As the sun began to rise so did Lightember. Her yellow eyes glowed in the dark as she stood up with a long stretch, preparing herself for a long day. She was assigned as Masterpaw' mentor and planned on showing him how to be a proper warrior. She didn't know the tom much at all and wasn't too sure what to expect but prayed to starclan he wouldn't be too much of a handful...although truthful she could handle it. Probably.
Lightember walked over to where the apprentices slept and quietly walked in. Tapping Masterpaw's shoulder she whispered in his ear. "It's time for training, wake up and meet me by the entrance. We will worry about eating later." Just as how she came in she left without a sound to her step. Giving herself one more good stretch the warrior made it to her destination, now feeling both alert and limbered up.
On most days, Masterpaw would wake up early and take his laps around the camp, as it had become almost a sort of ritual to him since he first started training with Jayjack. Since he began his apprenticeship, however, he quickly discovered that doing so every day would wear him out, and so he decided to take some days off from his normal routine. This just so happened to be one of those days, so he was quite surprised to be awoken this early.
Without a word of complaint, Masterpaw got up, taking a few moments to stretch before quietly making his way out of the apprentice den. Blinking what sleep remained out of his eyes, his gaze landed on Lightember. "Good morning," he said as he approached, rolling his shoulders. He must have slept terribly last night, since he was still rather tired and sore. Oh well, he decided, it should wear off soon.

"Good morning, nice to see you up and awake so quickly for training. Today we will begin at the Training Hallow and perhaps may visit the Firefly Meadow. When we arrive at the Training Hallow we will go over the basics in the warrior code and basic fighting moves. If I feel you got the basics down we will then travel to the Firefly Meadow for basics in hunting. For now follow me this way and stay close, its almost morning time but there could be some night time predators around." With a flick of her tail the she cat started out of the camp and towards their destination. From what she saw so far with Masterpaw he might just be a perfect apprentice any mentor would want. Polite, eager, and ready to start the day. "If you have questions feel free to ask them while we are heading to the Hallow."
Throughout her explanation of the day, Masterpaw had remained silent, only giving a nod when he felt he needed to. He had to make his mentor proud of him, otherwise he would surely be in for a lecture from Jayjack. The aurulent was the one cat that he could not disappoint, and failing his training would definitely cause that. Shaking his anxieties off of him for the moment, Masterpaw followed after Lightember. It almost surprised him when the warrior spoke again, and he spent a moment thinking before asking, "What do you expect of me?" Did she also expect him to be the perfect warrior, like Jayjack? She definitely sounded like she had high expectations for him.

"What I expect is for you to show me what you got. What is the best you can give me? I want to reiterate this: I am asking you to prove yourself to me by giving your best...but that does not mean being the best. Do you understand what I am saying Masterpaw?" The she cat leapt over a small log in their path and paused to wait for Masterpaw to cross.
Did she truly have no expectations for him to be the best? Somehow, Masterpaw couldn't bring himself to believe that. He gave his mentor a wary gaze, but quickly looked back at the path to leap over the log. Still, it would do him no good to try to argue that fact, so he gave a nod. "I do," he replied. Even if it was true that she didn't hold him to extreme expectations, that didn't mean that Masterpaw could relax. Jayjack would definitely be checking in on his progress, and if he didn't show the level of talent that the Aurulent expected, he would be in trouble. He had to give better than his best, but the pressure on his shoulders was a heavy one.

Continuing on she didn't argue his answer. She didn't feel like he was sincere but wasn't going to press him to give an answer that wasn't true. So instead she changed paced as they grew closer to their destination. "Masterpaw what is it that you wish to be as a warrior? Be strong and brave? Dependable? Cunning? Loyal? Smart? What to you is the definition of being a warrior? Or rather what do you think is the most inportant thing a warrior has?"
