Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. Aspenstar's trust was a requirement for any to become members of her Loyal Guard, but in order to function as a unit and provide the best service, they would also need their captain's---and Phantomfox was much, much harder to impress. He'd been the one to take Flamingstar out of leadership and subsequently chose Aspenstar to be the cat to pioneer a new, more promising future in NightClan. To say he was a only little invested in her safety was an understatement, though no one knew how deep his desire went. His steely gaze roved across each one of his victims in turn, Wolfriot to Mantisopera to Dawnbringer, where it hovered for an extra moment, reading the fury the other tom couldn't mask and offering a smirk in return, baiting a reaction. "You are each going to convince me that you should be here and that you deserve to be. Prove to me I'm not wasting my time." By whatever means necessary, his eyes seemed to say.

I need to convince Phantomfox I am of use somehow...but how? She thought deeply for something original. Spontaneous. The long legged she cat got up and walked over to where a few rocks were. Glancing down she grabbed one and bashed it hard against the other until its edge became jagged and sharp. Walking back over Mantisopera sat back down looking the tom in his amber eyes unflinching. She would prove to him she was worth the trust to being a Loyal Guard. "I didn't expect Aspenstar to choose me but she did. She saw something in me that made me worthy of being here. I don't know what she saw exactly in me but I will say this: I do not back down from responsibilities. Our leader has put her faith in me and it's not something I take lightly. I shall do everything in my power to protect her even at the cost of my life." She moved the rock closer to her paws. "Ask me to jump and I'll ask how high. Ask me to attack and I will without hesitation. Ask me to slice myself with this rock and I will." She looked back with the challenge in her eyes. "I will not let you down...I will not let her down."
After having been told that he had a place in the guard, Woflriot had a hard time contain his excitement. He had worked hard as a warrior, and loved his Clan and it's leader as fiercely as the next. When Phantomfox had called all the new recruit together, he had been a bit apprenthives about the meeting, yet the longer he sat there the more tired he became. Apsenstar has already picked me, he thought with a slight roll of his eyes at the commanders little speech. When Mantisopera started babbling about, he gave a small snort, ears flicking. He wasn't about to talk his way into a position. Wolfriot only looked up and held his commanders stare with a slight challenge in his honey gaze. He already knew what he was capable of, what he would and wouldn't do for his leader and Clan.
