Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
(Sean and Deal are going to have a play date that goes wrong, anyone's welcome to join in! But uh... No it's going to get pretty funny and crazy so don't jump in and expect a serious rp drama! xD) Cleaver
"This is nice," Sean said with a smile as he walked along DayClan's surface or- well- DayClan's territory. Sure his sister and his wife had gotten into quite the argument and the alliance was already being held by a thread that was slowly thinning apart. But like... Deal was here? And like, how could he resist hanging out with him? But then the Regime was just so dark and uninviting, they needed the perfect scenery to really enjoy themselves so DayClan was just perfect!
Stopping in front of Endless Falls he nudged Deal, pointing towards some food he had gathered for the ducks, "I thought we could start with feeding the ducks. Then stroll through the tulip fields, maybe do a rock hunt where we find a rock that we feel reflects the other person's soul and explain why. Just cute friend stuff. OH! And we could watch the sunset, that would be so adorbs. I haven't seen a sunset in so long!" Sean emphasized enthusiastically.
"It is," he agreed easily. How long had it been since they had hung out together? Deal couldn't remember, he just knew that the instant Sean stepped out of the tunnels, the weight on his shoulders was erased by half. He didn't believe for a second that their day would go smoothly, Sean had a tendency to make a mess of things . . . . and so did he, so really, a disaster was just inevitable. But they'd made it to the falls without any trouble, so he was feeling confident.
"Why haven't you seen the sunset? You can't possibly spend all your time down there," he marveled with a shake of his head. Even during his brief stint as a Sentinel he rarely spent a full day below the surface, preferring to come up and get air whenever possible. Of course, it helped that there was usually more privacy above ground for when he wanted to spend some time getting to know some new she-cat.
He stopped in front of the food and skimmed over it with a paw. "We just throw it toward them?"
"Yeah just throw it at the ducks," Sean nodded to his friend, "And I have been spending all my time underground things have been really tough. Plus Shule wants me to be a big strong tom that can have her back and not wince away from danger. I've always just been a coward so I've been trying to be brave for her and take on work as much as she does. Oh and my kits have been a nightmare and Shule basically invented a kiddie bootcamp to put them in when they misbehave so that's been great," He said, his smirk hanging off the corners of his lips.
Sean sat back admiring the scenery before looking to Deal, "So anything going on for you lately?"
In the background there was the chat of four squirrels chasing one another around rather obnoxiously with three seemingly following one.
He scooped up a pawful of food and flicked it toward the ducks, letting it scatter at their feet. "I know you love her, but Shule has always seemed like too much work," he commented absently. They hadn't interacted much, maybe once and even then in passing, but he had heard more than enough whispers about how cold she was. She had murdered his ex-mate as well, and even if Foxstar had more than deserved it, it was a harsh punishment.
Picking up another pile of food, he reeled back this time and really let it fly, hurtling the food toward the duck with more force than necessary just for fun. "Honestly? Nah. I've been spending a bit more time in DayClan territory, but it's harder than I thought. I mean, I knew it would be weird, but I didn't expect to have cats hitting on me and ghosts trying to date me in my dreams... Not that I mind."
"Oh... I mean, yeah. She um. She cares though," Sean said with a soft smile that came off a little forced. Picking up some food he tossed it into the water, but the toss only traveled a small distance. But he seemed to recooperate fast hearing about Deal's life, "Yeah! Well that's DayClan for you, for as much cats as they have they don't have a lot of romantic relationships. I bet they're all just desperate to find an even semi-good guy, meeting you must be like hitting the jackpot," He shrugged with a devilish grin of amusement before pausing, "Hey um. Deal. We've been through thick and thin together do you um... Do you think-" His gaze trailed off to the squirrels off to the side.
There off to the side were three squirrels, two holding a squirrel down as one approached forward to the trapped squirrel. "SQUEE, SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK!" the leader squirrel cried out.
"SQUEE, SQUEE, SQUEE, SQUEE!" The other squirrels agreed.
The leader squirrel stalked forward to the squirrel trapped down, leaning down low. The trapped squirrel stared up at the leader before rearing up its hind legs and scratching the lead squirrel over the eye. "SQUEE. SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK," The squirrel spat.
The leader squirrel growled before lashing out the other squirrel across the throat. Stalking forward the leader washed its paws in the water before looking up and noticing both Deal and Sean's stare.
"Uhhh... Did we just witness a murder?" Sean whispered to Deal.
"SQUEAK!" The lead squirrel cried.
The other two squirrels began to move forward towards Deal and Sean.
Deal chuckled, thinking he might be right. He had been holding back recently, starting to see that jumping from relationship to relationship and dating every cat in the clan possibly wasn't the best idea, but he was still tempted by the idea of a whole clan that was just looking for someone like him. A semi-good guy, that described Deal pretty well, didn't it? He glanced up at Sean curious as he started to speak, then followed his gaze to the appalling scene before them.
"How that that even possible?" Deal hissed back, his voice low despite the lack of threat to them. The army marching their way made him uneasy, and he shifted back a step, his fur starting to stand on end. They were squirrels, prey, not predators, and yet... two cats versus three squirrels still shouldn't be a hard match!
"I can take them, but I'm scared!" Sean said, instantly breaking into a run as the three squirrels charged forward at the pair.
Sean ran at a break neck pace, but his running formation was sloppy compared to that of the graceful bounds nearly every clan warrior had learned. Instead he had the long lengthy legs of a good runner, but none of the practice from all his years growing up in short and narrow tunnels.
Springing ahead he noticed DayClan's camp coming up in the distance. There was no way that the squirrels would follow them in, there were too many cats who hadn't seen the situation who would dive right at the squirrels.
"Deal, it's right up ahead!" Sean called back to his friend. But Sean didn't see the plot ahead. He couldn't have looking back at his friend. He didn't see the black squirrel crawling from the edge of a tree with a... Oh no... a SHARP wood chip in its precious tiny wittle paw. The squirrel was hurdling right for Sean with only seconds for Deal to react or just let Sean get a splinter.
He was ready to stand his ground, but more than ready to flee the instant Sean broke away. He spun around and dashed out on the tom's heels, easily keeping up at his side. Deal's legs weren't as long, but he had plenty of experience running away from cats that wanted to kill him. It had been a few moons, but the run almost felt good, the cool air rushing through his lungs and the adrenaline thrumming through him.
Then Deal spotted the murderer waiting in their path, and his stomach dropped. "If I lose a life, I'm taking one back from you!" he yowled as he shot forward, using his running skills to his advantage now to outpace Sean. He lunged at the squirrel and bowled it over, bravely risking a splinter to the neck.
"Are you talking to me?" Sean asked, almost in surprise, like his mind couldn't even fathom Deal asking for a life from him.
The squirrel locked eyes with Deal, within her eyes, nothingness. Inky beady black eyes, like a starless night sky poured into her sockets was staring Deal down like prey. For today, prey had finally become the hunter. Somewhere between being a forager, roaming on the forest floor, vulnerable to the predator masses she evolved far from the meek rodent that she descended from. She ascended into something fiercer, braver. But more importantly, something stronger than him. Not from the muscles she had grown in her arms or the close to sentient knowledge she possessed, but from a feeling in her bones that knew she was better than this cat.
With a screech mightier then thunder the black squirrel propelled its wood chip without hesitation into this new cats path. There was an instinct this squirrel never had before, aiming for the cats jugular. Driving the wood chip down with all her might she stabbed into his fur, but never found the skin. Deal had swung her clear into the heavens. Probably because he used the force of someone trying to push back another cat and a not a squirrel. She wavered in midair, flying past trees, she even felt her paw swipe through a few leaves. She was sailing backwards, watching the cat get farther away. Tilting her head up to look into the sky she remembered how she would climb every tree just to touch a cloud, never getting close. Today though...
Her paw flittered into the air, reaching for the cloud, her cloud.
There was a sickening crunch as her body hit the tree, her neck hanging loose, but her heart still beating. She was broken, no longer the predator, but she did touch the clouds.
"HOLD MOUSE DUNG DEAL. What the HELL, that was a little overkill, oh my gosh, there's-there's blood everywhere!" Sean cried out staring at the horrific display of the black squirrel's head hung over, its chest heaving up and down rapidly. Just then he spotted another squirrel and stiffened as it inspected the black squirrel. Only it didn't strike them, only silently tracing its paws down the black squirrels back, "BLIND PROTECTOR, oh my gosh, I can't handle this. Is that her mom? Oh my gosh, you just crippled that mama squirrels daughter, holy fluff, I feel so bad. But honestly, I'm just glad to not be you and have that on my heart," He said, using the same wood chip that was meant to stab him in the neck to try and discretely pick the food out from his teeth.
