Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
She had tried to make the journey alone, she really had. She had gotten close, too. She'd made her break for it right after she knew that Phantomfox would be far enough away from camp that he wouldn't be able to object to her leaving without him. Unfortunately for her, her clan appeared to be a bunch of snakes, and she hadn't even made it half way to the border before the tom appeared next to her. He wouldn't tell her who told him that his services were needed, but when she found out, she'd probably claw out their eye. Aspenstar didn't need a babysitter, and bringing her hulking, scarred loyal guard member seemed like poor strategy. Still, she knew that as soon as he found her, she wasn't going to be able to convince him to leave. SunClan had a penchant for being dangerous, and he wasn't going to let her go alone. There was a part of her, a secret part, that felt slightly more at ease going into enemy lands with at least one cat alongside - although in hindsight, she should have just asked Larkspur to circumvent Phantomfox's concerns. She wouldn't admit that, though. Instead, she had eventually relented with a grunt and made the large tom her personal pack mule. He'd carried the sack of herbs with only moderate complaining, which was one less thing for her to do.
She looked over at him with a squint. "Remember, best behavior. We don't need you to go in guns ablazin' to a cordial meeting," she meowed, her tail tip twitching wildly. "I can handle my own," she then continued. Although it seemed an innocent enough statement, the flash of her eyes proved that it was an order: under no circumstance was Phantomfox to engage in any physical combat with any member of SunClan.
The warning aside, she let out one last stabilizing breath. She wouldn't admit it, but this meeting had been causing her anxiety to swell ever since she set it the week prior. It needed to happen; she needed to meet all of the ForestClan leaders. Littlestar, however, was the one she was most nervous about. Glowstar and Phantomfox were already... friends? assassin buddies?, she hadn't heard a single fact about Marvelstar, which meant that her only threat was the SunClan leader. Why were ian's cats always so threatened by the SunClan leader?
With one last hesitant glance, the leader padded to the border, ready to patiently await the other leader's coming.
It was cute how she thought, after moons of his service, she could leave NightClan's lands without either himself or another of the guards personally hand-selected by him. For as massive as he was, he coalesced out of seemingly nothing and moved like a wraith, quietly falling into step beside his leader and accepting whatever instructions she deemed important enough to saddle him with, even if he did roll his ashen eyes in an exaggerated manner. "I only attack cats that deserve it, show an intent to harm, aggravate me, and nobodies that no one cares about anyway." Regardless, he was preconditioned to be wary of SunClan cats, having lived in both MoonClan and NightClan most recently which were both diametrically opposed to...practically everything SunClan stood for.
He settled beside her at the border, glowering intently across into their loathsome territory and the scars still charred into their earth.

Wasn't it funny how fate worked?
Not even but a few days prior, she and the Janus of SunClan had been having a discussion about how to handle the mysterious things going on within their territory. One of them had suggested reaching out to the other clans for assistance, but the idea had quickly been shut down. After all the scars from the fire during NightClan, DayClan, Renegade Regime, and Primal Instinct were still fresh in the mind of SunClan.
A message had been sent that NightClan's new leader would like to meet with her along the border, a meeting to establish peace between their two clans. It seemed like an odd request, but one that she couldn't just ignore either. It had crossed her mind that this could be a trap that she would be walking into. Right now the last thing SunClan needed was a war on another front, so the benefits of meeting with Aspenstar outweighed the potential risks involved. The messenger had stated that they would be bringing gifts, so she had prepared a little something for them as well.
It didn't take long to find where the NightClan leader was waiting, the silver High Priestess dropped the bundle at her own feet. To say that Littlestar was in rough shape was a bit of an understatement. Since her return she had slowly been regaining weight, yet the outline of her bones were easily seen through her long coat, the area of her ribs not looking quiet right. A spiraling scar wound it's way around her body, starting from her back hindleg and making it's way upwards ending at her forhead where the moon had been carved into her flesh. Two long slashes extended across her throat, and a much fresher scratch wound fell over her right eye. Most of her scars had healed up, her long pelt growing over it in some places to hide it from view, but it wasn't enough to hide it completely. Most cats would have been ashamed, yet Littlestar bore them with nothing but pride. Her body paint accenting her wounds, instead of trying to hide them, turning something ugly and unseemly into works of art.
"Aspenstar, i presume" she greeted, announcing her presence to the two cats whom had had been waiting for her arrival. She had went back and forth on bringing Soaringlight along, but as her Promised it was expected of the young she-cat to attend such meetings as well. All Littlestar could do now was hope that she would behave herself, having already told her the importance of this meeting "It was brought to my attention that you had requested an audience with me"
While Soaringlight stood pretty and poised as to be expected during meetings between leaders, the sour look on her face betrayed her true distaste of the event. It wasn't that she didn't like NightClan or didn't think meetings like this weren't important. No, she was just annoyed that she had to be here at all. She didn't want to be Promised. She didn't like Littlestar and only barley tolerated living in SunClan. So, to her, this was just a massive waste of time.
The black she-cat looked anywhere but at Aspenstar and Phantomfox as the discussion started and was trying her best to count the number of clouds in the sky and tune everything else out...
Aspenstar moved forward and further away from Phantomfox, who she had apparently elected just to ignore. "And you must be Littlestar," she greeted, her gaze resting on the other she-cat. She didn't know what she had expected the SunClan leader to be. Was this ... was this it? After the reign of terror of Bloodystar, and before that Foxstar, this was Littlestar? She looked about half dead, not that Aspenstar would say that. Phantomfox? Well, she could only hope he'd share her manners. She turned her head towards the tom, motioning him to dip his head in respect. "This is Phantomfox, the Captain of my Loyal Guard. I hear you have a similar position in SunClan?" She tipped her head, trying to find the balance of how much smalltalk to make.
She then glanced at the other cat. She had expected the other SunClan to introduce herself, but when she didn't, Aspenstar only blinked once and returned her gaze to Littlestar. Odd.
"I appreciate your acceptance of my offer to meet today. I've wanted to meet you for a while. I understand that my predecessors have had... various relationships with SunClan," she blinked, still not quite following the relationship between the ForestClans much. "I wanted to discuss our current position so that I can fuly understand where we stand with our neighbors. We've brought something for you as well, which we can discuss later, if that is alright with you?"

"Soaringlight, my promised" the silver she-cat commented when she caught the other leader's gaze landing upon her promised "Please forgive her, she is young and unaccustomed to attending to such meetings" glancing back at her clan-mate before focusing back on NightClan's new leader
"Yes, we can speak about the gifts you have brought at a later time. I'm pleased to have you reach out to meet with me, as I intended to do the same very soon. Next moon, SunClan will be hosting a feast the day before the summer solstice at the gathering grounds for all of the forest clans to attend, and I would like to extend a formal invitation to you and the rest of NightClan to attend. As far as I am concerned, NightClan saw an injustice that they sought to correct. However, there are others within my clan that will not be so quick to forgive. We lost many good cats the day of the fire, and it will take time and understanding for the wounds on both sides to heal. I hope for this to be the first of many steps to improving our relations with NightClan, and the other forest clans. All fighting both physical and verbal will be forbidden" she paused giving Aspensar time to consider her words
Soaringlight didn't mean to sigh as loud as she did, but it just happened involuntarily, same as a yawn or a sneeze. Noticing that her quiet vocalization drew attention, her ears flicked back slightly and she looked away, as if failing to make eye contact would make her seem less guilty somehow. She remained silent as she awaited Aspenstar's answer.
He kept mostly quiet throughout the exchange, bearing little interest in pleasantries and merely inching his chin down a fraction toward Littlestar, about as much respect as she was about to receive from him, but Soaringlight's sigh caused the scarred remnants of his lip to turn up in a smirk. Oh, to be young again. It fell as Littlestar continued, however, and suddenly all his focus was back on SunClan's High Priestess, intercepting her offer before Aspenstar had a chance to. "NightClan does not start fights; we finish them. Should there be fighting of any sort, I assure you it will be your clan that provokes it," he warned. It was no secret that most of the present members of SunClan had lived under Bloodystar; that fact alone made them less trustworthy where Phantomfox was concerned, but combined with the attack NightClan launched on SunClan when Flamingstar was still leader, there were sure to be vendettas and old wounds a plenty.
"Soaringlight," she repeated with a nod to the other cat in greeting. She may have to deal with Pinesimmer most days of her life, but at least her staff looked at least half interested in being staff. "We were all there at one point. When I was younger, my mentor used to drag me to Black Hand meetings, and I remember resenting them." Aspenstar flicked her tail neutrally with a shrug. "They get easier with time," she then meowed directly to the deputy. "They're never fun , per say, but at some point, they stop sucking so damn bad." She let out a chuckle, before letting her focus return to Littlestar.
She was taken back by the next words that came out of her mouth. They were enough to give anyone pause. There was a slight hesitency in her gaze; it seemed very nice, but was the SunClan leader really willing to overlook everything that had happened? Even she herself didn't fully understand the history, but Littlestar seemed to be willing to move forward? She wasn't exactly sure what she had expected out of this interaction, but this wasn't it.
"Of course," she meowed when the other leader addressed the concerns some SunClan members had. "For what it is worth, NightClan now understands that the actions of Flamingstar were unacceptable." There had been a whole coup because of it. After a moment, she blinked. "We will be there, though," she meowed after a moment. She was fully aware that there was a chance this would be a trap; for all she knew, she would be walking NightClan right into the trenches. The risk, though, was something that she could deal with with her Guard.
Speaking of Guard, when he spoke, Aspenstar narrowed her eyes. "Easy," she meowed lowly, her tail touching his shoulder gently. It was almost tender, but her words were still a command. She then turned back to Littlestar. "Excuse him. He was raised in a barn," she meowed with a sideways glance. "NightClan will be on their best behavior. I will ensure that no feline that I know will cause problems," namely her Pinesimmer, she added in her head, "will be there. This is your celebration, and we will not do anything to disrupt it. Right, Phantomfox?"

It seemed like Aspenstar had brought along and equally as difficult cat along to this meeting, but she didn't dwell on the tom's comments for long. She had been accused of far worse, and by those much closer to home "I appreciate that, and I look forward to your attendance. In order to keep the peace amongst the clans, I am allowing one cat to be selected from each of the clans to serve as peace keepers during the proceedings. These peace keepers will be working together to deal with any conflicts that might arise, and to keep things fair. Those that get into verbal arguments will be separated and asked to sit out of the feast until they are able to do so peacefully, those that resort to physical violence will be escorted back to their own territory to away discipline from their respective leaders. I can only speak for SunClan, but any of my warriors that must be escorted away will be dealt with harshly"
Soaringlights smirked at the mention of peacekeepers. She thought any party that needed to have an elaborate set of guards and strict etiquette rules was simply not work having. Relations between the Clans were too tense, the last few gatherings were evidence enough of that. Littlestar was rushing things. She was convinced it was going to fall apart spectacularly.
"This party's going to be a blast," The dark-furred she-cat said with thinly veiled sarcasm, although he voice was on the quiet site, she wasn't being aggressive, more resigned, "Can't wait to see you there..."
Aspenstar raised her brow again at the SunClan deputy. She couldn't quite put a finger on the MO of Soaringlights, although she couldn't help but admit that she certainly was interested in knowing what made a cat like that work, or how a cat with that particularly charming disposition became deputy. She guessed she couldn't really talk, though; she was sure most of the forest was wondering how the hell Pinesimmer became medicine cat. She said nothing in response to her, though, focusing instead on Littlestar again.
"I assure you that I have no tolerance for that, and felines that I believe will harm the peace of the party will not be attending." She then tilted her head slightly, considering the offer that she knew would make her companion tense if he was still listening and not just sizing the two up. "I will discipline any cats who transgress myself when we get home. However, it is your party, and if there is a conflict that arises, I give you full permission to discipline my warriors too." She blinked her mismatched eyes; it was a strange offer. Why would Aspenstar do that? But, the leader did not offer without intention: with her offer, she sought to give Littlestar the affirmation that NightClan really meant no harm during their attendence.

Littlestar had to admit that the NightClan leader's response had caught her off guard. After dealing with Burningstar and Flamingstar, it seemed she was dealing with all together very different kind of leader. "Very well, and if my cats give you any trouble rest assured they will be disciplined as well" she picked up the lead bundle that she had carried to the border opening it to display the content of the present she had brought for the NightClan leader "These are for you"
Her paw moved over to first object, a hollowed out bowl with a leaf tightly bound over it's top "This is clay, a special type of mud that you can use to fashion into different designs. Once you are happy with it, leave it out in the sun to dry and it will harden and hold it's shape. It is something the kits and apprentices in SunClan enjoy crafting with, but it must be kept moist until you are ready for it set. For as different as our clans are, I think we can both agree that kits are our future"
She paused moving onto the next bundle unfolding the leaf carefully "These are herbs that your medicine cat may find useful" inside was some thyme leaves, lavender, and belladonna. Herbs selected specifically because they were helpful and harder to find, but also could not be replanted to be used against them later. There own herb storage had been dangerously low, but with Valleyrose's help it was becoming slowly replenished.
"And lastly " the leaf rattled as it was unwound, the six rattle snake rattles spilling out onto the ground. "These are from the snakes here in SunClan that we have taken to hunting. Their rattles are used to warn off predators. Even foxes, badgers, and dogs will give pause upon hearing them. They are very useful when facing off against a predator that might threaten your clan, and will give you some time to formulate a plan of attack. Some will even flee just from hearing the sound"
