Ever since Shieldheart became deputy, he took it as a personal mission to work out the kinks of some of his clanmates. Or rather, he wanted to mold FallClan's warriors into the best they could be. His results weren't the greatest, but he was still determined to win out in the end. And the best way to prove that he could be successful was to pick a cat with some of the worst flaws and build them to perfection and while there were a few cats high on his list, only one stood out. "Hey, Cloudymuse!" He called as he made his way across the camp. He wasn't exactly surprised to find him there. "Whatever you had planned for the day, cancel it. You're coming with me." As he spoke, an almost devilish grin spread across his face. He knew the tom was lazy, but he'd also heard about his potential and while he wouldn't believe it till he saw it, he was ambitiously optimistic.
pao This took way longer than it should have for me... I'm sorry!
Poor Cloudymuse had been lounging in the sun's ray, soaking up their warmth and watching the clouds roll by. It was when a bunny shaped one came into focus that the deputy of the clan decide to interrupt his relaxation. With a frown, the sky blue of his eyes peered over towards Shieldheart, not at all liking this plan the cat was talking about. "No." Simple, to the point, and with it, Cloudymuse relaxed back into his spot in the comfortable grass and continued his cloud watching from before.

Shieldheart arched a brow at the flat-out rejection, but he was otherwise unfazed. Growing up with Swordstrike made him almost immune to being blown off, so if Cloudymuse thought that was going to be enough to deter him then he had another thing coming. "Then I'll clear it for you," he said and then without asking again, he cleared the distance between them and nudged his way towards the back of the warrior's neck. His teeth dipped into the nape and then he jerked his head in an attempt to drag Cloudymuse away by force. Now that he'd put his plan into motion though, he hoped this wouldn't be a long-lasting thing because the guy was heavier than he looked.
Cloudymuse didn't ever move. Honesty, he didn't care and wasn't happy about being taken away from his cloud watching. The tom pouted, frowned and overall showed his displeasure, but also didn't attempt to walk himself or get out of the hold. If the other tom wanted him somewhere then he could do all the work himself. Honestly, his one and only plan for the day, to cloud watch, was now being ruined. Was he surprised? No. Was he happy about it? Definitely not, but he also wasn't a fussy cat and wasn't gonna do more than complain and lazy around where ever tehy ended up.
Flurryofstars are we starting this thread as the first time they ever get together, or one of the other times where they've been together a time or two already?

(I went in with one of the first times in mind, but it doesn’t make a huge difference to me either way lol. Whatever you want works!)
Shieldheart struggled to drag the tom further, but it was clear Cloudymuse wasn’t about to budge. They’d already received a few odd looks from some of their clanmates, and while that didn’t embarrass him, the point of this had been to boost his reputation as deputy. Blowing a huff out his nostrils, he released his grip on Cloudymuse and stomped back out in front of him. “You can’t really be this lazy, can you? C’mon, cut me some slack here! Can’t you see I’m trying to help you out? Don’t you want to he seen as a respectable warrior? Cause if you don’t, then what are you doing in FallClan? Everyone’s gotta pull their weight here. No exceptions!” Not even good looks would help excuse the tom’s behavior, at least not in Shieldheart’s mind.
Flurryofstars makes sense was just trying to figure out where we were at for how I should reply to things
Cloudymuse watched as Seablossom gave them a weird look but only shook her head, she knew him and knew his tendencies even if they didn't really interact. Almost everyone knew he'd rather be cloud watching then working. He waved at her with a few motions of his paw as he continued to watch the world go by as he was dragged away. "I could care less what others think." It was the honest truth too, the tom had never cared what other thought and he'd always ignored their words by lounging around and watching the clouds. Sure, he was a pretty good fighter and strategist, but that involved more work than he really wanted to do. "I was born here, and I'm not one to go looking for somewhere else to live. To much work." Clearly, Shieldheart underestimated the warrior he was dragging. If his family would allow him to waste his talents even more than he already was, then he'd have happily signed up to be a nursery aid. But that was the one thing they put their paws down on and forced him to become a warrior by dragging him to practices and training just as Shieldheart was doing now. "Why are you bothering? Thought we weren't supposed to be talking right now, or are you done being mad at me?" Mad that, Cloudymuse didn't care about being together and out in the open about it.

Shieldheart scoffed as he took a step back from the tom. Did he really have to bring that up now of all times? Couldn't they just act like clanmates or whatever? Hadn't he made it clear that whatever they had was clearly a misconception and it wouldn't--couldn't happen again. And absolutely no one needed to know about it. "I was never mad," he insisted but stopped himself from going any further with that. "But if you think finding a new place to live is too much work, then I'd start coming to terms with the idea quick. Once I'm leader, the first thing I'm gonna do is exile anyone that isn't pulling their weight. Save that for when you're an elder." The threat wasn't entirely empty but it had jumped into his mind on the spot. There was no knowing for sure if he'd actually follow through on it, but if he did, he hoped Cloudymuse would have shaped up enough to avoid such a fate.
"Like you'd get rid of me." He wasn't wrong and even if the tom did force Cloudymuse out of FallClan, he wouldn't go far. The brownish-silver tabby rolled his eyes as he walked past Shieldheart, "you like me to much for that, even if you don't wanna admit it. You would though, espeically if you kicked me out. Besides, I'm useful." Fact pointed out, the tom eyed the landscape in search of a new cloud watching spot. Many hated him and groaned at his laziness, but no one could fault him for when he did do work. Cloudymuse was the kind of cat who's mind worked far harder than the tom himself, it had strategies filed away for almost anything, problem was he had no energy to actually put them in motion. Oh, how that frustrated everyone around him to see his intelligence wasted like that. But, it did make him valuable when needed. Well, when you could convince him to be useful. "What are we doing out here anyways? Or did you just drag me out here to talk some more, since you're done being mad and all?"

(As he should be lol)
"You ever heard of the term modest?" Shieldheart asked with a roll of his eyes. He wouldn't deny that he liked the tom, at least as a friend. Cloudymuse was intelligent, strategic, and while he came across as cocky at times, the confidence was appealing. To top it all off, the warrior had a good heart--a kind one. He'd found at first paw and he never would have believed it otherwise. Clearing his thoughts with the shake of his head, he watched the tom cloud gaze for a moment, wondering how he was so calm after just being dragged around like carrion. "I want to spar with you. If you don't practice your combat, you'll be as useless as a kit on the battlefield," Shieldheart explained as he walked in front of Cloudymuse once more. "If you're so useful, then prove it. Show me what you got."
"And your asking if I know modest. Shieldheart, your the deputy and one of the best I know at fighting, why would I want to get my tail kicked willingly?" Cloudymuse had strategy sure, but he honestly hated working, and that included sparing. Sure, he was decent at it, but that didn't mean he wanted to actually do anything. Nonetheless, he rose to his paws, sky blue eyes narrowing on the tom before him. "I don't have to prove anything. You already know who I am." But here, he was standing, ready for sparing and even taking a defensive stance. The silver-brown tom didn't care about reputation or anything like that, but maybe it would be good to take out his frustrations about Shieldheart on Shieldheart. It was only fair.

Shieldheart didn’t want to admit that there may be a deeper reason to wanting to do all of this, so he forced himself to focus on Cloudymuse and nothing else. No more thinking, no more reflecting, just this. “Try to have some faith. I’m not trying to start a fight with you cause I think you’ll lose. I’m doing this because maybe you won’t and maybe you’ll see just how capable you can be when you put your mind to it. You know how important it is to me to look after our clanmates.”
He let his words sink in for a few seconds before Shieldheart shifted his weight to his back legs and pushed off the ground. He flew into the air with his claws outstretched and with a very focused expression, he lunged for Cloudymuse’s throat in a non-fatal maneuver.
Flurryofstars Ok so since turtle left his family is dead. He’s the last remaining one. We can time skip to after Ghostlyflicker and Dovecaper die if you want.
Cloudymuse rolled, eyes tracking his opponent as he did so. The tom ended up on the other side of, the now landed, Shieldheart. For once, the lazy tom’s eyes weren’t half lidded but open to full mast, and narrowed in concentration. A push over, lazy, rump he may be, but in battle a new side of Cloudymuse always shown through. Even now, his mind was working in different maneuvers, possibilities, and outcomes. Fainting to the right, he dove left, aiming for back paws to knock him on his belly.

(I want to let this play out a little bit before we time skip if that's okay. Just a couple of posts and we can! pao)
Shieldheart barely managed to jump up in time to dodge the attack, his heart immediately beginning to race with the excitement of sparring. He could tell that Cloudymuse was finally taking him seriously and already, he knew the tom's fighting skills were no joke. He wasn't deputy for nothing though. Grinning from ear to ear as he landed not a tail's length away, Shieldheart crouched down to take a more defensive position. "Not bad, but I know you can do better than that," he taunted. He had to admit that seeing the concentration on Cloudymuse's face might have helped in activating his adrenaline, but he tried to bury that thought a second later. He didn't want to go down that line of thinking, especially in the middle of a fight.
Cloudymuse rolled his eyes for what felt like the millionth time around Shieldheart. “Why bother? It’s just sparring.” He hated putting in effort, or doing work. Though, that didn’t mean he would slack once Training had started. Just getting him to start was a nightmare and struggling in and off itself that many, many didn’t want to bother with. He stepped back, surveying the area around them. Tactile advantages won many battles, and besides that, Cloudymuse wasn’t below doing dirty tricks to end quicker. Trees lined the way to the left, a hill leading up to them. It was small but maybe he could use that? They’d have to work up that way though, and he’d have to hope that the two plans he was thinking of we’re that easy to spot. Or this would last longer than he wanted it too. With a sigh, he stepped to the right, eyes scanning that way next. But only open plains and flowers graced his eyes. Not much there of use, he thought.

With his muscles bunched in anticipation for the next attack, Shieldheart found himself growing impatient. Offense was his preference in a fight anyway and with every passing second, the itch to pounce only grew stronger. Eventually, that itch was no longer something he could ignore. Suddenly, Shieldheart lunged to one side in a flurry of brown and white before leaping from the ground again. But instead of aiming for Cloudymuse head-on like he did last time, he targeted his extended claws at the warrior's legs, hoping to sweep them out from underneath him. Let's see if you can dodge this!
Cloudymuse rolled with the attack after being knocked off balance, down hill towards the open plains. Flowers it is, he thought. With a layer of dirt on him now, the tom popped back on his paws to the right of his attacker. His sky blue eyes took in the flowers around him more closely. Some were as tall as him and others mere speckled of color on the forest floor. Not that he really knew much about flowers though, just the ones not good to eat. Stepping back, edging further into the tall flowers area, he sunk down into a crouch. He was soft in his steps, edging away from the hill to the left and trying to get around to Shieldheart’s side. Once there, he gave a few swipes and darted back again, drawing the other tom forward.

While Shieldheart jumped back to his feet, he lost sight of Cloudymuse in the flowers. Their height and density did well to camouflage Cloudymuse and their scent clouded his sense of smell as well. Had this all been part of Cloudymuse's plan? Dang it. He didn't know whether to feel dumb or impressed and there wasn't enough time to figure it out either. The swipes at his side pulled him in and while he felt going forward might very well be another part of Cloudymuse's scheme, Shieldheart wasn't strategic enough to counter it.
The best thing he could come up with was to crouch low as well and hope that would make it harder for the other cat. He peered through the stems, looking for any sign of the other's whereabouts. But ducked low and confused, he felt like he may as well be out in the open. I really should have thought this through...
(No I definitely want to continue! Just lost the thread. Completely my fault! Thanks for tagging me. I think I’ve got a few too many threads at the moment that’s some are slipping past me lol) Flurryofstars wanna have them talk after the fight and in taht moment he can mean toon the dates? Maybe Shieldheart could ask him where he disappeared to the other evening?
Cloudymuse watched, a small grin appearing on his face as Shieldheart stepping into the flower patch. He struck again from the left before trying to move behind Shieldheart and out of the way. The tom stayed low to the ground, hoping it would be enough to keep him hidden before he made his final attack. While this may not have been his first choice in plan, it wasn’t a bad one. The better one would have been to push Shieldheart back down the hill and watch him tumble away and maybe leaving enough time for Cloudymuse to watch the clouds form said hill. A cat could dream.
