In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
"Weird," Sunpetal supplied. "Tunnel-cata are weird. But seriously, they live underground like... like... rabbits! You know, how they have those warrants or whatever. Like I said: Weird." She didn't know much more about them - maybe something about an old rivalry with FallClan? and a group that once lived beneath SummerClan territory? - and honestly, she didn't care to either.
She nodded at Sunpaw's description, turning to scope across the horizon as if she would see which direction would lead them to such a place. "Well, if it's a forest we're looking for, then let's get going! C'mon maggot, get a move on!" And with that, she shuffled Sunpaw ahead of her just to get the apprentice moving, but it wasn't long before Sunpetal remembered that she was the senior and thus the boss on this journey, so she bounded ahead and marched them right out of SummerClan territory, singing a merry, "Bye~ Be home soon~" over her shoulder.

Sunpaw listened intently, before letting out a giggle. Rabbit cats? She couldn't even imagine. "That sounds weird," she announced, "can you imagine never seeing the sun? Ever? They probably have really bad eyesight, you know." It was clear she wasn't a full believer in the idea of tunnel cats, whether they were real or not. She hadn't met one yet, and that meant she didn't exactly believe in it.
Still, she was following Sunpetal as quickly as her paws could carry her now, ignoring the way she had called her maggot. Whether she found her brother or not, it'd be nice to get out of SummerClan territory once in a while. At least that was what she told herself.
Sunpetal mulled over Sunpaw's question. "You think they believe in the Sun God and Moon Goddess? StarClan? Kinda hard to worship something you never see," she said, but she frowned at that. Technically, few cats ever saw the deities they worshipped and were really just hanging onto the proclamation of other cats who claimed to see aforementioned deities - which, again, could just cycle back to it being exclusive and now she was really second guessing her own faith in StarClan now. They'd only been gone for five minutes.
"Anyway," she glossed over her internal crisis, "maybe they're all blind and ashamed of it and that's why they live underground. It's just," her face scrunched up into a giggle, "a clan full of blind cats bumping into the walls."

"Well if they never get to see the sun or the moon, I doubt it, you know?" she pointed out thoughtfully, "maybe they worship like...dirt or something. Is there a dirt god? Or a mud god? Or like...a mole god?" she was just blabbering on now, as if speaking about something deep and philosophical instead of making things up. "Maybe one day we'll meet a molecat and we can ask them! Where do they live now?"
Sunpaw giggled. "If that's true, maybe they're like bats, you know? They can see with their big ears!"
"A mole god," she echoed, a touch of fondness in her voice. It made her think of her late brother, Molemound, and she found herself missing him for the first time in a long time, the pair never having been as close as she was with Weevilspike. She didn't have much time to linger on the thought before the apprentice was carrying on, asking questions and then talking over herself with more theories, and Sunpetal found she was enjoying Sunpaw's presence despite their shared name. She laughed. "Can you imagine if they were like bats? Just...screaming at each other to see. They're very good at stealth, " she giggled.

"That would be a terrible way to live," she giggled alongside Sunpetal, "I think I'm already going deaf from some of the other apprentices' snoring, I can't imagine if I had to scream every time I want to see something." Her ears were perked as she looked forward to the direction they were heading. "Are there even more weird cats around here? Mole cats...do you think there are any sky cats? Or cats who only live up in the trees?"
"Just wait till you become a warrior," she snickered, "It's way louder. I still sneak into Papi's den sometimes or take a few poppy seeds before bed." It wasn't the healthiest habit she'd picked up, but she wasn't scared enough of Vulturemalice to respect her authority unless she explicitly asked for it. At Sunpaw's follow-up, she smiled slyly, eyes flush with memories. "I'm not so sure about sky cats but there are sky ants."

Sunpaw giggled. "I've never had a poppy seed...I think. What do they taste like?" She didn't seem to notice what bad habits were, after all. She was still too young to really understand any of that.
"Sky ants?" she echoed, her brow furrowing, "what are sky ants?" She knew what ants were, they were kinda weird when they started climbing up her paw.
"I don't taste much of anything when I eat them," she admitted, "but they have a nice little crunch. I prefer sunflower seeds for the flavor. Have you ever had any of those? We can probably find some, but a lot of them will have already been plucked clean by birds." She cast her gaze around them, for once not knowing which direction served them best going forward. Sunpetal knew all of SummerClan territory by heart and could easily locate whatever she wanted, but out here in the open wilds, she had no clue where to turn.
She then glanced at the sky, as if to dare them to unleash their sky ant army upon them. "Sky ants are invaders that come ever leaf-bare. Last year, Sir Fisher and I led the - successful, might I add - charge to get rid of them. I'll have to start training the new maggots for this year's war," she mumbled half to herself.

She nodded intently. "If they don't taste like anything...why do you eat them? What do sunflower seeds taste like?" She was always curious about everything and anything, after all. "If birds eat all the sunflower seeds, does that mean we should hunt there?" She glanced up to Sunpetal's face as she searched around, eyes wide as she seemed to search for a direction. Did she know where they were going? She was about to ask when Sunpetal talked about sky ants.
"That's weird," she frowned, "I've never heard of that ever. "How do you even train to get rid of those?"
She looked around once more. "Are we almost at the border?"
Sunpetal mulled over the question. "Sunflower seeds are salty," she said at last, still trotting aimlessly forward and hoping Sunpaw wouldn't notice the way she seemed to look around in stifled alarm. She had everything under control. "I guess it would make sense to hunt there, huh? I've never thought of it, but I know I don't like to run for my life after a meal." She giggled at the image of bloated birdies struggling to lift their fat, seed-filled bodies skyward.
Then she was all business again at the mention of sky ants, a stoic commander with a somber look of reflection on her face, "Lots of cats are still scarred from the last sky ant war. It was...devastating," she shuddered, "So, so many casualties on both sides. But we'll need to prepare early this year if we want to stand a better chance against the invasion."
She was, momentarily, thankful that a nearby noise drew their attention away from Sunpaw's latest curiosity but that relief was short-lived when she saw what that noise heralded. The great, lumbering form of a badger lurched towards them, its long claws scoring the earth.

She didn't know what those salty sunflower seeds were like but she was definitely curious now. "I guess I need to try those," she hummed, already adding them to her mental bucket list along with poppy seeds. They both sounded tasty at least, though she wasn't sure whether they'd be tastier than a nice, juicy vole. Hm...
The young apprentice beamed at Sunpetal's agreement, eager to impress. Though she wasn't still 100% sure on what a sky ant war was, she just shrugged. "I don't know anything so you'll have to start training me from the beginning," she pointed out as they trotted along, when suddenly a noise caught her attention.
She turned, squinting at the rustle of grass that parted only to reveal black....white...
"A badger!" she gasped, looking eye to eye with the fierce looking creature, her long fur already puffed out in alarm, "RUN!!!"
Sunpetal had already turned, yielding to her primal instinct dictating that flight was a better option than fight, but she resisted long enough to shove Sunpaw forward. The reality that she was the authority figure and therefore responsible for the apprentice's safety in a matter that was surely life or death was dawning on her suddenly. It'd just been fun and games, something to lord over and throw around with abandon, but now that she was acutely aware of the gravity of someone else's life being tied to her decisions, she felt her chest seize up.
...Or was it the running? She never did have the most endurance, even now after moons of training.
Her paws practically dug divets beneath her, scooping up earth and scattering it towards the beast, her breaths so hard to come by with how her lungs seemed to twist around each other. She had to think - and think quickly. "Look, Sunpaw," she gasped from beneath the other, "whatever you do, don't turn around, okay? Keep running and I'll catch up." With that direction imparted to her, Sunpetal steeled her nerves and pivoted impossibly suddenly, turning to dart back the way they'd come - right into the badger. She dove beneath it and it, trying to follow, somersaulted over itself, plowing into the dirt.

Sunpaw's wide hazel eyes were like moons, as she raced after Sunpetal, her shorter paws only carrying her a few steps behind Sunpetal. She could hear the footsteps behind her, coming closer and closer, and she closed her eyes, hoping that the badger would just lose interest, when suddenly, she heard Sunpetal speak. What?
"No, wait, what are you–?!" she gasped, before the other cat immediately disappeared. Oh gods. Oh no. A chill ran down her spine. "Sunpetal!" she screeched, feeling the fear well up in her, wishing so badly to turn around and to help but...but...she told her not to look back...but how could she not?
"No, no, no," she gasped, already dreaming of every horrible outcome that could result from this. They were close to some trees, maybe...maybe....
She immediately pivoted once she passed a tree, ducking behind it to look around for the shape of Sunpetal in the long grasses. She couldn't have died, could she?
Even if Sunpaw would have looked back, all she would have seen was a cloud of dust obscure the result of Sunpetal's bravado. It would take several painstakingly dreadful, long minutes before it cleared enough to see through it and.... they were gone. There was an obvious dent in the earth from where the badger's body had collided into it, but no sight or sound of either it or the Garden Keeper anywhere to be found.
However, a twig snapped behind the apprentice, the source shrouded by the low ebony branches of the copse she'd taken shelter in. An exhausted Sunpetal lurched out, panting and her skin nicked by the sharp thorns she'd dived into to escape, but no worse for wear. "I lost it but we should get away from here now," she encouraged after checking the apprentice for signs of injury. As if in response, the badger snarled in the distance, crashing around fruitlessly.

At first, her eyes were wide, impossibly so, before they started filling up with tears. "Oh Sunpetal!" she lunged at the other she-cat, hugging her tightly as tears began to roll down her eyes, "I thought you were dead! I was so scared that you'd die!" Her wide-eyed stare didn't seem to leave the older cat, still baffled that they were both alive right now. "What if you were eaten? I couldn't live with myself!"
"Sunpawㅡ" She didn't mean it to be so abrupt and cutting, but she knew the matter called for her to be firm. She shrugged the apprentice off and shoved her forward. "I'm okay. I'm sorry. We have to go now." Every second they waited was one that brought them closer to their dooms, and Sunpetal had zero plans of dying yet. She jammed her nose into the other's flank until she was sure Sunpaw was moving of her own volition, then she hurried to catch up to her side as they escaped further into the pine forest and further away from home.

There were tears rolling down her eyes, her nose already snotty as she continued to hold onto Sunpetal, only letting go when the other cat pushed her off. She had almost forgotten that the badger wasn't all that far away, as she stumbled forward, taking a few unsteady steps before finally getting her legs to work properly, running after the other cat, still in shock over what was happening.
"Where'we going to hide?" she sniffled, "will it chase us back to camp?"
"I don't know, keep running!" The question was one she didn't know herself, but she did know they wouldn't be going back to camp tonight.
The two frantic she-cats continued onward until their lungs were scorched by their breaths and their legs by the shoots of adrenaline, until they were sure the sound of the badger's threats were too distant that it could scarcely be discerned over the thunder peeling into the still evening. "Okay, okay," the elder of the two panted, allowing herself to slow down only once she was sure they were no longer being pursued. Her paws felt like they were going to fall off but she pressed on. "I think we should find somewhere to sleep before it gets too dark, yeah?"

Sunpaw had never run so much in her life before. She was heaving, trying desperately to get some air when they stopped, collapsing on the ground after that huge boost of effort, sucking in air from her mouth as if she was a drowning fish...wait, did fish drown? She didn't think so. Oh well.
"Yeah," she said weakly, the tear tracks still fresh on her face, the exhaustion now chasing closely after the young she-cat, "should we...should we..."
She glanced around, before noticing exactly where they were. "Oh I know!" she spoke brightly, "there's a really big tree nearby I think...it had this little crack in it that you can squeeze through, I remember talking to some other apprentices about it, we were joking how it must be a squirrel's secret stash. Maybe we can find a shelter there?"
