"Hey," Cardinalsong came up to Blackberry having spotted the Trusted in camp, and the ginger tom thought with his intimidating visage he might be able to help him with his task. "You free? I could use another tough looking cat to accompany me," He said.
After he'd saved Finchwatcher from her suicide attempt and watched her struggling to recover, it made him worried about the league one day coming back and causing trouble.
He wanted someone to accompany him to poke around near their territory make sure they and no one with them was casting their eyes towards SpringClan.
It was a little bit of paranoia, but Cardinalsong didn't want them to get blindsided again.

The large tom had been pulling some old bedding from his nest when a voice had crept up behind him, causing him to turn rather quickly to face who had asking for him. "Huh- Oh, Cardinalsong," he breathed, chuckling as he staved off any nerves of surprise that had taken him. He smiled at the offer, something lopsided with a twinge of curiosity, "A tough lookin' cat?" he repeated, "Weeell shore," he drawled, "What exactly are you plannin'?" he asked, although the answer wouldn't really matter. Blackberry was a cat of his word.
"Tell you the truth, I can't quite shake the fear of the league coming sniffing around looking for trouble." Cardinalsong meowed. "Might've been moons ago, but you never know and I'm feeling it's better to be safe than sorry. Think you're up for some recon?"
