Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Septariadragon wasn't exactly known for being soft and sweet, preferring to let that archetype rest on Zengarden's shoulders so she could live how she wanted without being boxed in by societal expectation, but she was also a devoted member of SpringClan who loved each and every one of her clanmates, even the prickly ones, like a family member. Even though soft and sweet didn't come naturally to her, she knew how to play the part of a mother, a sister, an aunt, or a friend.
Considering she'd been cooped up in the nursery – partially due to Zengarden's overprotective tendency due to her pregnancy and partially because, well, pregnancy – she'd had a lot of time to people watch. Including watching the slow deterioration of Lightstep's health. Zengarden had chided her when she tried to intervene, though, stating that any stress could be bad for the upcoming litter.
Now that the litter was born, though, Septariadragon took it into her own paws to at least be there for her fellow clanmates and support them any way she could. The black she-cat glanced down at her sleeping litter, grateful they were at peace for what felt like the first time since they were brought into this world, and took advantage of their temporary comatose states to wander over to Cardinalsong.
Clearing her throat, she offered him an apologetic smile in case he was startled, "how are you holding up?"
Septariadragon slowly nodded. Word had spread about the she-cat, about the whole family really, despite how SpringClan tried to keep their bashing to a minimum. The she-cat tilted her head, a small frown growing. "Yes... Has something happened? Is she alright?"
Cardinalsong sighed looking away, tail wrapping around his paws. "No... losing my father, and then Dovewish all those moons ago, it did a real number on her mental health." Cardinalsong said softly.
Lightstep had fallen in love with Cardinalheart, the deputy of Peachstar, it was so long ago it felt like ancient history to Cardinalsong now. Or a fairy tale, something described with rosy soft phrases used to describe something past, like something out of a dream.
Especially since Lightstep had grown embittered with his father by the time Cardinalsong and his siblings had been born. Lightstep angry that rather than step up Cardinalheart had stood aside to let Eternalera take the mantle of leadership.
And thus led to SpringClan nearly falling to ruin again under another tyrant they hadn't seen since the likes of Tarantulastar, a leader from when Lightstep had been a young warrior.
After that Lightstep just... never let go of her anger with his father. Her bitterness ran deep.
And then Cardinalstar stepped up and they tried to act nice for their kits, but the kits had already seen the truth.
And worse it led to heart ache.
After his father left moons ago, Dovewish fell in love with Thistlestar... and had her heart broken when he fell in love with another. Prompting Dovewish to flee into the night.
And with Dovewish's disappearance on top of Cardinalheart/star's, Shiningpaw's... it broke Lightstep.
She'd never been the same since and it had only gotten worse and worse with time.
Cardinalsong bowed his head. "I just... I don't know what to do." He whispered. "She's my mother, we're all we each have left now with Dovewish now going off on her own again."
He was glad for his sister, but he wished she'd stayed to help him figure out Lightstep.
Septariadragon nodded solemnly, eyes clouded. The family had been through quite a bit in the past moons; her heart ached for them, yet even so, she couldn't seem to find the right thing to say to comfort the tom or set him at ease. "You're here for her. It may not seem like much, but it's of amazing significance, Cardinalsong." She looked at him with a soft gaze and a sad set to her mouth. "And the rest of the clan is here for her too, even if she may not believe it."
Cardinalsong sighed. "I'm the only one left to be here for her... and the sad thing is I don't even know if she was really ever there for me." He muttered. His ears drooped. "But she's my mother." He whispered.
He sat down heavily. "And it's a nice thought... but if the clan really cared they would've done something by now." He muttered crossly.
The queen's heart ached for the tom and she tilted her head in gentle questioning. "What would you see done?" In her eyes, she felt helpless. There wasn't much that could be done for Lightstep, other than keep her comfortable and remind her she was loved in the actions they took to care for her and in remaining at her side.
