He stalked through the night shrouded forest, paws faintly crunching on the thin layer of snow that covered the leaf litter. Tiny snowflakes dotted his back, speckling the creamy fur with tiny bits of glittering white. Parting his jaws, Rumblestag grew still and drew in the cold, crisp air over his scent glands, tasting all that the winter forest had to offer him. The faint musk of a rabbit flickered by, causing his stump of a tail to give an excited wave. Stilling himself once more, he went back to concentrating on the scent, dropping into a low crouch and beginning to creep towards his quarry.

It had been a tough night hunting for Tinyspots. She hardly had even a sniff of prey and didn't want to go back to camp empty-pawed. Her brother, Eaglefeather, had caught a mouse and a shew so far. While he was somewhere off to her right prowling for more, she decided to look in the opposite direction. She liked the light snow that drifted down lazily from the dark night sky. And with the layer of snow already on the ground, sounds were muffled giving the whole area an eerie silence.
Just then a slight scent of rabbit came to her nose and excitement swelled in her chest. Turning her head from side to side to determine from which direction it came, she zeroed in on it's location. Slowly she made her way closer toward her prey until she detected another scent. This was definitely cat and a second sniff told her it was NightClan scent. Tinyspots was both relieved and disappointed at the same time. Relieved the cat wasn't an intruder but disappointed he was stalking the same prey. With a sigh, she continued on. Perhaps she could be of assistance.
[ oops, sorry it took me so long to reply, been busy with life stuff :u ]
It was only the faint breeze from the east that told him he had a Clanmate nearby, almost causing him to spit out a silent curse until he realized her scent worked in his favor. It would only push the rabbit towards him, hopefully giving him an easy quick kill. Raising his dark colored head slight, Rumblestag looked to spot the owner of the scent, his shot, stumped tail giving an excited flick.

(No worries!
Creeping slowly toward the prey, the small tortoiseshell warrior worked her way closer causing the rabbit to warily move away from her. It wasn't alarmed just yet, only cautious, knowing it could easily run away from her if pressed. As she moved, she caught the slightest of movement just past the rabbit. So that's where my clanmate is, she thought. She slightly altered her course so she was more in line with him then purposely started to make more noise. The rabbit decided it had enough of this stalker and began to run straight toward Rumblestag.
With the wind now blowing scent towards him, Rumblestag caught the sweet scent of a she-cat, one of his Clanmates, coming from just behind the rabbit. Giving a grin and a small flick of his ear in thanks, he pulled his lean body down into a crouch, springing out only when the rabbit was in his claws. A bit of a tumble, snow and dead leaves flying, and then it was done.
Sitting up on his haunches, Rumblestag let out a grunt of approval and called out, "Teamwork eh?"

"Yes!" Tinyspots mewed as she came running up to Rumblestag. "I'm glad it worked out. I haven't had much luck tonight myself." The warm scent of the freshly killed rabbit filled her nose causing her stomach to growl slightly. She wished she had some prey to take back to camp. "Is this your first catch tonight or have you got others?"
At the sight of the female, Rumblestag dipped his head in a greeting. He admired her small, compact form, much unlike his own lean one. At her question, he gave a small shake of his head. "No, that was my first kill so far," he meowed with a curl of his lip. Snow had began to fall once more, cooling the wounds that had laced his body from the battle that had taken one of Flamingstar's lives. The Clan needed to be fed, and he was one of the few warrior that escaped bad enough wounds to keep them confined to the camp.

Remembering that Rumblestag was one of those who was in the recent battle, Tinyspots felt bad for him. He should be in the camp recovering. There were so many who were wounded from that fight. She considered herself fortunate being having not been in the battle. That was the only thing she disliked about her life. Fighting only caused hard feelings and physical wounds. But she would fight if she absolutely had to.
"How are you recovering?" she asked tentatively, knowing that his wounds may be hindering him from his hunt. "That last battle was a bad one from what I've heard."

"Better than Flamingstar," he scoffed, though regretting it instantly. Rumblestag dipped his head in apology for talking ill of his leader; she had fought bravely and better than most, and gave up a life to do so. "I didn't mean that," he countered shifting the rabbit carcass under his paw. "I just wish I had been there to prevent it, yo0u know?" Sadness clouded his pale green eyes, grief tipping the edges of his lips.
Giving his broad, chocolate covered head a shake, Rumblestag brought his gaze back up to the small she-cats and said, "But what is done is done, we did our best. The Clan survived, and that's all that matters."

Tinyspots thought she understood what Rumblestag had meant and didn't take any offense from his statement. She too would have felt a responsibility to protect their leader, or any other clanmate, if she had to fight in a battle.
"You're right," she agreed. "That's all that matters. But don't go too hard on yourself. I'm sure you did your best. That's all any cat can ask of a warrior."
Rumblestag just gave a grunt, dipping his head to sniff his kill once more. "Well," he grunted, heaving himself up to full stance. "We seem to make a good team, want to keep hunting with me?"

"Sounds good to me," Tinyspots replied smiling. It made her feel good that some other cat thought she was an asset. She had been out with her brother but hadn't seen him for some time. He probably went back to camp anyway, she thought. He had done that to her frequently in the past. "That is a nice rabbit we caught. Let's see if we can find some more." Bringing in a good catch would impress their clanmates and show up her brother.
