There sat the tom patiently waiting for his apprentice to meet him. As usual the nervous tom couldn't sit perfectly still as his tail lightly twitched in its usual nervous ticking. Luminescence was determined to do well by Lavenderpaw by being the best mentor he could be for the she cat. Sure he was a little bit high strung but that didn't mean he was a bad mentor. He would guide his pupil into being better than he was. Luminescence had a few fun things in store so hoped today's first lesson would fair well. Nova

Lavenderpaw, as always, had taken her time waking up. She had nearly forgot that today was her first big day of training with her new mentor. The tuxedo apprentice had rolled straight out of her nest and out of the apprentice’s den, moss still clinging to her pelt. A lopsided smile graced her features as she strode up to Luminescence, as if she hadn’t a care in the world.
“Hey there, mentor.” Lavenderpaw purred as she looked up at him. “Fancy meeting you here” ashestoashes

"Good to see you up and awake," said Luminescence as he went over to help remove the few remaining moss that clung to her pelt. Getting the last bit of bedding off the tom stood up and shook like a dog. "Okay so for today we are going to follow the river up to the lake. I figure we can walk and talk...I can answer some questions possibly show you some of the wildlife that live around us. I checked the currents and they don't seem to be too bad so I may even help teach you to swim in the waters for food. Or to possibly help save a kit that fell in. Learning to swim is as important as hutting and fighting. After that...well we will see." The warrior felt confidence slowly go through him as he spoked to Lavenderpaw. He sounded like a mentor which was something he had been worried about. As long as she listened to him and didn't give him too hard of a time he would do well. Maybe.

“Hey that’s not a bad- thanks.” She purred when he helped take the last bit of moss from her fur. “What was I sayin... oh right, that doesn’t sound like too bad of an idea. Might help learnin how to swim, I got no idea how to do that.” Lavenderpaw said with a chuckle.
“Not exactly a good thing considering we got lots of water surrounding us right? At least that’s what I’ve heard”

"I wouldn't be too embarrassed by it too much. I didn't know how to swim when I first came here but look at me now! I can swim and help teach you how to as well. I think you may come to even enjoy it as a leisurely activity...or not. We will find out once we are out there! Anyway let's head out, we can talk out there while along the rivers edge. If you so choose to want to jump into the waters and learn we can stop and do that." The tom felt relieved that his apprentice seemed to be a nice cat which boosted his confidence. He hoped things would work out as him being a mentor to her. Luminescence was determined to do the best he could.

"Sounds like a plan, partner." Lavendarpaw purred as she followed after Luminescence. The tuxedo apprentice was as laid-back as could be. She even walked as though she were simply enjoying life. Though she did seem easily distracted as they continued walking. Often pausing to watch a butterfly, or even swatting at a feather that floated close to her nose. The only indication that she had stopped was the distant chuckle that would escape her throat. But she was quick to catch up to her mentor and did try her hardest to concentrate on the task at hand.
"So once we get to the river's edge, I just gotta jump in, right?"
