"Jetfire?" Ghostcrown stepped into the nursery and smiled a little when he saw she was inside. "I know you're resting, but someone is here to see you, and I thought you would want to talk. I'll be right outside if you need me," he promised; then the dark tom retreated once more.
Into the den stepped a pathetic scrap of fur barely clinging to a skeleton. Despite the great offense he took to exercise and his great devotion to laziness, the tom still had not been spared the trials of his captors, and there was very little flesh left on the half-starved prisoner's frame. His face was sallow and sunken in, his eyes ringed with darkness but when he offered an exaggerated smile his lips were pale and dehydrated.
"Heyyyy," Sparrow greeted, already doubting his half-baked decision to come here. He stood awkwardly in the entrance to the den, staring at his former apprentice as he waited for her to speak as if she was going to explain what was happening now.

Jetfire nodded, wondering who it was that had come to her this time. Her mother and father were already here, maybe another one of her siblings? She blinked gazing curiously at the entrance as a ragged figure appeared in the entry way. It took her several moment to realize who it was that had entered until her ears flickered at his voice, she stood quickly causing her head to spine a chorus of protesting squeaks from her newborns at the sudden movement "Sparrowflight?!?!?"
He looked awful, not that she was one to talk. Without her pregnancy hiding it, her thin frame was even more apparent. How her bones jutted out from underneathe her pelt, the kits she had been carrying taking almost all the nutrients that she was able to take in. Cobwebs still covered her belly from where her scar had burst open during labor. But things were starting to look better. Without all the hormones and herbs being constantly put into her system, she was slowly becoming more like her old self. She was smiling more, managing to shake off a lot of the depression that had plagued her for so long now that she had Firetooth to lean on. Concern glimmered in her blue eyes "What happened to you?"
“What happened–” he repeated blankly, unable to discern quite what she meant. Maybe he was in shock from her appearance. Hearing about it was different than seeing, he’d been told. Maybe his malnourished state didn’t leave him enough energy to figure it out for himself, but he had been in this position before and he ended up fine .... well .... if this was fine.
But then his mind found itself again. He leaned against the wall of the nursery to steady his dizziness. “Oh, this? Just another day in prison, honestly I look better than half of the hunters,” he assured with a nod. “Better than you, I think. Always knew I trained you wrong, but I don’t think it was my fault.” He had avoided her as much as possible, but she was too insistent. She would never take this lazy lifestyle.

Jetfire watched as he leaned against the wall of the nursery, he certainly didn't look fine. She rose to her shaky paws that trembled as she walked, making her way over to him, until she could touch her nose to his cheek "I didn't give you much choice in the matter" she teased gently, but her eyes were soft as she spoke still not quite believing that that he was ok. In SunClan he had looked so magnificent, or perhaps it was just her perception of him at such a young age. But seeing the tom she had looked up to for so long in such a state was quite the shock
"I'm glad to see you" she smiled a little "you can meet your namesakes"
“Believe me, I know,” Sparrow huffed. The gesture didn’t bother him like it used to: not because he had grown used to her, but because she was older now, and it was less strange than having a kit near him. “You were the most stubborn, insistent cat I’ve ever met. Do keep in mind I’ve known several leaders and deputies very intimately. At least you’ve outgrown that,” he mused calmly. She was being fairly normal now.

"Or have I?" she mused, even though there was far less energy in her voice than normal, the exhaustion of all that had happened weighing heavily on her. But the expression on his face when she brought up 'namesakes' was priceless, causing her to give a hoarse giggle "I named my first litter of kits after you" knowing that he would probably hate the whole idea of it with as much as he tried to stay away from kits, letting him have a mini heart attack before continuing
"No they are not yours so calm down, but..." she smiled slightly waiting to see what he would say next
Sparrow gaped at her wordlessly. Now he absolutely regretted coming here. This whole thing was a mistake, she had deserved some of what happened to her, he was horrified by the idea.
“Of course they aren’t mine,” he yipped indignantly, “You think I don’t know that?! I’ve had a lot of kits, I know how it works! But what do you mean they’re ALL named after me?! You only know one, maybe two of my names.” His head was spinning. Had Misty Rose told her secrets behind his back??

"I'd be surprised if you can name more than five of your kits" she replied, still not quite understanding why he was so freaked out "they are about to become apprentices... but just like most SunClan cats, I picked out their warrior names as well. Fawnflight, Grumpysparrow, Sparrowkiss, and Secretcrown" she winked after the last name, something that only him or perhaps Mistyveil would understand the reference to. When she was younger she had been determined to figure out the secret move he had used on Mistyveil that day, not understand that is was not a battle move at all.
Sparrow considered a funny quip, something like ‘I have more than five kittens?’ but he wasn’t quite confident enough in the truth to make that joke. But he was pretty sure he has more than five kids by now.
“Ha-ha,” Sparrow began with a slow exhale, thinking this was not very funny at all, and far from pleased. He was honestly freaked. Especially after that wink...
“Did you even think when you chose those names? Did you ever consider a crown isn’t secret if you put it in a name and TELL EVERYONE THE KIT IS NAMED AFTER ME? I’m going to have to move again,” he groaned. “Misty Rose will kill me.”

"Actually I thought quite a lot about the names that I choose" she retorted
Jetfire wasn't bothered by how freaked out Sparrowflight was, actually a warm purr rumbled in her throat the worse he freaked out on her. It was like old times, though if he got to loud she knew that there would be several other cats coming in to make sure that she was ok. Ghostcrown and Firetooth wouldn't be to far away knowing that she had a visitor "and most don't know that they are named after you... Actually if ... he..." she said the word like she the word he like she had eaten something bitter "realized whom they were named after, it wouldn't have gone over well" she paused smiling a little
"I gave them names that remind me of better times, a time when I was happy and free to be whom I wanted be. Names that would have meaning to me"
“A happier time?” Sparrow snarled, a hard edge to his voice. “What about my happiness? You can’t go around sharing secrets like that, Jetfire, you’re going to get me killed!”
For the first time in a long time, Sparrow was upset. Angry. Scared.
“It was a happier time for me too, and now I can never go back because of you.”

Jetfire's ears fell back, confused and hurt by his statement. What secrets? Why couldn't he go back? How many cats lives had she ruined?
She turned her head away, trying hard to keep away the darkness the had plagued her for so long. Tired of apologizing constantly for just existing and being alive "I don't understand" she finally muttered, gathering her strength to look up to meet his gaze, to be strong "but I am done accepting the blame for ruining other cat's happiness" her words were bitter and cold as she turned her back to Sparrowflight to return back to her nest, quite the dramatic change in atmosphere "We all make our own decisions, and I can't go back and change the past any more than you can"
“I’m not asking you to change the past. I’m making you change the future.” Her coldness didn’t shake him. The frozen hills of WinterClan had raised him and a violent cannibal stalked his mate’s paw.
“When Secretkit becomes a warrior, you’re going to change their name. I don’t care what you make it; call them Secrethatred if you’re angry with me. But you are not going to call them Secretcrown.”

Jetfire blinked "and why would I do that?"
His request had completely caught her off guard, if anything she thought he would have been angry about the secret part of his name.... Why would crown make him angry? That part of Secretkit's name actually had nothing to do with Sparrowflight "Crown is a perfectly good name, and...." she paused still not quite understanding "The last part of his name came from the cat who saved me... not once, but twice..." her voice trailed off trying to figure out the puzzle "Did Ghostcrown ask you to convince me to change it?" She had thought that there was no secrets between them any more, and that he was happy that she was with Firetooth. Was this some round about way of telling her that he wasn't as ok with her relationship with Firetooth as he claimed?
Sparrow growled, furious with her resistance. His skinny neck arched as he prepared to threaten her, but then...
“What is a Ghostcrown and why would it ask me to change the name?” he echoed, confused. “You... you really didn’t name that one after me?” He say back heavily on his haunches as he considered the implications. If she told everyone the kit was named after someone else and not him, maybe this wasn’t the disaster he expected.

"You know... Ghostcrown" she blinked
Hadn't Ghostcrown been the one to escort him in, knowing that she and Sparrowflight had once been close? "He was also a member of SunClan, father of Desertpaw, Spiritpaw, Crowpaw, and.... Raypaw" she tilted her head slightly "Secretkit is partially named after you... After all I spent how many moves trying to learn about your secret move? But Crown is after Ghostcrown. He... He supported me when I need him the most, and got me and my kits out of SunClan. Secretkit already knows whom he is named after, and is quit proud of it. You haven't met him yet, but he is even more stubborn than I was"
She paused, watching as the anger faded from his face "Why? Don't tell me. Your some long forgotten prince"
More stubborn than she was?— well, that was a cat he was determined to never meet.
“Ha ha ha,” he laughed, “very funny. Me, a forgotten prince? Yeah right. What kind of prince gets thrown in prison all their life? Don’t be silly. Do I look like a prince to you? No, no, I definitely do not.”

"Looks can be deceiving" she replied curtly, now even more curious than ever about the more recent turn of events. She mulled over how hard she wanted to press him for answers. Back when they first met she would have been relentless, but she was far to tried now to concoct crazy ideas like dragging his nest out into the middle of the lake, but he didn't know that. "So I suggest you go ahead and just say what is really on your mind, and why naming him secretcrown really upset you" she paused, a little amused smiled tugging at the edges of her lips "or perhaps I'll tell everyone that crown was because of you after all"
Sparrow scowled. She didn't leave him much of a choice. Jetfire was certainly annoying enough to risk his life like that if he didn't tell her the truth, but it was a story he didn't want anyone to know. His old fears ran deep, even all these moons later, when his enemies were dead and buried.
"Yeah, okay," he muttered, staring at her hard, wishing the ground would swallow her up or claw out her tongue. "When I came to WinterClan all those moons ago, I was just an apprentice, I was nearly dead at that, but they threw me in prison anyway. Left me to rot there, even when I proved myself. At first, they knew why, but as leaders came and went, they forgot who I was. Probably helped that I changed my name a few times, but really, they just knew it was best to leave me. Then it was just tradition, I suppose. It was safer there, I didn't mind." The mottled brown tabby shrugged his shoulders, casual, though there was an edge to his voice.
"It was safer for me to keep who I was a secret because they had already hunted down my father and killed him in his own territory. Took my mentor eventually, and my sister; never did hear what happened to my father's new chick, but they probably got her too. And yeah," Sparrow sighed, "it was 'cuz my father was a leader. So if you tell anyone who I am, they'll try and kill me too, so you better keep your mouth shut and tell everyone that kit has nothing to do with me."

Jetfire listened, watching his face for signs of deception but it seemed like the words he spoke were true. She waited a few moments "Then I will not say that kit was named after you..." she paused, taking in the story, even though a lot of details had been left out. As much fun as it was to give him a hard time, she didn't want him dead... Besides she understood the feeling of not wanting to be found. Even now that she had escaped SunClan, she always found herself looking over her shoulder waiting for the day Bloodystar discovered where she had gone and came for her and the kits
