(Here is the Skunkpaw and Ceruleanpaw training thread! @ian seeker )
The Loyal Guard gave her sister one quick nose boop before going off to train her new apprentices. Mantisopera trotted around camp hoping to find the young cats feeling excitement in giving them their first training day. She had so many ideas on what she wanted to do and teach them but did not know where to start so she needed to see what they already knew. Probably not a lot from what she heard at least thought that could be changed. The she cat continued to walk around hoping to spot them somewhere.

Skunkpaw let out a sigh; this was his second mentor, after the mentors got switched around to honor the new class. Hopefully, it would be his last. After all, Skunk and Cerulean had been... quite honestly a mess without guidance. "Mantisopera," he greeted his mentor as he padded up, Ceruleanpaw in tow.
Ceruleanpaw kept his eyes on the horizon, glancing at his partner through peripherals. Things between the two had never quite settled into normal after the whole "finding my dead dad and then almost drowning myself in a river" incident.
He yawns softly, though from pure exhaustion, and not boredom. He hadn't slept well after seeing his father's lifeless body. "G'evenin." he murmurs.

Mantisopera noticed Ceruleanpaw's exhaustion but didn't say anything choosing to respectively not notice. During the ceremony one of them mentioned something about a dead body having let it slip by mistake. She carefully talked around to figure out what happened finding out the truth about the situation. Or well what was known about it anyway. The she cat was suprised with how well they seemed to be taking it...seemed that is. She would be careful and try to learn more from themselves.
"Welcome Skunkpaw, welcome Ceruleanpaw. Today we will be training at the Training Meadows for a good bit before moving on to somewhere else. Do you have any questions before we go. Oh that reminds me!" Suddenly both apprentices were given some pretty flower petals, whitw to Skunkpaw and blue to Ceruleanpaw.
Ceruleanpaw blinks in grateful surprise at his new mentor, looking down at the blue flower petals surrounding his paws. He picks up the little gift gingerly, having never been gifted anything before. He felt almost guilty for not giving her anything in return, though he hadn't heard of apprentices giving their mentors gifts before.
He glances over at Skunkpaw. please talk to me he silently urges. He felt like there would always be a distance. So much for top pair.
Skunkpaw didn't exactly know how to respond to her act of kindness, so instead he just let out a breath and gave her a nod. "They're pretty," he agreed with a blink. "No questions here, ma'am." Skunkpaw was one of the more skilled apprentices, and he was finally ready to stretch his muscles again. He needed a challenge. He glanced at Ceruleanpaw, offering a half-smile. "Ready, kid?"

"Excellent! Then just follow me." With that the she cat made her way with the two apprentices close to her heels. Mantisopera had so many ideas but which one did she want to do for their first training session together?
Before they knew it they had made it to the Training Meadows. Turning she looked to the apprentices. "If I remember correctly you two were reassigned to me for training. Tell me, what have you been taught? Do you know the basics for correct postures and positions for fighting against another cat?" She carefully watched the pair uncertain of what level of training they were actually at.
"Right," he meowed, affirming her statement. He still wasn't entirely sure how the duo ended up being transferred, but he supposed it didn't really matter. "Most of the time, we had been left on our own to figure things out amongst ourselves. We haven't been doing too bad, have we, Ceru?" he meowed, although he said it with much more confidence than he should have. The duo hadn't done much training at all, at least not formally. "Maybe it would be best for you to test us first?"
Ceruleanpaw bites the inside of his cheek. SO far, all the duo had done was find a dead body. They weren't really the poster children of apprentices. "Testing sounds like a good idea." The tom nods once, agreeing with his training partner.

"Okay so what I will have you two do first is to do a mock battle on one another. Show me your fighting stances, your movements and such. I want to see how I can help you and in what areas the two of you will need improvement on. By no means do I expect you guys to be prefect or anything but again this is only a mock battle. Show me just what you know and remember to not hurt your opponent." Mantisopera remembered when she and her sister Spiderbeauty had been training together and how her sister was the one who had won their mock battle. Now the pair were equal when it came to battling. seeker

The tom touched his partner's shoulder with his tail, sensing his anxiety. "It'll be fine," he promised lowly, before taking a few steps away from Ceruleanpaw. Things were awkward between the two, perhaps rightfully so, but Skunkpaw still cared for the tom. He looked at the other tom, offering a nod. "You want to strike first?" he offered to the other with a blink. There was a particular advantage to the first hit, but in all honesty, the two were on equal footing.
