Tinymutiny stood outside the rest of the crowd gazing at the sunflowers while the rest of the clan went about their business. This is where Oakshade should have been buried with a sunflower planted over his grave, not stuck in MoonClan. Even if she died now she couldn't be with him in the afterlife now, her love torn away from her for eternity. It was only the heavy herbs that Bloodystar and her kits kept in her system that kept he so calm as she stared blankly ahead. Images of her and Oakshade froliking in happier times playing over and over again in her mind. JadieNova
----------------> Innocentlament had dabbed a bit of green paint onto her nose, an unusual choice to make her stick out. She had now been through several romance festivals, but thus far she had not yet found a tom that interested her. She padded over to her brother Bloodystar a small smiled "Are you going to run this year?"Jadie
Standing next to several other she-cats she spoke to the closest of them, the Janus Resilientbloom. “Do you have your eye on anyone?” She asked, not sure why she felt compelled to run even though no one had caught her eye. Of course her daughter asked her to, pretty sure the little kit had gone around asking everyone she knew if they liked her mother. Palekit seemed to have a strange fascination with the idea of true love. Jetclaw
"Are you serious?" Soaringpaw laughed out loud, but she drew her paw over her mouth to cut it off, she didn't want to draw Bloodystar's attention and was glad to realize that she hadn't. Her date with Balancedscale hadn't really gone anywhere and no one else had shown much interest in her, so couldn't imagine anyone coming after her. That mean that the curiosity that drove many cats was tempting her: Who would give chase?
She glanced to Darkpaw and opened her mouth to start scheming with him only for her parents to show up. Soaringpaw groaned at theirs plans, did they not realize that she was almost a Warrior and not only old enough to make her own decisions, but strong enough to back them up?
"I want to run."
Soaringpaw was a rebel at heart. Her parents would have gotten a more favorable result had they told her they wanted her to run. racerFaith

Darkpaw's claws dug into the ground in frustration at his sisters reveal. She wanted to run?
The black tom tilted his head to the side. But why? He looked to Unseenlights and Duskslayer in surprise and then back at Soaringpaw, but with the look in her eyes he knew that there would be no talking her out of it. Even if they disapproved, she would she just sneak behind their backs to do it, and then who would protect her? If she was going to run, then he had no choice. She was not going to do this on "Protect"
"Soaringpaw, it's not right for you to force anyone to be your mate. That person deserves to have the chance to say no to you, but by participating you've already decided that whoever you pick doesn't get a say in that. If your siblings did participate and they were pinned down and forced to marry someone wouldn't you despise that person? Wouldn't you become what you despise by doing the same thing to others?" Duskslayer asked, a rare look of fear in his eyes, had she really become someone who would just take another cats freedom like that? How could he have failed her and everyone else who would come into her presence this much if she truly had grown into someone who cared more for her own wishes than others?

"There's no point in arguing." Bravepaw answered Duskslayer for Soaringpaw, albeit looking more irritated than anything. "She's going to do it anyway, just because you don't want her to." He stared at Soaringpaw, practically daring her to prove him wrong, then glanced at Darkpaw with a slight nod. His brother had that much right. If she was going to go, someone had to make sure nothing went wrong. FaithJadieracer
"Mom," Valleyrose said gently, padding over to her Tinymutiny's side and putting her paw over hers. She'd grown up so much in the past few moons and not easy to tell apart from her twin Magnoliablush. The torbie-and-white she-cat had simply but elegant body paint emphasized by a simple daisy she had pinned behind her ear and a few flower petals she stuck to her cheeks with body paint. Her nose had a pale lavender spread across it - a clear indication that she would be running - but her pale amber eyes were full of worry, "What are you doing here? I thought you were going to stay at camp..." racer
"Yes, I will be running," Bloodystar answered his sister simply as he applied red body paint to his own nose, "Although I do not have any particular cat in mind. I'm hoping that the Sun God guides my paws to my soulmate, but... Oh, never-mind."
It seemed that any time Bloodystar opened his heart up to a she-cat, she'd tear it out of him and leave him there to bleed out. He'd had no luck with them and wasn't sure if it was his own personal curse or the Sun God teaching him lessons. He prayed it was the later, but as a result of having his heart break so many times, he was ore guarded.
Clearing his throat, Bloodystar called out, "She-cats, get into position! You'll be released shortly!" racer
FYI: If the tom pins the she-cat and she rejects him, the tom can be a morally good cat, accept it, and let her go. If he's not morally good then the pairing can be forced to be mates. Just wanted to make that clear here xD

Unseenlights sighed, listening to what her daughter had to say. Soaringpaw always rebelled when he father tried to make her do something so it shouldn't have been so much of a surprise. She touched her nose to Duskslayers cheek, before walked over to her daughter and wrapping her tail around her shoulders "Soaringpaw... This isn't like you" she paused giving her words time to set in "You are proud, independent, and bold. You don't have to do this ceremony to prove anything, nor would we stop you from becoming mates with someone that you like. Me and you father just don't approve of the way this ceremony is being handled... So please explain why do you want to run?" she kept her words soft, even though she disagreed with her decision completely "Help me to undestand" FaithJadieHoneystorm
----------------> Tinymutiny was almost in a dream like state when her daughter approached, staring blankly to where the sunflowers fields had just started to bloom again thanks to her daugheter's handy work. The silver she-cat's eyes were misted over, only turning at her daughters touch to stare up at her with confusion "Oakshade..." the sorrow in her voice was so thick that it could have been cut with claws "This would have been our anniversary..." how she longed to see that stupid grin of his again, to reveal in his warm and earthy scent as she curled up upon his chest. "Now... even if I die I won't see him again" Jadie
"I don't want Soaringpaw to go alone either, she'll probably need more protection so if she goes I'm going," Blindfaith volunteered cautiously, "Darkpaw and I will look out for her no matter how fast she runs."

Innocenlamment waited over before pressing her head to his "I will pray for you brother" she added before she headed off to join the other she-cats Jadie

"If you're both going, I'm going too." Bravepaw interjected, despite his obvious annoyance at Soaringpaw's decision. "So I guess we're all going together." racerJadieFaith
Bleedingheart lined up with the rest of the she-cats who were running. She was curious if any of her date would chose her or if someone else would. Regardless she would probably be running as fast as she could to avoid any unknown toms, she wasn’t up for a marriage with someone she barely knew. Granted she did not have a super close relationship with anyone that she wanted to take to the next step just yet. Overall though between her daughter wanting her to find someone to be happy with and the fact that Bloodystar seemed pretty insistant everyone should try to find a mate.
"DAD! You don't understand...." Soaringpaw snapped, her tail going straight in the air and bushing out slightly, clearly she was not afraid of him in the slightest and very, very annoyed, "... I'm not going to force anyone to do anything, I just want to run, OK?! Why do you need to know everything about my life!? I'm almost a Warrior, for Blind Protector's sake! Let me do what I want for the first time in my life!"
Her hackles were starting to raise now, clearly she was starting to get herself upset but, when Unseenlights stepped in, she looked almost frozen. While Soaringpaw frequently butted heads with her father, she was also much, much more reserved around her mother. It didn't seem right to fire back at her. The dark-furred she-cat sighed and forced her fur to lie flat before responding in a chilly tone.
"I just..." She didn't want to admit that she was running to make sure other cats were kept safe. Soaringpaw was no saint, no hero, and she didn't want to be. In this way she was just like her father. So, she looked away, not meeting Useenlights's eyes out of guilt which of course he mother would never be able to see, "... Think it's for the best." FaithracerHoneystorm
Duskslayer approached Soaringpaw with slow deliberation. The shadows around him wicked like flames as he towered over her. He studied her briefly, his turquoise eyes looking over her with a coldness he had never shown before.
"I do let you do everything Allaria. I let you decide at four moons old to come with. I've agreed to take you out of camp when you were too young, I gave you lessons about making traps when you weren't responsible. You've bullied your way to get everything you want, that's on you. But you endangering your siblings by making them feel forced to go with you? I feel that's on me for not teaching you better. You're just like me now, you have a reckless desire and drag your whole family into it. I had just hoped I raised you to be better than me," He finished, this time closer to her than he had been before, but before the moment he could get more intense he shrugged, the aura around him immediately becoming lighter, "Go, it's a safe environment to live and learn. You for running off, all of you for being followers to your rebel without a cause. Whatever happens I'll get you out of it, just know I won't always be here to do that for you, Allaria Eerie," Duskslayer said before tilting his head to the race station, "Go on, prove what you gotta prove."
Ignoring the family quarrel at her side, Lovelypaw chose her starting point which was the very best starting point. She would make it the starting point that no one had ever seen before, because SunClan was the best and she was going to be just as good, if not better, than SunClan in her very good starting point.
"Don't say things like that," Valleyrose wrapped her tail around Tinymutiny's frame. She was larger than her mother, but not by a lot, "If the border between MoonClan and SunClan didn't stop him from being with you, then neither will anything in the afterlife. Besides... you do know that he lives on in you, and in me. What would he say during a time like this? Probably something cheesy, like like... Oh, I don't know... you make me ha-pea? Get it? Peas?"
She was no comedian, though, not like her dad. She wasn't sure there was anything she could say to cheer up Tinymutiny in her current state. Regardless, she would try. Wiping the lavender paint off her nose, she nudged her mother's shoulder slightly, "Let's go somewhere else, OK?" racer

Tinymutiny placed her head down on her paws, looking out at the sunflowers as they fluttered in the breeze "He wasn't buried properly... his soul won't be able to go to the isle. When I die I'll have to spend eternity without him, without half of my soul" the only thing more painful than staying here and enduring was the thought of moving on and having no hope of seeing him again.
"You REALLY think that giving a FOUR MOON OLD KIT a choice like that is really a choice!??!" Soaringpaw's voice was rising and she was getting really worked up now. Blazing blue eyes met just the same blue as she took a step toward her father, a growl the came from her soul raising up in the back of her throat like some cornered animal, "What kit in their right mind would agree to be separated from their parents at an age like that?! Just like you and mom would go through hell in back for us, we are driven by that same desire to be with you! Yeah... I knew that SunClan was dangerous even though I may not have totally understood why... and I couldn't live with myself knowing that those I loved most were in trouble while I was safe and sound. I have too big of a heart for that, although I'm starting to think you don't see that!"
Soaringpaw was practically yelling by the end of her rant, tears teasing at the corners of her eyes, paws trembling. She was becoming aware that eyes were being drawn to her and, as soon as she realized that, she pinned her ears to the back of her head. She didn't want to make a sense... but she wasn't going to back down.
"I may have been a bully when I was younger, but the fact that you still think I am goes to show just how little you know about your own kids," Her voice was much more controlled now, mirroring the same tone he had first addressed her with, "Why would Bravepaw, Blindfaith and Darkpaw choose to go with me if I was some tyrant? They probably feel the same way I did back when I was four moons old... family sticks together, because we are stronger together. They can stay behind if they want, be safe and sound like Huntleigh, seems to be working real well for him... but they won't."
The she-cats were mostly lined up now: Soaringpaw finally broke her gaze with her father and lifted up her paw to join them, "... And I don't need you permission, but thanks, I guess."
"No problem," Duskslayer said when she finished. At first it looked like that was going to be it as he stood to walk away, but something made him pause, "I gave you a choice because it was the same choice my parents gave to me. Stay or leave, in my case my littermates all split up, so yes, it is a choice. Not every story ends with the kits sticking with their parents. But if you need someone to blame you can hate me, I won't mind."
Duskslayer looked at Allaria's shaking body, resisting the urge to comfort her. Every time he tried to be kind to her, she only pushed away, she clearly didn't want his pity, so the next best thing was. "Go prove your evil dad wrong," Duskslayer said, with a slight spirited energy before walking away to the side lines.
Blindfaith didn't look nearly as confident as the rest of her siblings. Maybe if she wasn't recently blinded she would have, but now she was here because she felt pressured to be. Darkpaw and Allaria were closer than she was with them, it was because she was captured in NightClan. She missed out bonding with them, maybe if she had been around, dedicated herself to staying close to them she wouldn't feel alienated. If she stuck next to them through this then maybe they would finally invite her along without her having to prompt them. But seeing as how Bravepaw and Darkpaw would have to leave she wasn't felt like any armor she had was gone. Bravepaw was her rock, she had felt a bit more invincible when he was close to her, now she only had her sister. Which was great, but her sister wasn't on a mission to keep her safe, which meant watching her own back without any sight...
"Mom," Valleyrose urged, again trying to get her mother back to her feet, this time a bit more forcefully, "SunClan Code says nothing about the Sunflower Fields being a special requirement to get to the Isle. It's tradition, but not a rule. Many cats do not get proper burials. Dad... Dad isn't the first one."
It broke her heart to see Tinymutiny look so sad and defeated. She had been like this for so long that it was becoming hard to remember her as the vibrant, fearless she-cat she was in her youth. Sun God... If you are listening, please guide my father's soul to the Isle, as well as my mother's back to reality.
