Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
As he walked along the bank of the river. He gazed up at the tall waterfall in front of him. The light from the moon glistened on the falling water. He stood there quieting enjoying his peaceful surroundings. While Serpenthaze could enjoy the company of others. He did enjoy the peace of listening to nature. It allowed for his mind to wander, to assess the situation he had been placed in. His mate, his first love, and the mother of his young children had recently past away. He now found himself to be a single father with only the help of his brother, and his childhood friend to help his three children. He had chosen to name them after his mate’s favorite flowers. “Vintagefox I wish you were here to watch your children grow.” He murmured only to be met with silence.
(I will be adopting out his children, brother and childhood friend soon and dive further into his backstory)
Really, the Ravenpaw knew nothing about grief. Though some of his littermates passed when the Clan was ousted from their home during his kithood, he hardly remembered the emotions let alone the funerals themselves. He could never imagine losing someone so close to him. A mate? The Maine coon had no idea what that could even feel like. At least Serpenthaze had his kits, even if it would be much harder raising them without her. He approached wordlessly from behind. "Hey... it looks like your going through some hard times. Is there anything I could do to help out?" It felt strange, reaching out like this, maybe it was as awkward as he sounded.
The soft sound of paws steps approached from behind him. A small swivel of one of his over sized ears showed that he had acknowledged who had approached. He had never expected one of his clanmates to find him all the way out here. Or rather to offer some words of support. His eyes were clear of tears and while his face held a sad almost painful smile. He had accepted the reality of the situation days before Vintagefox’s passing. “I’m coping, my brother has been helping out a lot actually. My children seem to have taken a liking to him actually. Which is good it helps keep their minds off of their mother. Truthfully I don’t know how he does it. I feel like I’m no good at being a father, and I’m not sure how to actually parent, but it seems to come naturally to him. Half the time I’m not sure what I feel about the situation.” Serpenthaze replied truthfully and felt the heat rising under his pelt. He hadn’t meant to confess his true feelings on the matter to the other tom. In a way it sounded heartless, but grief is different is everyone. “Apologies for unloading all of that onto you.” He apologized feeling awkward in the moment. He wasn’t sure what to say to the other tom.
He had the best of intentions when he approached the grieving tom. He wanted to try and comfort the Shadowhunter, but he just felt completely out of his element. As the older tom vented Ravenpaw's ears went back and he tried to hide in his own fur. He didn't want the whole lifestory of this time, but he couldn't exactly tell a grieving father to shut up. So he just stood there, trying harder and harder to disappear into the background. When he stopped, Ravenpaw slowly relaxed. "I mean, that's okay. My parents always joked with me and my siblings about how they didn't know what they were doing. The just kind of did what they felt worked, and I didn't turn out too bad." He shuffled his paws. "Errr... I'm sure you'll do fine, just don't think about it. That usually works for me with new stuff."
