Burntpheonix chuckled as he held his paw out to one of the clan's newest kits and revealed that their beads were matching. He wasn't sure exactly what he had been expecting, but he wasn't mad about it. He enjoyed spending time with kits even the ones that were not his own. He leaned down until he was eye level with Wickedkit "Well hello there. It seems that we have been paired together for the week. I'm at your service mi lady" he bowed down deep, with a dramatic sweep of his tail ashestoashes

Wickedkit...a lady? That's cute, but he was super nice and look at those beads! Wickedkit got right up in his bubble, actually almost underneath his belly entranced by the the pretty color of the beads. She swatted at them playfully.
Most cats might have been bothered by the close contact, but he had his own daughter who had been really similar at that age "Oh you like the beads? Well maybe we could go and make you a toy? That way you have something to do in the nursery when your siblings and mother are asleep" he had gotten pretty handy at making them, especially when his mate had gotten overwhelmed and begged him to do something with the kits.

Although it wasn't wrestling or playing in the mud the idea of making something as pretty as this sounded amazing. Wickedkit squealed, "Ooooo yes yes! I wanna make a toy. Please show me how to make a toy? Please please pretty PLEEEAAAAASE?!" Her eyes shined with new found excitement and enthusiasm. Oh heck yes new toys were always the best!

"Well the first thing we need is a sturdy stick, but that means we will have to leave camp to go and get it. Sound ok with you?" he asked with a wink. Most kits were ecstatic for the chance to leave camp, but he didn't want to push her to far. It was going to be a long walk for short legs, but at least when it was over her mother would be thankful. A tired kit, was a calm kit.

Leave camp? She blinked for a moment, wasn't she not allowed to go out? But then again he was an adult and could totally make those decisions. "YES YES YES I AM SO READY TO GO OUT THERE. I WILL FIND THE BESTEST STICK THERE IS OUT THERE EVER!" At this point the young kit was running circles around Burntpheonix thinking he was the coolest cat she has ever known. Making pretty things and leave camp? This was a dream come true!

Burntpheonix chuckled, rising to his paws and letting his tail touch her shoulder "But there is one rule that I need for you to follow if you want me to take you out of camp. You need you to listen to me when we are out there. The area around camp is pretty safe, but there are still some dangers for someone as young as you. So if I tell you to do something, it is because I am trying to keep you safe. Ok? As long as you can do that, we should have a lot of fun exploring and finding what we need to make your new toy"

"Oh okay, I can follow what you say or tell me to do. But let gooooooooo! I am so ready and will be a good girl." Wickedkit bounced around with that famous energy kittens were known for. Her excitement was very obvious and looked about ready to bolt out of camp as soon as he gave the word for it.

"Ok ok, lets go!" he chirped, leading the way through the maze that protected SunClan's camp from intruders. Burntpheonix let the little kit bounce around his paws, and stop and investigate whatever caught her attention. The walked along the river bank, as he hummed a little tune. ashestoashes

The young kit was having a blast seeing everything. There were so many things she would never have even imagined on her own outside the camp. Everything was vastly huge...beautiful. She wanted to see it all, do everything but restrained herself from running away since she made her promise to Burntpheonix. However he was nice enough to check out a lot of the things she wanted to see. Although Wickedkit didn't know what song he was humming necessarily she thought it sounded cool. The small kit attempted to copy his hum but it sounded off beat and higher pitched.

"First things first, we need a sturdy stick to attach the beads to. It shouldn't break under your weight, but it should have some bend" he led her over to one of the bushes where they could easily look for sticks in the bush and on the ground. That way she could feel like she was contributing, after all that was the point of coming out here in the first place "Go ahead and test out a few of them, and find one that you like"

The rambunctious little kit pulled sticks here and there bouncing on a few and chewing on few others until she found the perfect stick that would work for their project. "Oooo how does this look Burntphoenix? It's perfect right?" She was once again close to his personal bubble but looking up with excitement and desperate for approval in her eyes.

Burntpheonix lowered his head and inspected the stick carefully. Testing it himself, to see if it would hold up. He probably could have found a better one, but this was all for the kit at his side. What mattered most was that she was having fun and felt like she was contributing "Yes! Perfect! It is just what I was looking for!!" He took one of the long reeds along the river and tied it to the end of the stick "Now we need something to put on the reed. Have you ever made clay beads before?"

The small kit shook her head, "No I have not but it always looked super oober fun! Are you going to teach me how to do that too? Wowie this is such a fun and perfect and amazing day!" Wickedkit was essentially dancing with glee.

"Might as well, its a skill that might come in handy for you one day" he tapped her nose playfully before darting down to the edge of the river "The first step is collecting clay from the river. Just bend down and scoop up some with your paw onto the bank. You don't want to go in the water though, because it will stir up the clay we are trying to collect" he scooped out a little pile for himself as he waited patiently for the kit to copy him. The river was shallow enough here that even if she did manage to tumble in she would be able to reach the bottom.

Wickedkit loved this idea: getting a chance to be dirty, play in the clay, and learn something from all of this? There was no absolute downside to this. She went down the edge of the river trying to be mindful of not losing clay like Burntpheonix said. She took her time (enjoying every sticky and muddy moment of it) but gathered the clay like her friend had asked. "Is this good enough Burntpheonix?"
'Perfect! Now roll it under your paw until it forms a sphere" he showed the little kit how to roll the clay. It was simple enough, until all the rough edges were gone and it was a little more solid "Then you are going to poke a hole through the center and leave it to dry. You are going to need a lot of these!"

It was almost as if there was a drastic change to her demeaner. The little kit from a boundless bouncing ball of energy to a quiet methodical being carefully and slowly rolling the mud balls into perfect spheres. Precisely she made the holes through the spheres without complaint or trouble. There was something so soothing in doing such small work like this but it made the little kit feel like she was doing something so helpful and useful. She took quite a bit of pride doing this project.

Burntpheonix waited patiently while the young kit worked on her beads. His tail flicking lazily as he took in the sun's rays "Well done, you are very good with your paws Wickedkit" the beads were taking shape, but now was time for the next lesson. Patience. The beads would need time to dry out in the sun without being disturbed. He waited until she was finished, before nodding "Now we leave them be. Its important to not touch them until they are completely dry. In the mean time, perhaps we can go for a swim?"

Burntphoenix was very smart to come up with a plan to have the kit play in the water while waiting on the beads to dry. After all patients was not one of her strong suits (or most kits for that matter.) She hopped to her paws which were muddy and could use a good cleaning. "Sure! I want to run into the water. That sounds really good right now!" And with that Wickedkit rushed towards the water before the tom could say anything more.
