"This is already such a mess..." Goldenphantom whispered, twirling her tail around Fia's. Tear stains were slowly drying on her face, but were still pronounced against her light fur. For as much as Goldenphantom appreciated the nomination, she wasn't as hard-headed to face off against some of the other cats. Like Tigerlily and Vixenkismet. If she had it her way, she'd want Windchaser or Rubyflame to take it. She cast a weary glance towards Tigerlily and Snowthorn. It didn't sit right, or maybe they weren't? What kind of plan was there? Or was it just a horrible gut feeling? She didn't know, so she looked away.
"Before we throw out names and insults, let's get a consensus on what exactly we want and where we stand as is, without a leader." Goldenphantom was a massive she-cat, big enough to betray her youth. Definitely the youngest of the Immortal Council, she didn't show it as she spoke with a shocking confidence. Goldenphantom took a deep breath, her voice threatening to shake. "Unless otherwise stated, we still have alliances with the Regime and the League, so those shouldn't be factors. So let me ask this; how many of you think we would benefit from an alliance with Nightclan? And how many not?" There was enough unrest, the conversation needed to slow. If most didn't think an alliance was necessary, there'd be little reason for Tigerlily to take charge.
Mysteryleaf tensed as Snowthorn spoke up, she curled her lip, fury still moving through her as she remembered what he'd put Sweetiepeach through... and now Sweetiepeach wasn't in DayCan anymore.
"Well, if we're basing it off of Imperials, than I don't want Tigerlily or any imperial. Any cat that focuses on just that aspect is shallow." She said tartly shooting Snowthorn a look.
Soaringbird winced as Snowthorn spoke, embodying her thoughts. "Well, the class system does provide somewhat of a structure. But Glowstar helped balance it out a little bit Yuccablossom." She said gently.
Mysteryleaf looked around and since she saw Snowthorn had looked down on Gravelshell she jabbed her tail towards her. "Hey, I Think she'd make a good leader!" She said. Okay, it was a choice built purely to spite Snowthorn, but she'd do it anyways.
"Hold on one moment, Goldenphantom brings up a good point." Burningsummer said. "What does everyone think, I myself and a few cats have spoken up about an alliance with NightClan. But while Snowthorn and Tigerlily are correct in they can't control Flamingstar. IF Flamingstar is going to behave like a spoiled kit, why give her and NightClan the time of day?" She asked. "There are other clans to consider."
"We need a strong leader." Solarpaw piped up. "We've gotta fend off attacks from the other clans! And kill that no good Bloodystar! And probably that Flamingstar too! She sounds awful!" He declared.

Snowthorn’s gaze slowly shifted to Mysteryleaf, of whom had very brashly reacted to his argument. He wasn’t oblivious to the she-cat’s distaste for him, especially given its increase in hostility after him wasting his time with Sweetiepeach. He was, however, taken aback by how childish the socialite was behaving. “I didn’t mean to put down the other classes,” he began in a softer tone. “However, the class system was built to reward those of good character. Imperials are known for their kindness, respect, level-headedness, and willingness to follow the warrior code. It would be wise to acknowledge that when deciding on a leader. Wouldn’t you agree, Mysteryleaf?”
Beneath his careful tone and neutral expression, he was internally seething. While the Socialite had proven herself to be a nuisance, his mind was still reeling from having his servant, Leucisticcrow, nominated as well. When he’d agreed to help Tigerlily climb up to power, he hadn’t realized how idiotic some of his clanmates were. How could anyone ever want a maverick to be their leader!?
"Our biggest benefit in NightClan is having them to fend us quickly against SunClan. However, it hurts NightClan as much, if not more, to not be our allies. DayClan already knows what SunClan is capable of, and has it's former members here to keep them at bay. We have the Immortal Council, multiple ex leaders with numerous lives, the Bright Brigade." Vixenkismet answered Goldenphantom evenly. "We have multiple healers, and a generally good relationship with other clans. I'd say NightClan has more to lose by ruining this alliance than we do, and if Flamingstar won't entertain an alliance without Tigerlily as leader, that's concerning. It implies she only wants someone as DayClan's leader that she can control, and therefore, believes she could control us. Whether Tigerlily is a good leader or not is immaterial if we can't trust her to choose what's best for DayClan over what's best for Flamingstar. I'm more concerned about how the nominees will lead, and whether they'll keep the same Immortal Council cats or not, and if not, who they'll choose." The Maverick didn't necessarily have much trust in DayClan, and rightfully so. But what the ex-Priestess did have was the know how of anything and everything a tyrant might do, and the sense to state such things plainly. "DayClan has been taken advantage of many, many times before. Whoever we're going to elect, a plan needs to be made to ensure they don't abuse their authority. The class system is helpful, but even then, we can't guarantee someone isn't just playing nice until they're given power."
"Not to be defensive, but it is disheartening for me to be the only volunteer who is being put down in everyone else's argument. Purely because I want to remain in good relations with the clan I came from. Glowstar did her best to maintain an alliance with Primal Instinct when she first became leader and maintained relations with clans that she had family in such as WaterClan. My proposal is nothing out of the ordinary or dangerous. I did not realize so many of you look at me as a puppet or someone so unfit to be leader that I must be piled up on..." Tigerlily said, her tail dragged low to the ground. She had treated Vixenkismet as an equal at the war meeting even when Flamingstar put her down. She was the first person to take Vixenkismet's knowledge seriously, asking her to use it to help everyone. Despite everything she knew of Vixenkismet she believed there was a side to her she hadn't yet seen. She wished the she-cat would have given her the same chance especially when Vixenkismet knew what it was like to be judged too soon.
"I believe all of you can be good leaders, but more than that I believe we all know what we would look for, so maybe we should vote based on the names brought forward today me, Tigerlily, Windchaser, Cinnamonsavage, Goldenphantom, Burningsummer, Rubyflame, Vixenkismet, Leucisticcrow, and Gravelshell. Build each other up, not tear one another down, yes?" Tigerlily suggested.
Taking a moment to listen nodding along to Vixenkismet, Burningsummer’s angry haze had faded. Some of the rage that Flamingstar’s plans might come to fruition had cooled as others recognized what she saw.
But in that cooling of her temper, clarity allowed her to see Tigerlily’s dejected posture. And though she felt wary, that this could be a trick she spoke carefully.
“The trouble is Tigerlily I don’t know you very well,” Burningsummer admitted, her gaze hardened. “But I do know Flamingstar, and for you to push so hard on your ability to provide an ‘alliance’ with NightClan is setting off all the warning bells to me. An alliance with NightClan means allying with a cat willing to kill her kits, and nearly kill one of her adopted children in an effort to ‘toughen her up’.” Her tail lashed as she recalled what she’d learned about Creampuff from Turbulentseas and Flamingstar.
“Add in Flamingstar saying directly to me, she doesn’t make allies, she takes over. Insistence on an alliance screams of a mole,” Burningsummer said. “But, I heard you did perform admirably, as a warrior. You proved yourself worthy of being an imperial. But I don’t wish to see DayClan placed in Flamingstar’s paws, and I am not completely certain you wouldn’t. Based on how you’ve spoken both times you pushed to take charge. It’s not a matter of us wanting you to put up walls or renounce Flamingstar. you can maintain a bond while not handing a clan over but, you just haven’t convinced me that if Flamingstar tells you to jump, you’ll just say ‘how high’ and drag DayClan right along with you.”
“But Tigerlily is right, it’s unfair she be dragged so harshly... particularly when we have Vixenkismet pressing to be leader after all she’s done. But since we’re agreeing to building each other up. I can play nice for now,” Rubyflame said tail lashing.
Cinnamonsavage straightened up. He hadn’t entirely been serious. But what the hey, might as well derail things and see where they went. “So what we gonna do like campaign speeches or debate or-?”

Vixenkismet watched Tigerlily closely, holding her gaze to the she-cat for a long moment. Glowstar wouldn't want her to be so harsh. In a few steps the ex Priestess had placed the hope feather back on her ear, and was mere inches from Tigerlily before she dipped her head in apology. "I'm sorry." The she-cat's voice sounded strange in her own mouth as her ivy eyes stared at the ground for a long moment before she tilted her head back up to the Imperial. "I didn't mean to sound as though I was putting you down. I do not trust, nor have a fondness, for Flamingstar, but that doesn't excuse me being unnecessarily cruel to you in particular, simply because of my distrust of your mother, and grief at the loss of Glowstar."
The ex-Priestess usually wasn't the sort of cat to apologize. But with Green gone, Vixenkismet truly wanted to be someone her fiancee would have trusted, even with the fate of DayClan. That meant swallowing her pride, pushing down her insecurities, and daring to be vulnerable, perhaps downright nice, instead of resorting to her usual attitude of shoving everyone who cared away, or treating them like pawns. The fox furred warrior brushed a paw absently against the hope feather once more, the action more an unconscious act of self-soothing than anything else. "Regardless of how this election turns out, I hope that we can work together to build DayClan up to be the best it can possibly be, that I can grow to trust you all, and maybe earn some of that in turn." She kept her gaze on Tigerlily for a moment more before she cast her eyes over all the nominees. "That hope goes out to all of you as well."
Seeing Vixenkismet also apologize for her harshness made something warm in Burningsummer's chest. That was very big of her to apologize to a cat she didn't know very well. And seeing her friend touch the feather Glowstar had given her, brought a well of emotions up with it.
Burningsummer got up and went over to her friend. Coming up beside her and sitting down next to her, rubbing her cheek against her friend's side as she sat down. Everything had been a whirlwind, and even now... seeing the change in Vixenkismet's demeanor. It... it made it all feel so much more real.
She was used to Glowstar being the one to make the big strides. She would've been so proud of Vixenkismet and it made Burningsummer's eyes dewy. So she pressed against her friend to comfort as well as let out some of the grief she hadn't really allowed herself to feel yet. Too wrapped up in her fear of DayClan being lost to Flamingstar to really allow it all to sink in... until now.

Vixenkismet was okay until Burningsummer sat down beside her. For the past few days, the she-cat had most either been wallowing in her own self-pity and anger, or pushing it all off to deal with Funk, who'd lost one of his lives. With one of her few true friends beside her, everything seemed to hit her like a brick. She sucked in a breath, and it shuddered as she pressed her face into the former NightClan leader's shoulder, sobbing softly into her fur. Foxbane was known for her ability to put on a mask so convincing even those closest to her couldn't tell if it was real or fake, but this was far beyond even the tyrant's abilities, and anyone who actually knew grief and loss would probably be able to tell this wasn't simply a ploy for pity. Funny, she'd spent the last few days almost numb, and now she was here crying with her friend over the loss of someone dear to them both. If she went and told her younger self their future, the young Foxdusk would never have believed it.
Burningsummer pressed back into Vixenkismet, her tail brushing her friends flank. A few tears slipping down her own face in turn.
Rubyflame watched the pair, the ginger and white she cat's tail twitching beside her. It was... strange to be watching Foxstar, the cat who had caused her such harm breaking down and pressing her face into Burningsummer's shoulder.
Rubyflame had never fully understood Glowstar's fondness for Foxstar. Never understood the mental gymnastics that the former NightClan leader had done in order to justify maintaining a friendship with the fox furred feline and seemingly keep her morals.
But seeing Foxstar break down and press into Burningsummer, who remained beside her friend and supported her. It... was contrary to everything Rubyflame had thought of her.
Then she shook herself focusing on something elsewhere. This was still an election. And she wouldn't put it completely past a cat like Vixenkismet to use crocodile tears to help sell her credibility. For one so close to Glowstar not being in tears, just would've looked odd.
Thinking about Glowstar made Rubyflame's ears droop. Glowstar had been a guiding light in her life. She'd been so proud to stand by her side as an immortal council member. She'd never really put much thought into what she'd do when Glowstar was gone...
It had seemed unthinkable. And yet here they were.
"Why is an alliance with NightClan swaying this situation in the slightest!?" Moltenmidnight said, planting his paw on the ground firmly with dramatic flair, "Every cat here knew that Flamingstar hated elementals, yet we still allied with her to take down SunClan. It's no surprise to me that she acted on her hatred. If we didn't care before, why do we care now?"
"Moltenmidnight's right," Divinefavor spoke up next, she and Moltenmidnight had been close since they were kits so it was no surprise that she was backing him up, "... I also think it's worth noting that many of you seem to support Vixenkismet who has done far worse than Flamingstar. Flamingstar was in a war fighting on the opposite side as her kits. Vixenkismet, on the other paw, has publicly executed her own children in front of her entire Clan for lesser reasons."
Moltenmidnight nodded along in agreement, "Voting for a cat like Vixenkismet is the same as voting for Flamingstar herself. They aren't that different in this context."
"Why are those two so stuck on the whole Flamingstar thing..." Heatherpaw mumbled, wrapping her tail around her paws. Only a cat sitting very close to her would have heard her speak, "... It's kind of pointless right now, isn't it...?"
(sorry I kind of skimmed everything so maybe this totally like, this discussion is over, idk xD)
