A cold gaze swept over the land, irritation flashing across it. Her mother was doing the best thing for the league, moving them away from this toxic land, but Catori couldn't help but feel apprehensive about the move. They were going to embark on a dangerous journey away from the one home she had ever known, and she wasn't entirely certain that the league would successfully make it through. Catori was settled in the shadows of the ruins, taking it all in before they would leave the next morning. The light was slowly dying on the horizon.

A shadow of a feline padded up to her sister, her eyes narrowed. This was the look that the charcoal bengal had had on her face since the night she killed both a kitten and an elder, two felines that were completely defenseless. It had been that one incident, the moment that Slyv cracked and the path had been made. This was the fate that a charcoal bengal should have, it seemed. The life of a creature that never was much more than the darkness that lingered on eerily clear nights, the feeling of eyes watching from the folds of reality.
"Apprehension does not look good on you," she meowed in her low, scratchy voice. However, Slyv was not particularly one to talk when it came to what looked good on a cat. She looked on a good day half-deranged, and on a bad day, like a psychopath who had lost touch with what was real and not. The curse of her pelt was strong.

Catori glanced up to focus her eyes on Sylv, giving her sister a mere shrug. "Even with apprehension looking bad on me, I still look better than you," she teased lightly, rolling back her shoulders. She had never been particularly close with any of her siblings, but she never had anything against them, either. After all, blood before all, right?
"How do you feel about it?"

Sylv, too, had never had much connection to anyone. She had once been close to Vera, but after the MoonClan devastation, she drifted from all. She had become a solitary figure, but that was perhaps what fate had always intended for her. Was she meant to be a part of a greater solar system, or was she just meant to be a lone star? Still, her ear flicked and it wasn't anger that entered her eyes when her sister teased her. "I suppose so," she agreed; it was pointless not to.
Her gaze shifted. "I am unsure it matters in the end," she meowed with a shrug. "Here or there, what's the difference? We lose members on the drive?" She shrugged. "We need a change. Things have been stagnant lately." She was itching for something different.

"Yeah, change could be good, I suppose," Catori agreed, her eyes drifting away from Sylv for a moment. "I wonder who will die on the way. Want to take bets?"

Something dark flashed in her eyes. "Bets?" she asked, her face twisting into what could be considered a twisted grin. "I would love to. Are there any cats off limits? Do promise you won't get offended if I say the cat we probably are all thinking won't make it."
Post by xx.sapphire on Dec 29, 2018 15:21:32 GMT -5
"If you mean our dearest brother," Catori chuckled, "then I won't be offended. Facts are facts. No one is off limits. My first bet? Our nephew Batair. Our mother will probably push him off a cliff at the first opportunity."

"You really think so?" she meowed in amusement, trying not to laugh at the idea. "What has he done to her, ask her for a cuddle?" The idea of that did make Sylv snort, before she shook her head. "My first bet is a tie between Devante or Daedric. One of them won't survive, but between the two of them, there are enough working legs for one cat so maybe Xithymia would do a leg transplant."

At that, Catori laughed aloud. "Two halves of a whole gimp," she agreed, amusement lacing her voice. "Honestly, you know who might be a real coin toss? Corvus," she offered, pondering.

Sylv hadn't laughed in a while, perhaps since before everything had changed. This was the most normal that she had been in a while. "Corvus? And why's that? Because she isn't part of mommy's dearests?" Interest piqued in her eyes, before another thought passed through her head. "Do you think Innocentia will chow down on the journey on every cat that drops?"
Post by xx.sapphire on Dec 29, 2018 16:14:48 GMT -5
"Oh my god, probably," Catori responded, her eyes widening with equal parts amusement and disgust. "She and Senescence have gotten pretty close lately. Do you think Innocentia lusts for the taste of her flesh?" she mused, a tone of comedy seeping into her voice.

She shook her head. There were some things that she would never understand, and the idea of eating another cat was one of them. However, Catori had left her response wide open for a joke. "Lust for the taste of Senescence's flesh? That sounds a little kinky, don't you think?"
Post by xx.sapphire on Dec 29, 2018 16:43:35 GMT -5
"You call it kinky, I call it cannibalism, they probably call it love," Catori responded with another chuckle, shaking her head. Oddly enough, she was thoroughly enjoying her little sister's presence, despite not having spoken more than five words to her in their lives. She recalled a particular game of mossball with her littermates when she had been a trainee, and Sylv and her littermates had wanted to play, and Catori and her siblings had told the younger litter to go away. Since then, they hadn't really interacted.
"Thoughts on Cyra even making the trip with us?" she inquired about their older sister, tipping her head.

"You know, it's probably all the same thing," she meowed, although in her head she was considering the same thing that Catori was. It was strange. She had never been close to her siblings. In fact, she had been the one to drive the oldest of them away like the snake that she was. She had never been clsoe to anyone, really, other than their mother. Yet, here she was, socializing.Enjoying herself. Was this allowed?
"I doubt it. I wouldn't blame her, really. If I was that much of a degenerate as she proved to be, I'd take the chance to just leave while I had the chance. How about Shiva? Do we think she'll stay here whilst we galavant through the world?"
Post by xx.sapphire on Dec 29, 2018 17:39:12 GMT -5
"True," Catori conceded, shaking her head at the thought of the demoted warden. Runts were killed for a reason, Cyra proved that, but Sylv might be the exception. It was too soon to judge. "Shiva will probably want to, no doubt. I heard she hates it over in Brookclan, but she'll need to stay there while we're gone. Maybe she'll try and follow us and end up killing herself along the way." It was a harsh statement, so coldly spoken of her sister, but it drew a smile from the Bengal's maw anyway.

Runts were killed for a reason. That was an odd sentiment, but Sylv liked to be the exception to the rule. SHe hadn't been for the beginning of her life. She had been timid and awkward. It took until her first taste of what the beast inside craved for her to truly become who she was. She flicked her tail, casually listening to her sister talk about Shiva. "Now that would be good," she mused. "Just imagine, if BrookClan let's her do that, we could probably fight them again. We haven't had a good fight in a while," she continued.
"How about our newest siblings? Do you think they all will make it?"

"I honestly don't know what our mother was thinking, getting pregnant like that before the winter. Especially so soon after she lost a life to the plague. Those kits were probably born with brain damage, and I'm certain they won't survive the journey. They're barely old enough to walk; if they don't fall off a cliff first, they'll get left behind. How is our great Vera E'tani going to be the fierce Nemesis at the head of the league and a caring mother making sure her kits are fine trailing behind?" Her voice dripped with sarcasm as she spoke; clearly, Catori wasn't thrilled at a fourth litter.
