Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
It had been several days since the priestess promised had given birth to her two kits, and it was time for the rest of the clan to meet her two little ones. It was tradition in SunClan for the members to shower new queens with gifts and presents, in celebration of the new life being born into the clan. The celebration had been put on hold, until Littlebird had been able to recover a little of her strength and bury the kits who had not made it. Her kitting had been a difficult one, and she had almost died.
Now that she was a little stronger, guests would be allowed to come and visit to see the two newborns. She had named them Lionkit and Fernkit. Lionkit was a large gray tabby, who resembled her father. It was is his memory that when he grew, this kit would be known as Lionpride. Fernkit was named after her real father, not that the clan would suspect that they were not Skipstep's children. When she was older she would be known as Fernskip. A way to honor both father and her biological father.
The fact that it was the priestess promised who had given birth meant that is was expected of all SunClan cats to make an appearance. A fact that seemed a little daunting to Littlebird who still was far from one hundred percent recover. Still she had groomed herself and the kits, and tried to put on a brave face with skipstep at her side.
He tossed his gift with a flick of his neck and sent it tumbling down to her paws. "Congrats on your accomplishment, little bird," the initiate said dryly, his tone gruff and unimpressed as always. Singedwolf scowled as he hovered protectively over her shoulder as if he had never left, just a natural extension of the Priestess Promised by now. The kitting had not been to his taste, but he would keep an eye on her even if it meant dealing with kits. They'd learn soon enough to leave him alone. He hadn't offered her any condolences for her loss, just returned to work in silence, but he knew she didn't expect that much from him. He was not a cat to be so sentimental.
Though he acted like it was nothing, just a custom he was forced to observe, upon further inspection it was clear he had put some effort into his gift after all. It was a tiny bluebird, delicately killed to preserve it; white speckles decorated the wings like freshly fallen snow from some early vitiligo. The feathers would make comfortable padding for her nest, and a toy for the kits once they were older, and the bird itself could be food.
It was only fitting that it was her guardian who had brought her the first gift. After all, he was the reason she had managed to escape to SunClan in the first place, and had been at her side ever since. However, she hadn't expected his gift to be as thoughtful. As loyal as he was, he wasn't the soft sentimental type. To receive such a gift from him, meant a lot to her.
She admired the way the bird had be preserved, and the appearance of freshly fallen snow upon it's feathers. She looked up at him with a smile "Thank you" she replied.
Glowstar seemed to come in with a bird in her mouth, however when she dropped her gift they were just a cluster of feathers. Five of them. She nosed three grey feathers forward, "In DayClan these feathers represent protection. We give one feather to our young at birth and two feathers when they become apprentices. So long as your kits wear these feathers DayClan will always look after them and they may go between territories to learn and explore both lands. The third grey feather is so you may accompany them as you wish. Though, make sure they've grown a bit, our only true predator are hawks. And then these last two feathers you can give each of them when they're an apprentice, they're very rare."
She pulled forward a beautiful blue feather, it wasn't natural. It had darker tints of blue intentionally dyed to give it a unique contrast and shading. There was white speckled throughout the feather as though pearls were woven through. A careful and precise claw had decorated this feather, "These are called miracle feathers. Kits who have survived great battles receive these whether through birth or other ordeals. My gift is for them to walk between lands and to always have twice the protection than any other kit."

Auricluster and Whitemagnolia waited just outside. When there was room The small white she-cat flicked her ginger ringed tail and stepped in to present her stargazer lily to Littlebird.
"Its not permanent and I was someday wilt. But lilies are our connection to the living and those who have passed on." Whitemagnolia gave her friend a soft smile.
Auricluster, a newly appointed Janus dipped his massive white head, gold eyes glinting as he peered at the kittens nestled close to Littlebird. He pressed a small pebble sized stone towards her nest. It was clear but veins of gold and amber seemed to strike through it like rays of light. "They will be strong and well revered in the clan littlebird." he dipped his head and stepped aside.
She couldn't help but stiffen as Strik made her appearance. Despite the sweet words and friendly gestures, she couldn't bring herself to quite trust her... much less around her little ones. She wrapped her tail around them, pulling them close to her. She had been through to much to allow any possible threat to get to close.
Yet she had to admit the the present was thoughtful. The feathers were beautiful, but it was their meaning that meant more She was unfamiliar with DayClan's traditions, but she accepted the feathers and placed them beside the other gifts. She would sort through them all at a later time "Thank you. I'm sure they will take you up on that offer one day" ---- Next she turned to Whitemagnolia, and took the small flower. The she-cat had been a friend of hers since she first came to the clan, and was one of the few who understood how deeply the loss of three of her kits had affected Littlebird. The meaning of Lily showed that the other she-cat understood her pain "Thank you, it is lovely" --- Then she gazed at the stone that the new Janus had given her. She turned it over, gazing the amber and gold as it danced in the light. The color reminder her of her father's eyes and she smiled "Auricluster, a very thoughtful gift. Thank you"
Skipstep wrapped his tail around Littlebird a bit tighter when Strik came forwards to give her gift he stayed tense but he nodded politely to the DayClan leader in thanks of her gift.
Jetclaw arrived bearing a small bundle. The tan and black she cat having been charged by her brother to go fetch gifts for the kits and their mother. Tail held high she went over to Littlebird and set down her pile. "As the best aunt, I have brought several gifts." She meowed undoing the leaf bundle and setting out the items. "A mossball," Leaning into to Littlebird she whispered. "With some catmint I raided from Twolegplace, so it'll be fun for the kits when they're a little older. But they can have some fun batting at it while their tiny. And then there's this." She drew out a pretty crystal. A fire agate as the kittypet at the odd twoleg den had told her it was called. She didn't care what the brown crystal with flashes of red, orange, green and gold was called as much as what the cat had claimed it could do. "I was told this crystal promotes courage and protection... and it's also really pretty so I thought you'd like it." She said pushing it to Littlebird. "So that's from me. And then Skipstep charged me with getting you a gift from him." She fished into her bundle and pulled out some herbs. "I asked Foxstar what herbs would help you and make sure you stay comfortable and well. So these are from him. And then these." She pushed the bundle forwards a few soft feathers gathered in the bottom. "I gathered some feathers, that should hopefully make your nest more comfortable for you and the kits." She said with a purr.
Skipstep turned to look towards Littlebird looking hopeful. "I didn't tell Jetclaw to go that crazy..." Jetclaw letting out a soft playful hiss of annoyance at her brother. "But I hope you like them." He said keeping close to Littlebird.
She couldn't say that she was all that surprised that Jetclaw had went above and beyond what was expected of her. She had been by Littlebirds side ever since she and Skipstep started talking. It was Jetclaw that had helped her get through the difficult pregnancy with Skipstep having to stay in the Janus camp.
"I won't deny that, but you are their only aunt" she teased lightly as the many gifts that she had brought were laid out with the other.
"I love them" she purred as she nuzzled her mate and then grinned at his sister "Setting the bar high for next time, mmmm"
Jetclaw chuckled, "Next time, I'll go out and hunt the biggest prey I can find and bring it back so that you'll have plenty for days, along with Fernkit and Lionkit. I'll have to think of something else I'd have to bring for your newborns, but at least for you and any of your kits that can eat prey will have plenty." She said with a mrrow of amusement. "And even though I'm the only aunt, that just means I have to go all out. Else Grace might come back from death and kick my tail." She said lightly.
Skipstep looked surprised. His sister normally avoided mentioning their mother and sister as much as possible. He let out a purr that for the first time in a long time Grace's name was uttered without that telltale twinge of sadness and grief, but instead celebrating her. He glanced towards little Lionkit and Fernkit. Though they did strongly resemble their parents Littlebird and Leatherstar, their similarities with Skipstep and Jetclaw's families were easy enough to play off. Fernkit looked like their darker mother and sister after all. And Lionkit just took strongly after Littlebird's side.
Littlebird didn't have the heart to tell her that as the priestess promised, neither she nor her children would ever go hungry. Still, it was a sweet gesture. The mention of their sister made her smile, they didn't often talk about their family. It always made them sad, but it seemed like this litter was healing for more than just her. Both Jetclaw and Skipstep seemed happier.
"Now don't go to overboard, we don't want them getting spoiled" she replied with a wink. No she wanted to give these kits everything that had been denied to her. A loving and supportive family, to know who they were, to not have the internal confliction of divided loyalties. She wanted them to grow up with out a care in the world, to just be kits. She had been forced to grow up to fast, and she didn't want them to go through the same thing.
