? Could she find solace in another cat and learn to forget his face? His heart twisted at the thought, but he knew it had to be for the best. He could not ask her to mourn him for long, to throw away her life for his. He loved her, but they had been apart so long already, and he hated the idea of causing her any more pain.
That was the one comfort in knowing he would die: it would be one last agony for her to bear, but after that he could not cause her anymore suffering. Just the once, and then it would be over.
As she turned and ran, the prisoner sighed, smiled again, and trotted after her with his tail swishing. At least he could try and enjoy these last few moments. "So what's the plan? We aren't collapsing the tunnel again, are we? That didn't work out so well last time," he reminded her.
"Phase one, you're going to flirt with the guard and get us out of here. Phase two we're going to dig a ditch and act surprised when we notice a lone figure in the distance. Phase three we're going to go hunt down a cannibal and phase four we're going to catch up," Her eyes lit up as she spoke, they weren't darkened anymore, but a fire bursting to life. The twinkling embers seemingly bursting from her gaze softened upon landing on his, "But listen before anything starts, before everything goes up into flames and if this is the last day for the both of us you need to know that... You're my best adventure, Deal."
Her eyes teared up, "And I know people have said that you've made my life hell, but I didn't mind getting burned at all. I'd burn with you any day, I decided that the moment I said I love you and that feeling has never faded. I love that you're wild and you allow me to be wild in my way and I allow you to be wild in your way. And I just want you to not forget," She looked away now rubbing at her eyes, "that I love you and all of the scars that came with and after you and since we're not afraid of getting burned. Let's give them our hell fire tonight."
Her eyes gazed back at him, seemingly flickering between burning out and transforming back to wild fires as she watched for his reaction.
Flirting? He was a little rusty, but sure, he might be able to give it a whirl. Though Deal's strength had usually been the opposite, that he was an unexpectedly poor flirt and his charm was more in the humor of his goofy attempt. Digging a ditch would take time, but he'd rather do that than hunt down a cannibal, certainly. Please tell me this cannibal isn't related to me in any way or someone I've been involved with....
He was struck with a wave of emotion so strong he thought it would knock him off his paws, and his throat closed up at her words. Deal sniffed, trying to hold back a flood of tears. He had been rejected so many times, he had accepted that he would never be with another cat for good; that he wasn't capable of more than a fling, because he hurt everyone that got close. It had been an impossible dream that his old friend would one day become his mate, and he hadn't thought it possible someone could take their suffering and still love him for it. Green was a cat like he'd never met before, someone that could love him despite everything. They were finally together again, and he was going to die... I don't want to go. Now he understood why Foxstar had allowed this, why Green had managed to come visit him; because now that she was right in front of him, so close, the thought of losing her felt like he was being torn in half.
Silent tears rolled down his cheeks as he sniffed once more, his voice cracking as he tried to answer her. "I-I'm not a poet like you, Green... all I can say is that I love you. I wouldn't trade a single moment with you for anything else. Every day we spend together is among the best of my life." It felt so inadequate, and he just had to hope she understood the feelings of his heart. "They won't know what's coming for them."
"Don't you look at me with those eyes Deal. Mouse dung" Glowstar swore, rubbing at her eyes again to make the tears stop.
"Hey! Did you hurt the prisoner? Foxstar's going to lose her mind at the both of us, what did you do to make him cry?" Ericanorth said, glaring at Glowstar.
Glowstar grinned a bit, "I mean, I've thought of stealing Foxstar's kill, but I know Deal wouldn't like that," She nudged Deal, "Oh my God, but could you imagine her face if I killed you? Dude, she'd go insane. I'd be legit the last person she'd suspect. She'd start trying to resuscitate you like, "I WILL BE THE ONE TO KILL YOU." That would be wild, if you were cool with that, like if we were certain you somehow wouldn't make it out alive I'd totally be up for that."
She then nudged Deal again, this was the cat he had to flirt with.
Deal glanced between Green and Ericanorth a couple times before he understood, and then he was somewhat in disbelief. Did she even know this cat? What if she wasn't even into toms? He studied the pale white she-cat uncertainly, looking for something to latch on, some indication of her personality he could use. But aware he was running out of time, finally he just rolled his eyes and offered her a sigh.
"You see what I have to deal with? The first cat that comes to see me down here, and she wants to kill me. She's probably serious about it, too. Honestly, I miss the League, they were much more considerate. Vera E'tani's quite the charmer, you know." Subtly, he flicked Glowstar with his tail, reassuring her he didn't meant it. Even though he was just a feel pawsteps from death, he'd rather be here with her than stuck in the prison he'd spent the last few moons in.
"Yyyeah. How about you go back into whatever little tunnel you crawled out of so I can go home," She yawned.
"Yeah it is pretty late for everyone to be up, bet you want to head home," Glowstar said, sympathizing with Ericanorth.
Ericanorth's gaze narrowed, "No, SunClan told me to come here early, NightClan cats sleep in the day. I was up all night and all day and now it's night again. I'm so tired, my internal clock is all off. And I hate outsiders and that's all I have to see here. I just want to sleep and be back in NightClan and not worry about whatever SunClan needs of my clan."
"Oh. Well I'm a member of SunClan so I guess I can-"
"Great," Ericanorth said already padding away, "You watch him."
Glowstar stared blankly after Ericanorth before turning to Deal before leaping with joy, "We did it!" Her head hit the tunnel ceiling as she rubbed her head with a big grin, "Onto Phase 2, digging a ditch only to get distracted."
Deal chuckled. "I don't think we did very much, you had that all handled on your own," he told her affectionately. "Alright, where are we digging this ditch? Are we looking for something?"
