Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Aspenstar glanced over the group of cats that were in her den. She very rarely took meetings in her den; it was small and crowded and there were so many better places. However, this meeting needed to happen in the one spot that she could guarantee there would be no one to listen in. Her den was the only place she could think to do it. Especially during the day, cats knew better than to come poking around in her den.
"I apologize for making you all meet me so early," she meowed with a flick of her tail, her gaze passing briefly to the sunlight that streamed through her den. It was, at latest, late afternoon. The sun hadn't started its descent yet, and it was a perfectly unpleasant time for NightClan cats to meet each other. "Today, we are going to discuss a strategy moving forward with our relationship with SunClan. The mission Phantomfox and I took to the group seems to have been a success, and from what I gather, Littlestar is interested in strengthening the relationship between the two groups that were lost in time." Her ear flicked, watching the others' expressions change. This was a complete 180 of how she had once viewed SunClan, with fear and disgust. The tone in her voice, though, suggested she might be willing to give the clan a chance? Of course, the NightClan leader would explain why to anyone who asked- after all, it was simply a strategic move to make your number one threat an ally, right?
She blinked a few times, clearing her head. "We have also been invited to a party with SunClan on the solstice. I have accepted the offer, and we will need to strategize the best way to ensure that NightClan and SunClan's interaction at the festival be seamless. If we botch the first interaction, any hope that all will continue to be quiet on the Western front will be completely thrown to the wind. As such, this first interaction is critical in shaping the future of the relationship."
She didn't often speak to the others with this tone. Normally, their interactions were laced with jest and friendship. This Aspenstar, though, was different. This was the Aspenstar behind the scenes, the one who was focused on the end goal of NightClan restoration and thriving. This was the strategizer, the one who view the world as a giant game. This Aspenstar was unfamiliar to most; it wasn't until situations like this that it was pulled out.
"Although I cannot rescind our acceptance of their invitation, nor can I do anything that could jeopardize the pending relationship, as my staff, I respect and desire your thoughts on the matter."
Larkspur's face stayed neutral as Aspenstar spoke, her gaze flickering to the cats around her. As much as she didn't trust Sunclan, she knew that tensions rising between them would only make things worse. Having an enemy was the last thing they needed on their plate, considering all of the mess that had surrounded their clan as of late.
"It's not a bad idea." She says when she finally speaks, her tail wrapping neatly around her paws. "I think we need to keep the group that comes small. Someone will need to stay here to watch the camp and keep our vulnerable safe." Larkspur's tone didn't show either way if she thought this was a good or bad idea, but it was one of the reasons she'd been chosen as a Loyal Guard in the first place. She was able to negotiate and think through all angles.
