Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
He didn't know what to say anymore. He had always doubted Nocturnepaw's loyalty to MoonClan and Selene. He could only trust a cat so much when they spent half their time in another Clan, their natural enemy at that. Recently Ravenpaw had hardly seen the tom at the Academy. Whenever the other tom was around, he never was punished. He just kept going back a forth. Bloodystar had left long ago too, so he literally had no reason to stay! All of this under Marvelstar's nose, Nocturnepaw's mother's nose. He couldn't stand by and watch any longer. He cared about the future of his clan even if the bengal couldn't give a damn.
The anger had boiled under his skin for weeks, and now Marvelstar finally made her appearance at the Academy. Like a good student, he waited for his training to finish for the night. Like a good student, he pushed through his troubles and didn't let them affect him. Once the other students had left the room he approached Marvelstar with his head held high. "You need to do something about your son. He's never here anymore and spends all his time in SunClan." He growled. "You need to tell him that he needs to make a choice. I'm not going to live here with a SunClan rat like him."
Marvelstar was tired, though she usually did a good job of hiding it. As an leader would do she tried to put the needs of her clan above her own. Though lately that had been harder and harder. With only recently having found Vantapaw dead within MoonClan territory, the loss of her kit was weighing on her and she was sure it was taking it's toll on Hauntedpaw and Nocturnepaw too. Now as Ravenpaw approached her visibly agitated she was almost too caught off guard by the confrontation to reply properly.
"Maybe you should remember who you're talking to." she retorted, a growl forming in her throat. Ravenpaw had always been a spitfire and his loyalty to his clan couldn't be questioned but it was clear he held little to no respect for her and it rubbed her the wrong way whenever Ravenpaw was concerned. "Give him time, he's still grieving the loss of his little-mate" she added, more gently this time.
As if on cue Nocturnepaw had exited the den where the student's slept when he heard the sound of raised voices coming from outside. He wasn't surprised in the least when he saw Ravenpaw harassing his mother, but it did make him angry. Bounding forward in a swift motion the dark-spotted tom pushed his way between the other tom and the consul.
"What do you think you're doing!?" he demanded shoving Ravenpaw to allow more space between the two of them "If you have a problem with me, that's fine, just leave my mother out of it!"
He didn't flatten his ears or anything in the face of Marvelstar's harsh reply. It just added fuel to the fire already burning inside of him. She was using her power and authority to cover for Nocturnepaw. It was as corrupt as corruption could be. She was letting her son associate with the enemy. There was no excuse for that. "I know who I'm talking to! And his grieving does not have anything to do with---" Another growled escaped from his lips as Nocturnepaw pushed himself between them.
The traitor himself actually showed up for a day of training in his real home. How convenient. "I'm telling her what she needs to hear! You spend all your time in SunClan. I never see you here anymore." He took in a long inhale and spat. "You even smell more like them than us! How can anyone in their right mind call you a MoonClan cat. You're as SunClan as they get, and your mother here refuses to see it." He turned to face her. "It's your job as leader to weed out traitors..." He pointed at Nocturnepaw. "BANISH HIM FOR SELENE'S SAKE!"
"It's been hard to come back, a hill exploded and scorched SunClan's lands and made the water boil." Nocturnepaw was calmer now that he was acting as a buffer between Ravenpaw and Marvelstar, though his amber eyes were blazing with anger. He was tired of playing this same song and dance with Ravenpaw, it was starting to become clear to him that no matter what he actually did it was unlikely the other tom would ever trust him or his family. "It doesn't matter if I'm here or there you just hate my family, if you had your way you'd probably see all of us banished."
Marvelstar slowly shook her head, her blue gaze flicking to and fro between the bickering students, before finally resting her gaze on her kit. He'd been the runt of the litter, and for the first few days of his life Marvelstar had feared he would join her daughters from that litter that litter who never even got the chance to take their first breath. Seeing him standing before her, strong and nearly a warrior in his own right she couldn't help but feel proud, no matter which clan he chose in the end.
Ravenpaw's words rang in her ears. "BANISH HIM FOR SELENE'S SAKE!" Slowly she shook her head turning her gaze to rest on Ravenpaw. Even in this moment she knew he was right, but that didn't change anything.
Brokenpaw had been headed back to the academy, a plump mouse in her jaws, when the words reached her ears. For a moment excitement filled the young she-cat as she immediately recognized Ravepaw's voice. For just a moment she had hope that the senior student would be willing to train with her before sunrise, maybe even share this mouse with her. Though the thought only lasted a short instance and was replaced with worry as she registered just how angry he sounded. Mouse for gotten Brokenpaw crouched down, inching herself under the foliage that acted as a barrier between her and the other three, until she was sure she could clearly see them but they wouldn't notice her.
That's odd she thought tilting her head slightly at the confrontation before her, though she didn't dare try to get involved.
The fire in his eyes reached a searing heat. This was beyond the corruption that he could have imagined. He first turned his gaze to Nocturnepaw. Before this, he had always had some sort of playfulness in his voice or in his eyes, but that had all burned away. Nocturnepaw no longer deserved such grace. He was already the enemy. "I don't hate your family! I've had a fine relationship with Hauntedpaw, and I didn't hate Vantapaw. I just hate you because you betrayed your clan! You are the problem, not me."
He looked back to Marvelstar, and the fire in his eyes was doused just a little bit. "I know you're better than this. You made MoonClan into what we are. You know what Selene wants from you. You know that committing treason necessitates banishment at the very least." He paused. "You know this has to be Selene's will. She has too have seen your son conversing with them. He has no place here anymore." The Maine Coon knew these words would probably fall on deaf ears, but he had to try one more time. "You know that he's a SunClan rat, or worse, a spy."
Nocturnepaw snarled, his tail lashing furiously when Ravenpaw turned to address his mother once more, filling her head with lies. he didn't know what was worse, that Ravenpaw could possibly still think he was selling out MoonClan to SunClan, after all this time? Did he honestly think he would start now?
"So prove it" the bengal challenged. "You say I'm a spy, but what proof do you have? Yes I've traveled back and forth between the two clans but, what I have done to harm MoonClan? If any clan has suffered from the wrath of their chosen god it's SunClan. Unless Selene herself has told you something she hasn't shared with her own Consul."
Marvelstar was hardly listening at this point point, her mind was too clouded. How could she think those things about her own kit? Let alone speak them out loud, even if they did have some reason to them. No this couldn't be right. Nocturnepaw just needed more time. Time to prove to Ravenpaw that he was still loyal to them even if it didn't appear that way. but, even in the moment she couldn't say the words.
"I don't have to prove it! You spend every waking minute with them! You are never here anymore! I know, you have that excuse that the water was boiling and a mountain blew up, but you shouldn't care. You at least were a MoonClan cat. If you care about them, then you're SunClan. End of story. Any leader with a brain would agree with me." He didn't care if he hadn't talked to Selene. He knew her code as well as any real Shadowhunter, and it called for traitors to be banished.
He turned back to look at Marvelstar. "At the very, very least he must be stripped of his Shadowhunter status. He betrays us whenever he goes to them. He doesn't deserve to be here like me, Winterpaw, or anyone else." He didn't look down on those in the City of Ash, but Nocturnepaw deserved to go there. He couldn't do nearly as much damage there, and he'd have to reinitiate. "You know you have to do something!"
