Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
As Sunkit, or Queen Sunstar, peered across the denmates she had gathered together from her perch on a sunningrock, she lifted her tail so it floofed out behind her, a ginger-toasted banner fluttering in the breeze. She could see the various shades of confusion on their faces, not quite understanding what she was talking about, but there was an energy buzzing through the camp that the kits couldn't shake. Honestly, if she could have found less scrappy kits for her army, she would have. You couldn't have everything though. Clearing her throat, she began to address the other kits. "Alright, listen up, maggots. Sir Fisher," she indicated towards Fisherkit, "and I have been chosen by StarClan--" Not true, but could anyone disprove it? "-- to defend SummerClan from the sky ant invasion. What you see all around you, the white stuff on the ground, are the corpses of the sky ants that we have disposed of. However, I have received some intel that there will be another wave attacking tonight and we will need reinforcements. That is where all of you come in. Now some of us may die," she intoned gravely, "but that is a sacrifice I am willing to make." Sunkit was great at speeches-- very motivational.
Overhead, the clouds were angry and gray, threatening snow at any moment. That was the war that loomed in Sunkit's mind. Soon, the sky would fracture and open a portal through which their supposed enemy would rain down, and they were the only ones who knew what was coming. Not even Ratstar knew of the impending danger to SummerClan. It was their duty to ensure their clan had a future to look forward to, a future safe from sky ants.
Jollykit wasn't super sure about anything that Sunkit was saying, but it sounded like fun. The patched tabby kit vibrated with a tangible excitement, his claws digging into the snow underfoot.
Sunkit glanced to either side of himself, squinting faintly. He had been just as excited as any other kit at the idea of playing a game that could test his potential. Unfortunately, he wasn’t anticipating their enemy to be — he glanced at snow skies — sky ants. His same name companion liked to act like she was above others, but he was willing to bet she had a far more vast imagination than anyone else. He smiled.
“So do you have a battle plan or are we flying in blind?”
Sunkit regarded not-Sunkit imperially, then clicked her tongue. "Of course there's a battle plan, Cadet... Kit." She really needed to assign him a new name soon, otherwise their denmates were sure to get confused between the two of them. "The sky ants are going to attack all at once, which means we will need to fight in groups to conserve our strength. I will need some volunteers for the first wave, and those that are left will be in the second wave. One will be lead by yours truly, and Sir Fisher will lead the other." Despite her vanity, there was a tactical brilliance she wielded that befuddled a few of the gathered kits.
The orange tabby tom stared at her with a blank expression that, to some, could look like confusion, but to those who knew how to read him, was a true form of his disappointment. “Alright, so... who’s in wave 1 and wave 2? If the sky ants are coming all at once, all over the place, where are we going to hide to recover our strength? Who’s going to remove the bodies when we all inevitably fall under the sky ants?”
Well, that was dark. He reflected idly, yet found he didn’t regret it.
Weevilkit, for what it was worth, was extremely comfortable laying in what apparently was a pile of dead sky ants. Paws loafed beneath his overgrown, tangled fur, he listened to his sister's extravagant speech with a mix of amusement and exasperation. He had no idea where Sunkit had come up with any of this, but it certainly sounded like fun. Though if she called him a 'maggot' again he was totally telling mom. He looked over at his friend sitting beside him, grinning. "Hey Pikekit," he mewed somewhat jokingly. "Ya wanna help me and my sis fight off the sky ant invasion?"
The fluffy she-kit inwardly groaned. What an army this was turning out to be. "Well, which wave do you want to be in?" Her patience was slipping, evidenced by her clipped tone and narrowed eyes. "And the second group will take cover in the nursery. My recruits, because I am superior, will rest up in Ratstar's den." She was sure her pap wouldn't mind. Surveying the rest of the crowd, she spied her brother and his....friend or boyfriend or whatever lazing around, and she called out a sharp, "Cadets Bubbie and Pike! Get your sorry tails over here or that'll be four-trillion...uh... laps!"
Piekit was more than happy to stay where he was currently slouched against Weevilkit, his golden fur flush against his friend's gray coat, but that was short lived before Weevilkit stood up and the cold seeped into his side instead. He ignored Sunkit's threat with little more than a flick of his ear. "I guess so," he agreed apprehensively, warily glancing between the siblings. Sunkit was not among his favorite cats, but if Weevilkit was gonna leave anyway, he didn't have much else to do besides follow. "I bet I can kill more of em than you can!"
“I’ll be in the second wave, thanks.” Better than getting my hind stripped by Ratstar when he finds wave one in his den, he thought with a flick of his tail. The orange tabby turned his gaze toward Pike and Weevil, a small smile stretching his lips.
“Hi. I’m Sunkit.” He nodded his head at the two, hoping he’d make a few new friends. “Are you two going to be in wave one with Sunstar?”

Sir Fisher, or Fisherkit, looked around the camp at the already dead sky ants then up at the gray impending clouds full of more enemies waiting to fall upon them. "I'll lead the second wave then," he told Queen Sunstar. "Alright!" he called out. "Those of you who weren't chosen by Queen Sunstar, follow me to the nursery. We'll await the arrival of our enemies there."
Hollykit watched the events unfolding before her with a wide-eyed stare of confusion. "Wait I wasn't paying attention," she piped up, though she followed Fisherkit...Sir Fisher...whatever he was called over to the nursery like he'd asked. "What are we doing? Where we we going? Will there be free food? If there's free food then I'm totally in!"

"There'll be free food for every cat who helps us win the battle," Fisherkit mewed magnanimously. "As for what we're doing, we're going to save SummerClan from the sky ants. They're going to jump off those clouds when they float over our camp. They want to bury us but we'll kill 'em while they're falling." He scuffed his paw though a pile of old snow. "See these are dead ones and they pile up if they land but if we squash them before they hit the ground they turn into water and disappear."
"Nuh Uh, I bet I'll kill more," Weevilkit taunted back to Pikekit, before turning to notice the...other Sunkit his sis had a point it was kinda confusing, but she could at least be a bit more polite about it as their denmate approached the duo. "I hope," the dark-grey kit replied, scratching idly at his ear with his back leg. "Pikekit and I wrestle all the time, so killing a bunch of puny sky ants'll be nothing. Granted, I think my sissie's finally lost it; I mean, it's just snow, but whatever."
Fluffy tail lashing, Queen Sunstar descended to prowl amongst her cadets until she reached her brother and the less important toms beside him. "What are you all waiting on? This is war, no time for dilly-dallying!" She wrinkled her nose at them in stark disapproval, though this was mainly offered to Pikekit and not-Sunkit, her amusement unable to be banished when her gaze met Weevilkit's. She turned to Pikekit and titled her head, loftily questioning, "Where's that weird kit you hang out with a lot? We need more troops."
"Iridescentpaw?" While it was true they spent much of their time together if nothing else was occupying the golden tom, Pikekit hadn't seen much of the overly fearful apprentice. "I'unno, Sunki--"
"That's Queen Sunstar to you."
"...Right." He glimpsed sidelong at Weevilkit with an exasperated expression, wondering not for the first time how the pair could be siblings. "He likes to hide between the sunningrocks or behind the apprentices' den, but you can usually see his tail sticking out."
True to form, a furry white tail belonging to the apprentice in question snaked out from behind his new den, no doubt attempting to hide from his mentor and life in general. The shouts of war and an army hadn't gone unnoticed either, and the garden keeper trainee felt woefully unprepared to partake in any such thing, but Sunkit had a dogged persistence and seemed adamant on gathering as many free paws as possible. "Alright, one of you go drag him out and get him ready. We're running out of time."

Molekit was not paying attention, zoning out before kicking some of the snow up into the air. He rolled onto his back, snow dusting his dark brown pelt like sugar on a donut. He swiped up at one of the snow, catching and crushing some of it between his paws.
Hollykit blinked a few times before giving Fisherkit a big, wide smile. "Oh, I'll do it if there's free food, then!!" she chirped. Hoping to make good use of herself, she fixed Molekit with a disapproving stare. "You! Molekit! Pay attention! The skants are taking over!!!"
Even though she hadn't technically been born yet, and because woof is making me, Cinderkit emerged from the nursery. The roly-poly little gray kit was still not a fan of the cold, but she had heard what sounded like a lot of fun from outside, and curiosity got the best of her. And then... she saw her.
She was beautiful- strong, in charge, and exacting. Cinderkit was drawn to Sunkit like a moth to a flame, even if she could never explain why. Without much thought, because Cinderkit never did much thinking, she dashed over to Sunkit's side. "Can I play?" She asked, with wide blue eyes that were beginning to move towards their eventual amber hue. Maybe Sunkit wouldn't let her play because she was one of the youngest in the nursery, but she desperately wanted to be involved.

Fisherkit watched Cinderkit leave the nursery and go over to Queen Sunstar. That was alright with him if she wanted to be in her group.
"That's sky-ants," he corrected Hollykit, "not scants. Well anyway those clouds are looking darker and they're getting closer. The sky ants are going to jump off them soon so get ready to attack."

"Scant? Like that thing dad says?" Molekit craned his neck towards Hollykit and Fisherkit. Well, maybe Ratstar said it. The word sounded a little too fancy for his taste. He remembered how steep they could be. "Oh god the scants could crush us. Or we could roll down them. That'd be fun."

Fisherkit sighed and rolled his eyes. "Sky ants," he said under his breath. But Molekit had a point about them being fun. This white stuff, snow or sky ants, was fun to play with. Just then a flake floated gently down in front of his face. "The attack has begun!" he called out to the kits who were with him. "Catch the sky ants before they hit the ground!" He jumped up and squashed a falling flake between his front paws.
Hollykit let out a small yelp of abject terror as a skant floated down slowly toward her face--hundreds, thousands of them, in fact. "Get away from my free food, skants!" and attacked wildly, almost scratching a few of the other kits in the process. Friendly fire was fine, if it was to protect her food.
