Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
"That sounds like a lot to do," Carnagepanic mewed dubiously. Most nights he was so tired he just flopped down in his nest and went to sleep right away. He didn't want to take extra time to put oil in his fur; he didn't really care how soft it was, and he changed his bedding enough he didn't think some extra shedding was that bad.
"Don't put in too much paint, okay?" The calico tom rarely wore very much of it; his multicolored fur made it difficult to find a color that showed up on every patch of color, so he usually just kept to the necessary simple designs on his lighter patches.

"Not really, just a few extra minutes and it makes a big difference" Southpaw winked before dipping her claws into the paint "Fine, fine. I won't go overboard since you want to keep it simple, but I could make you look sooooo cool if you would let me" she gently outlines his eyes and gave him some swirls down his body. Just enough to get your attention, but the thin lines would also be super easy to wash off at a later time "and I think you are ready to go meet your princess!"
"I'm sure you could," Carnagepanic replied, pleased that she left the markings simplistic. He stood up and circled a few times, craning his neck to look over his coat admiringly. He did look pretty nice, didn't he? The treatment made him feel confident, he stood up a little straighter, and he could almost imagine he was someone else. This handsome tom had nothing to fear, he had a great date to go on, and he looked almost three-quarters as good as Valleyrose did every day.
"Thank you, Southpaw," he murmured, turning back and dipping his head to her. "For all of this. Is there anything I can do to thank you?"

"No, no.... well I guess there is one thing" she replied, looking up at him with a mischievous grin "You see I have a lot of friends, but what I really need is a best friend... Will you be my best friend?"
She wanted HIM to be her best friend? Carnagepanic stared at her, startled. Carnagepanic liked himself well enough, but he would readily admit that he wasn't very special. He tried to be kind, he tried to be polite, but he wasn't spectacular at either. He didn't understand why Valleyrose put up with him, but he knew not to doubt her; now he tried to convince himself not to doubt Southpaw either.
"Well... that's very nice of you to ask," he mewed shyly. "I would like to be your best friend. But are you sure you don't want one of your other friends to be your best friend?"

"Of course I am sure. I am the one who asked you, right?" Southpaw beamed, Carnagepanic was a nice guy he just needed a bit of a confidence boost. Just like in the stories, if you believed in yourself strongly enough anything was possible. If she could get him to believe in himself even a little bit, then his date with Valleyrose was going to go over swimmingly "I wouldn't have asked you if it wasn't what I wanted"
"I just don't want your other friends to be upset," he replied with a nervous laugh. He was thrilled and shocked, and he couldn't wait to tell Valleyrose. Carnagepanic wasn't sure how it happened, but ever since they nearly died at the ceremony springs rescuing her mother, Carnagepanic wanted to run to Valleyrose and tell her everything; he just wanted an excuse to be around her.
"But... I-- thank you. Thank you, Southpaw, I'm very happy to have you as a best friend. If you'll be mine, that is."
"Right," Carnagepanic breathed, new anxiety fluttering in his chest. He looked down at his coat again. He was ready, he had to be. This was the best he had ever looked and probably the best he ever would. "Okay. Okay, let's do this, Southpaw!"
He laughed a little, unsure if he should be amused by the idea of her stalking their date, or grateful for her support. "Okay, Southpaw," he mewed, his whiskers twitching.
Valleyrose hadn't seen her dapper suitor and at the present had her back to him, busying herself with some simple house-keeping. Bloodystar had utilized her element heavily during his time as High Priest and one of his many demands was beautifying camp. While Littlestar never asked her to do it, she continued to tend to the various flowers and shrubbery that she'd planted all those moons ago, pruning the dead heads and using them to sprout new ones.
Carnagepanic paused as he entered the camp and easily spotted Valleyrose tending to the flowers. He smiled, a familiar flicker of nerves in his belly, but this time they were easy to quell. The gorgeous eyeliner and swirls lent him confidence, and he took a deep breath, then headed her way.
"Valleyrose," he purred, mismatched eyes twinkling. "I brought this for you." He slipped the flower necklace that Southpaw had given him off his neck and offered it to his mate. "Um, I was just thinking, if you aren't too busy, we could go for a date tonight?"
Valleyrose, upon hearing her name, turned around casually with the wilted rose in her jaws. The moment her sunstone eyes settled on her done-up mate, the let out a startled squeak - he looked so handsome! - and the rose blossomed right then and there...
... but its thorns promptly dug into her jaw and filled the air with the coppery scent of blood.
Her look of happy surprise shifted to that of pain as she dropped the bloody rose, which promptly rooted itself to the spot and continued growing at a rapid pace and twisted itself around her front forepaw, literally rooting her to the spot. She had a sort of panicked, fearful express on her face, "Get back! I... I'll stop it somehow!"
But she didn't know how to stop it, it was covered in her blood which meant it could keep growing until the blood was gone, and who knew how long that would take?! Valleyrose didn't have a lot of time to think it through as she dug her claws into the root and murmured, "Stop, stop, stop..." and, although the plant did seem to slow slightly, it was still wrapping around her and pricking her skin with its thorns.
Carnagepanic's eyes stretched wide in horror as the plant turned on its master. He dropped the crown and leaped back with a yelp; the dry patches of his fur stood on end. The rose was growing over her paws and holding her to the ground, and as his terrified eyes met hers, he could only think of the unstoppable rose. It would encircle her entirely and cut her to pieces, envelop her with its petal and then he'd never see her again, she was his mate and there was nothing he could do.
He staggered a step back, tears filling his eyes, but it was slowing, and she was stuck. "Stop it, stop it," he whispered, but she couldn't, or wouldn't. He had to..... he had to...
Carnagepanic snarled and lunged forward. Brief courage filled him and he dug his teeth into the stem, gnawing and yanking with all his might to pull it away from her paws. The thorns cut his mouth but he ignored them, straining with all of his weight to free his mate.
"I said get away, Carnagepanic! I'll be fine!" Valleyrose snarled, she'd never sound so urgent or aggressive before, it was sure to startle her mate. The rose continued to grow and wrap its thorns around the young she-cat, but its progress was continuing to slow down, no doubt thanks largely in part to her mate's grip on the root, "I promise---!"
Even before she finished speaking she let out a groan of pain - the pressure on her paw was getting tighter and tighter, like a snake coiled around her limb. It was almost nauseating and made it hard for her to keep scratching at it, but her energy was waining, it was obvious.
(Cleav you can break the stem in your next post if Sen doesn't reply and do a Sun God-like thing first, going with the flow)
Southpaw had been peering out from behind a stone to give carnagepanic hints for his date, but upon seeing the growing rose she scrambled off to find Bravewolf, Littlestar, someone that might be able to help out the panicked couple
The root continued to coil tightly around Valleyrose's front paw, tighter and tighter until she felt her bone snap, causing her to let out an ear-splitting caterwaul of pain. Tears well at the corner of her eyes and spilled down onto the rose, which only made its growth speed up when it had otherwise been slowing down. The pressure was excruciating and her vision was beginning to blur. She noticed this right around the time she also realized her paws - all four of them - had gone numb from hyperventilating. Seconds later, she fully passed out, halting the growth of the deadly rose... although it did not slack in its grip on her in the slightest.
Good job Carnagepanic & Bravewolf. If you hadn't taken so long to reply, she wouldn't have broken her leg.
