"Children of the Sun, the High Priestess desires your presence below the high stone"
Even though Littlestar had the same words hundreds of times before, this time it felt different. She wasn't the same cat that she had been back then, but then again the clan she saw gathering on the sandy beach below was also not the same clan. The clan that once held themselves with so much pride, was ragged, worn, defeated. She could feel the warmth of The Sun God, Bravepaw, Damek, standing beside her. Some of the clan would not be happy about her return, while others would welcome her with open paws.
She hadn’t come back to SunClan with intentions or staying, much less retaking her title as High Priestess. For once she wanted to be selfish, to turn her back on duty and follow the desires she had pushed away for so long to serve the Sun God. To take her family and get them away from SunClan. To put herself and her family first. But what about those that she left behind? Cats that she had struggled alongside, cats that she had watched grow and blossom. What would happen to SunClan with a God who didn’t have full control of their powers or their memories? With no leader, soothsayer and lacking in Janus? It was a mess that she had created, and without her the clan wouldn’t weather to the storm to come... They needed hope, someone that they could look to. So reluctantly she had agreed to stay, for now.
“SunClan has been shrouded in darkness for too long, the Sun God has returned to light our path. He has lived amongst you, struggled alongside of you, suffered alongside of you” she paused, looking at the cat that stood beside her “Now it is time to take what he has learned from his rebirth and help forge a brighter future for SunClan. Going forth things in SunClan will be changing, though these changes will not happen overnight. I will be working alongside Damek as his High Priestess, and at his request it is my honor to give him his warrior name
“Bravepaw, it is with great reverence that I, High Priestess Littlestar, grant you your new name. From this day forward you shall be known as Damek, Bravewolf, The Sun God” she moved forward to press her nose to his. She paused allowing the crowd to die down before she moved on to the rest of the ceremonies.

Bravepaw, Bravewolf, shifted uncomfortably where he stood, offering Littlestar and the clan a somewhat sheepish smile. In the moment when he'd gotten his powers, it was rather easy to just draw on all those new emotions. This now was... far more uncomfortable, as he was now left to try and scramble to figure out some semblance of normal. Part of him beamed at the fancy praise, the other just wanted to crawl into a small tunnel away from everyone and hide, leaving him in an awkward middle ground where he could neither feel particularly happy, nor could he just leave as he wanted to. So he sort of just booped his nose gently to hers when she leaned towards him to do so, pulling back a moment later, thankful that he would hopefully no longer be the focus of the crowd.

“ It is with great reverence that I, High Priestess Littlestar, stand beside our Great Protector today and bask in his eternal rays. With his permission and guidance, it is now that I grant our youth their new names. May they serve him well and bring blessings onto his people.
Newly named warriors of SunClan, it is with great pleasure that we now welcome you as full members of the clan”
“We have kits that are ready to begin training in the ways of SunClan. In the past SunClan cats have not been allowed to think for themselves, or to make decisions about their future. Today we take the first step towards change. Our apprentices will now get to choose their mentors from amongst the clan warriors, but it is up to each of you to choose wisely. A warrior may have more than one apprentice, but for each additional apprentice they take on the less time they will be able to devote to each of you. However, the choice you make is not permanent, you are young and it is ok to make mistakes. You must stick with your chosen mentor until the next ceremonies, but at that time you will be allowed to select another. Before you earn your warrior name you must pass an assessment administered by myself or one of the Janus. Assessments will be given to apprentices that believe they are ready and request to be tested. Those that pass will be given their warrior name, those that fail will be suggested a mentor that can help them strengthen their weaknesses and train for another moon before allowing them to attempt another assessment. I now give you your new names, go forth and select your new mentor by giving them a sunflower” there was a pile of sunflowers laid out for the kits to choose from

Purepaw couldn't contain himself. The little tom didn't run to his father or his siblings to congratulate them or be congratulated. The tabby ran straight for the sunflowers. He already knew who he wanted as his mentor. Grabbing one of the stems in his mouth, Purepaw ran straight towards Cinderbandit. The gray and white warrior seemed to be the most interesting of everyone! Purepaw thought that they were just the right amount of quirky that they could get along easily. The excitable apprentice skidded to a halt as he neared Cinderbandit, nearly sliding right past him. But he placed the sunflower down at the warrior's paws and looked up at him with hopeful blue and green eyes. "Will you be my mentor? Please, please, please!" pao
Sunflowerpaw stuck close to her sibling's side. She had no idea who to choose. The ginger tabby swallowed thickly as she ducked her head down. She didn't like all this pressure. She was hoping that the high priestess would assign mentors, the way her father had when he was the high priest. The timid she-cat glanced over at the other apprentices. They were all starting to choose their mentors. Maybe she should just choose one too. It was no big deal... right? Swallowing thickly, the tabby headed towards the pile of sunflowers and gently picked one up in her mouth. Sunflowerpaw quickly turned to head towards the warriors, but had managed to bump right into one. The sunflower fell at Crownedstag's paws as Sunflowerpaw fell back on her haunches. "I-I'm sorry! I d-didn't mean to...! I-I'll pay more attention next time..!" She stuttered quickly as she dipped her head towards him. racer
Blissfulstorm had gently head-butted her half-brother as she looked up at him teasingly. "Now you really can't get rid of me." She purred, playfully batting at Scorchedwhisker, who only rolled his eyes at her. He gave her a half-hearted glare before he quickly pulled her against him in a one-armed hug.
"Hey!" Blissfulstorm squealed as she tried to break away from her brother's grasp.
"Sunclan must be really desperate if they promoted your ditzy brain." Scorchedwhisker grumbled. "You did good, squirt. Congrats you've earned it."
"Great, wohoo." Harmoniousdestiny said as he got up, quickly heading towards the warriors den so he could get away from the excitable crowd. "We're warriors, yay." He muttered sarcastically
Soaringlight knew that there were other things she should be paying attention to, but she was fixated on one thing: Her brother's name. A creature known for living in the coldest, most unforgivable landscapes... for howling at and gaining its strength from the moon... for its vicious and unforgiving temperament... basically everything her brother and the Sun God were not... that was what he was going to be named after? Bravewolf?
"Ugh," She grumbled, putting her white-tipped paw on her temple. Soaringlight was't all that impressed by the apprentices choosing their own mentors thing either, it seemed like a terrible idea... No worse an idea than Littlestar returning to leadership, though. The High Priestess 1) looked like a living ghost and 2) was responsible for Bloodycrow. Plus she'd killed Bravewolf before he was her brother, so Soaringlight was allowed some animosity for that too... right?
Am I turning into a grumpy old man or something!?
"I need some fresh air..." She declared as she stood up and began to retreat from the crowd.

Watermelonpaw's bright green eyes shined bright when he was given the option of choosing his own mentor. Kits always gossiped for the moons proceeding their promotions regarding who they wanted as mentor and who they would get, which meant he had just the cat in mind from the very beginning. The red-and-white tom picked up a sunflower and approached Ferventprayer, dropping it down at his feet with a strangely formal bow.
"I choose you as my mentor, Ferventprayer. You look like you need a friend and I do, too," He gave her a sweet smile and licked her across the cheek, just below where Bloodycrow had scratched her just a few days before, "We'll get through this!" racer

Honestpaw's ears flattened when it was announced that he was supposed to pick his own mentor. Like any other kit he'd had a bunch of options, but he didn't have his heart set on any one of them, happy to accept whoever was assigned to him without any complaint. He fretted over his choice as he walked over to the sunflowers and, when he picked one up, he closed his eyes.
Sun God, guide me. He prayed - which was weird cuz the Sun God was present, but anyways - he stumbled forward and took a couple turns into he bumped into a cat and dropped the flower at his feet. It was Snakebounce. Nova
Snakebounce didn't remember why he had walked away from the warrior's den. Had he wanted to go find one of his sisters? Did he want to find his mother? Whatever it was, something compelled him to venture away from his soft mossy nest and into the camp clearing. He flushed hotly under his pelt when he realized that there was a ceremony going on. Of course he had missed it... how long had he been asleep anyway? The seal tabby gave himself a quick shake but froze a bit when another cat bumped into him. Snakebounce looked down at Honestpaw. His yellow eyes lit up with confusion when he asked the tom to be his mentor. Apprentices were choosing that now? Snakebounce looked around and was surprised to see all the new apprentice asking warriors to be their mentor.
Snakebounce sat down and carefully picked the sunflower up. He wasn't sure what to do with it now, but he smiled brightly at Honestpaw before he gently ruffled the fur on top of his head. "How can I say no to that? Sure thing, kid. I'll be your mentor!" It was his first-ever apprentice! His confusion gave way to excitement at the prospect Jadie

Lastingpaw was excited at the news of being able to pick their own mentor, even though it was quite the surprise. He hesitated, trying to think about whom he would like to train under. There were so many choices, and it wasn't something that he had even thought of before now. However, one cat stood out to him, one that he hoped that he could be like in the future. He padded over to the sunflower pile before picking up one of them, and trotted over to his mentor of choice, Teneberousrequium. THe older cat had a bad temper at times, but his devotion to Ferventprayer was plain to see. He was strong, ready to take on anyone whom threatened his mate, and he found that admirable "Would you like to be my mentor?" Jetclaw
Fuzzypaw didn't hesitate, rushing forward and grabbing a sunflower, before dashing over to one of the newly made warriors, Earthquake. Earthquake was his adoptive half-brother, that Lionpride told them all about. How brave he had been, and who he had stuck with his beliefs and spent a lot of time in prison. He sat the sunflower down, puffing out his chest "Will you teach me? Dad has told me a lot about you, and I want to be just like you!" @samiam
Southpaw wiggled around in one place, glancing around the clearing at all the warriors. She had so many choices! The little white kit finally made up her mind, darting forward to grab a sunflower, and making her way over to Deppleheart. The she-cat was very pretty and sweet "Dappleheart, I would like for you to teach me" peachesnpanda
Crownedstag chuckled, picking up the sunflower and passing it back to the young apprentice "Here you go little lady" he replied kindly, not taking an offense to her running into him on accident. This was the first time anyone had seen a ceremony like this and it was only natural that she was a little nervous "You should take your time in choosing your mentor, don't rush into it" Nova
Darksonata sat next to his sister as their new names were announced. It meant little to him, not when he and his family would be leaving soon enough. However, unlike Soaringlight he was proud of their brother for standing up there. He had never imagined that their sibling would turn out to be the Sun God, though some of the odd things that he did were starting to make more sense now. He flashed his brother a smile, before rising to his paws to follow after Soaringlight. JadieHoneystorm
Ferventprayer leaned against Teneberousrequium, only coming to the ceremony's at her mates insistence. Just seeing Littlestar and Bravewolf was enough to stir up the complicated mix of emotions that almost left her in tears. How the clan had just stood by and watched as her father was attacked and exiled from the clan. She had been the only one to speak up in his defense, the only one to try and defend him.... Yet her had hurt her, pushed her away. She was no closer to sorting through the emotions that pulled at her heart. She just knew that it hurt, and a lot. The last thing she had been expecting was to have one of this kits choose her as a mentor. She returned the small lick to Watermelonpaw "That sounds nice..." JadieJetclaw
Tenebrousrequiem's tail rested against his mate's flank trying to soothe her nerves as best he could. He knew though she was filled with complicated emotions, that being isolated from the others would only make it worse.
He purred when Watermelonpaw picked Ferventprayer as their mentor. Blinking as Lastingpaw approached him.
He looked down at the small tom that was looking up at him after placing a sunflower at his paws.
Him, a mentor? He didn't know the first thing about training an apprentice.
But as Ferventprayer accepted Watermelonpaw, perhaps they could train their apprentices together. An activity they could share.
'Plus I guess it'll be good practice in case Ferventprayer wants kits, I'll need to learn how to be a good dad.' He was still far from what he'd call a good cat, so this would help towards that goal as well. He wanted to be better for Ferventprayer because she deserved the best.
So he nodded. "Sure kid, I'll be your mentor." He said. racer

Sunflowerpaw quickly swallowed her nerves, expecting to have been scolded. Her green eyes fell to the ground, waiting for the reprimand. But instead, Crownedstag hadn't been bothered by her carelessness. The new apprentice quickly looked up at him, tilting her head to the side as he gave her the sunflower back. The ginger and white tabby carefully took it from him, glancing down at the flower that she had reminded her mother of. She'd heard of Crownedstag. He was strong and confident. Really confident. She was always being told that she needed to be more confident in herself. Maybe the new Sun God somehow led her to Crownedstag! Oh, he was such a smart god!
"U-Uhm... a-actually..." The shy she-cat said as she played with the stem of her sunflower. "Do you... maybe... would you... uhm... would you be my mentor? P-Please...!" racer
Jadie poor Purepaw is absolutely gonna fail the first round of assessments lol, he's gonna suck as a mentor
Cinderbandit isn't the brightest cat of his age, or the strongest, fastest, or well...anything really. The oddball is know for collecting strange items and trinkets, for pranks when disagreed with and babied, and for just being odd in general. He has his moments where he shows he's not as dumb as he looks, but those are far, far and between when tehy do happen. "Sure!" Nonetheless, the tom was a ray of sunshine as he accepted the flower, and his new trinket, while beaming at the apprentice that had picked him of all cats. Maybe now Wistfulspinx would realize he wasn't a baby and could be a great warrior, even if he is one of the oddest around.

Assertivepaw watched as many of the new apprentices eagerly darted to the sunflower pile and claimed their mentors, and while it physically pained him to hang back for a moment, he felt it was necessary. He really didn't want to get stuck sharing a mentor, especially with the cat he had in mind, but so far so good. He wasn't the only one mentorless though which didn't leave him in the clear just yet, but he couldn't sit still any longer. Walking with a bounce in his step, Assertivepaw made his way to the sunflowers and picked one up by the stem. Then, he set his eyes on the massive tom sitting not too far off. If he did this right, then maybe he could play it off like he just wanted congratulations before anything else. He really didn't want his siblings to catch on until they were all paired off. Clearing his throat, he set the sunflower down in front of the warrior and though he tried to appear nonchalant, he couldn't hide the nervous smile that crossed his face. "Hey, dad. Wanna be my mentor?" he asked Lionpride, and you'd have to be blind to miss the hopeful glimmer in his golden eyes. racer

Dappledheart had been sitting towards the back of the crowd when Southpaw approached her. She hadn't been expecting this change in apprentices choosing their mentors nor did she expect to get chosen. So when Southpaw approached her, the tortiseshell warrior felt her heart speed up. Sure she loved the apprentices and kits, but she had never been a mentor before.
It only took a few seconds before Dappleheart made her decision. "I will do my best to teach you." She purred smiling down at Southpaw.

Lastingpaw purred, happy that his mentor accepted him as his apprentice so easily "Perfect, I know I am in good paws" he looked up as Ferventprayers pulled away from her apprentice to lean on his own mentor. Jetclaw
Crownedstag looked down at the shy young she-cat who quivered before her "Well little lady, it would be an honor" he had a big grin on his face, obviously pleased by her choice, as one paw came up to pat her gently on the head "But I expect my apprentices to put lots of hard work. You will learn a lot under my mentorship, but it won't be easy. Is that what you want?" Crownedstag wasn't known for his ability to tune down his rough and tumble attitude, often pushing himself an all those around him to be better Nova
Lionpride watched as his 12 kits, went off to choose their own mentors. It wasn't something that he had ever imagined for them under Bloodystar's reign, but now with his mother back as High Priestess he felt a little more at ease. Things were back on the right track, and he wasn't constantly looking over his shoulder. However what should have been a joyous occasion was overshadowed by Pollendrone's disappearance. They still hadn't managed to locate her, and it was only for the sake of his children that he had been managing to hold it together. His gaze was drawn downwards when Assertivekit joined him with a sunflower in his jaws, he was about to ask who he would be picking but his question was answered before he could even ask it "If you will have me" he purred, leaning down to touch his nose to his son's Flurryofstars
Silverpaw liked to think there were a lot of great attributes to his personality. ‘Superb social skills’ was not one of them. He had been so excited to be promoted to the next stage of his path! Until he realized he’d not only have to select his own mentor, but announce his choice in front of everyone. His stomach squirmed and he shifted his paws uncomfortably, desperately wishing there was any other option. Couldn’t he tell Littlestar one on one? Or talk to the eligible warriors about it and get their opinion? What if he picked someone who didn’t want him as their apprentice? The longer he sat there agonizing over it, the worse it got, if only because it meant less and less apprentices pairing up, more eyes landing on him, waiting, assessing...
The tom closed his eyes tight, trying to ignore the whooshing of his blood growing louder in his ears, as close to the sound of waves lapping against a shore as he’d ever get.
Inhaling a deep breath, he snapped open his eyes and beelined it for the one warrior he felt would understand him the best and support him the most effectively toward his own warrior ceremony. The newly promoted apprentice stopped in front of his potential new mentor and gazed at the tom with wide, panicked eyes full of a plea.
“Darksonata,” He started, clearing his throat quietly when it came out a croak, “Will- I- Can-“ He breathed. “I choose you to be my mentor.” He flinched back a bit. “If you’ll have me.”

Darksonata had almost made it into the tunnels, when suddenly he was stopped as one of the newly named apprentices came skidding to a stop in front of him. He tried to step around them, only to end in an awkward dance where neither of the could go anywhere his gaze looking out after where Soaringlight had disappeared. He had never liked being away from her, but with recent events even more so. Finally he stopped looking down at the kit, having not even heard what he had been asked. He blinked a few times, gave the apprentice a shrug of his shoulder before stepping into the side and walking into the tunnels. Not stopping nor encouraging them from following. ѕнαdow✩
His heart dropped into his stomach. Was your blood supposed to turn to ice inside your body? Was that normal? Was he dying? All the blood was certainly no longer in his face, he was pretty sure it was all in his feet considering how badly they itched and throbbed, and he-
He turned to look back at the gathering, wondering just how badly he screwed up. Had he gone after one of the warriors that was off limits? Was it because Darksonata was a newly appointed warrior? Silverpaw glanced back toward the tunnel, the darkness of it, the chill that seemed to emanate and only be felt by him.
He took an aborted step back, before following through and taking another step back.

Silverpaw backed up into Rock, who was staring down at his nephew blinking "Silverpaw, you should go after him. Don't take no for an answer"he replied firmly settling down to look the young cat in the eyes "You have nothing to be ashamed of. If you want Darksonata as your mentor, show him" he smiled nudged the young apprentice forward gently. Rock was always supportive of his nephew and nieces encouraging them to go forth and be the best that they could be ѕнαdow✩
The silver bengal tom gazed up at his uncle with a frown and teary stars in his eyes. “I don’t want to upset him, Rock! He didn’t seem very interested in being my mentor, anyway.” He looked down at his paws. He truly regretted his decision now. If only Littlestar hadn’t put the moon long trial in place... He sighed softly and squared his shoulders. He didn’t have any choice now. He’d made his decision and he had to stick to it.
Silverpaw turned, grinding his teeth and hurrying after his new mentor.

Rock watched his nephew dart off into the tunnels. At least he was showing some grit and determination. He was proud of him, even if the mentorship didn't turn out for the best he knew Silverpaw would be learning something from all of this. [Lets start another thread] ѕнαdow✩

Peppermintpaw watched the others choose their mentors with mild curiosity. Eyes fell on him and that new cherub mark on his pelt as he looked at each cat. This was better, but he wasn't attached to anyone. They were all, nicer, he supposed. He hadn't fit in, not after the paint debacle. So he figured someone similar would work, or at least someone that he saw that way. It's what led his bright pawsteps to the darker ones of a warrior. "You down to be my mentor, Discordantmelody?" He sounded indifferent, but his eyes shined with that youthful hope a lot of them had. Jadie
