Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Coralkit had been living in SpringClan for less than two moons and she was already sick of it. The food sucked, her denmates were dull, and worst of all—the higher-ups in the Clan were insane. What kind of psycho didn't let kits like her go outside camp for fresh air whenever they wanted to?! It was like they all just expected Coralkit to huff the disgusting second-hand oxygen in the camp without even trying to fight back. They were plain-and-simple fascists, the lot of them. (Coralkit didn't really know what that word meant, but it sounded pretty bad.)
"I'll run through the plan one more time," she said, trying to catch her fellow kits' attention. "First, two of us hold back the queens in the nursery while the rest of us track down the leader. Second, someone stays guard outside while I talk to Jetstar and make her concede to our demands. Third, revolution!"
"Hey, uhhh, Coralkit?" An almost completely hairless paw was raised over a tabbied head, flailing frantically until she caught her denmate's attention. Raggedkit had listened, enraptured, during the whole spiel and was ready to take stance and rally behind Coralkit, but she did have one single, confusing question... "Yeah, um, what's a revolution?" She also didn't know the why behind their cause, but Coralkit seemed pretty passionate and so the tiny kitten was more than prepared to defend the ginger patch kit's honor. Every kit for each other, right? Wasn't that how the saying went? As far as Raggedkit was concerned, it was.
Coralkit suppressed a sigh as her denmate spoke up. She would’ve preferred a partner in crime who actually knew what a revolution was, but then again, Raggedkit seemed like a loyal comrade, eager to learn. “Raggedkit, I like the cut of your jib. A revolution is...” she replied, before trailing off. Come to think about it, what actually was a revolution? Obviously Coralkit basically knew what it meant, but, like, how was she supposed to put that word into other words?
“...It’s when you’re allowed to go outside whenever you want!” Coralkit eventually decided on. “Or when you can eat whatever you want, or go to bed whenever you want, and no one can tell you otherwise!” She nodded enthusiastically. “Yeah, that’s what a revolution is. Definitely. Now—are you with me, or are you with me?”
Coralkit grappled and paused and grappled some more, but she eventually landed on a definition that Raggedkit accepted without a shade of doubt. She had nothing to compare it to, and Coralkit seemed to know what she was talking about after all, appearing confident in her words. A revolution sure sounded fun-- and how lucky that she had such a smart denmate! "Okay! Yeah, I'm with you!... But, can we go through the plan again now that I know what a revolution is?" This was delivered along with a sheepish grin, a shade of embarrassment coloring her features.
Coralkit gave Raggedkit a big grin, full of crooked teeth. “Welcome to the right side of history, Raggedkit! Now, the plan...”
...Wait. The plan wasn’t going to work if there were only two of them. Who would hold back the queens in the nursery while someone else stood guard by Jetstar’s den? Had the higher-ups foiled Coralkit’s plan before it could even begin...?
But leaders of revolutions didn’t let anyone see cracks in their armour, so Coralkit blinked and shook her head. “Never mind. I got a whole new plan.” She looked around the den for inspiration, her eyes falling on the fresh-kill pile just barely visible outside. “...Tell me, Raggedkit. Young Raggedkit. My apprentice, my follower, my comrade. What does everyone in SpringClan love to do, no matter how old they are?”

Softpelt walked past the nursery, her ear swiveling towards it and she turned to the two kits talking animatedly. The fluffy white she cat let out a purr. "Aww, they're playing so nicely." She said, humming to herself as she carried on past the nursery, carrying a basket full of herbs. Though she had stepped down she still was simply too used to going to get herbs and found herself doing so after a hunt or patrol.
"Maybe I should get them a moss ball, give them a nice toy for playing so well with each other." Softpelt mused to herself.
"Oh, I know, I know!" She didn't need to announce it this time, considering Coralkit's eyes were already upon her. Being that it was just the two of them and whatnot. But that fact seemed to escape the admittedly dimwitted tabby, so again that little paw rose and again she awaited an acknowledgement, upon which she chirped, "Tag! I looooove to play tag all the time and I heard the warriors like to chase other cats too!"
Coralkit was about to growl out a snappy retort, but bit it down when she noticed how excited Raggedkit had become at the mere mention of tag. "...Yup. Tag. That's what I meant," she said. "And what's the second thing everyone loves? Food. I say we play a little game of tag with the fresh-kill pile and the higherups, maybe not give it back to them until they give us what we..."
Coralkit stopped in her tracks suddenly, her fur standing on end. Softpelt had just walked past the nursery--could she be a spy?! Sure, maybe she'd stepped down, but she used to be a higherup, which means she couldn't be trusted. "I MEAN, WE WILL BEGIN TO PLAY TAG AND DO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ELSE," she said in the loudest voice she could muster, winking at Raggedkit--although she'd never really been able to wink, so it was more like blinking.
If she noticed the moment between where Coralkit spoke deviously and when her volume increased, which she probably didn't, Raggedkit certainly gave no indication and kneaded her paws excitedly. "Oh, oh! Great idea, Coralkit! I love tag! I wish I would have thought of that- but you're it!" She swatted her denmate and then turned to make her quick escape, though so distracted by glancing over her shoulder that she slammed right into Softpelt's leg and emitted a sharp 'oof!'
Softpelt turned when Raggedkit collided with her leg, letting out a mrrow of amusement. "Oo, careful there little Raggedkit." Softpelt meowed setting down the herbs she'd gathered and turning to the kit. She picked her up by her scruff to help her back onto her paws. "There you are."
She looked at the kits. "Hmm, it's a bit tight for a game in camp." She mused noting other cats out and about. "Would you like to come with me to the old space we used to use for kitten class? There's a bit more space there."
Coralkit stifled a gasp, her eyes widening at Softpelt's words. The she-cat was acting all nice and playing up the concerned-SpringClan-member angle, but Coralkit had heard what the older cat had said plain as day--she was going to take them away and get rid of them forever! Truly, the evil of SpringClan knew no bounds. (There was also the fact that Coralkit was mad she was It. She hated being It.)
"Raggedkit, run!" she shrieked, her plans for revolution momentarily forgotten at Softpelt's definitely-a-threat. "She's going to disappear us! Grab some food and run!" She narrowed her eyes at Softpelt, before booping the older she-cat lightly on the leg. "AndalsoSoftpeltnowyou'reIt!"
Softpelt was so nice and kind for offering to-- "O-oh. Oh, no." Eyes widening, tail fur fluffing out, Raggedkit (who, a moment ago, was purring and basking in the warrior's kindness) was backing away until a safe enough distance (one step) was secured so she could turn tail and flee. "CORALKIT I DONT WANT TO DISAPPEAR! SAVE MEEE!" She was too young to die! Tears flowed freely down her face, the kitten blindly running in every direction except, honestly, away from the supposed danger.
Which caused her to, again, run into Softpelt's leg. She sniffled up at the face that was most certainly the last one she would ever see. "I don't wanna disappear," she wailed in a way that would shatter glass.
Softpelt drew back startled by the kits wailing. "Disappear?" She echoed bewildered.
"Oh-oh don't cry dear!" She said quickly bending down to give Raggedkit a few licks on the head. "Nonono, I just know there's a better spot to play at! If you didn't want to go you can absolutely stay here! No one is going to be disappeared." She assured the kit.
Coralkit cringed and covered her ears at the sound of Raggedkit's wailing, which might've been the loudest thing she'd ever heard in her admittedly short life. Could be a useful weapon in the future, she thought, if I could somehow get used to it.
"Raggedkit, do you really believe that?" she called out. "Think about what we're fighting for! Think about all the hard work we've been doing these past few minutes! Do you really want it to go to waste? Don't you want a better future?!"
Softpelt looked even more confused. She wondered if perhaps Coralkit thought Raggedkit was playing. Telling the kit to please calm down wouldn't work. "Coralkit! I have a very important mission. I want you to go to the medicine cat den and ask Fawnheart or whoever's nearby for some moss. Can you do that important job for me?" She asked.
Hoping that by giving Coralkit something to do she could have a moment to calm Raggedkit down and then work out what was wrong.
Something snapped in Raggedkit just then, most likely her last remaining braincell, and she was a sudden flurry of flailing paws battering harmlessly against Softpelt. "Y-you leave Coralkit alone, you... you big fur! Coralkit," she howled at her partner in crime, "I have her cornered! Go, hurry!" She continued in her assault of the former medicine cat, but what she thought were formidable strikes were actually about as painful as pokes.
"Whoa!" Softpelt meowed, her concern rising. "Raggedkit, please stop! Oh dear, have you eaten something bad? That could explain the sudden hysteria..." She murmured while trying to bat down the kits paws that came too close to her eyes. Though the kits 'strikes' didn't really hurt. She didn't want to tempt fate.
Coralkit let out a victory screech--perhaps a little too early, but Raggedkit's breakthrough had encouraged her perhaps a little more than what was reasonable. "Nice, Raggedkit!" she yowled, bounding over to the fresh-kill pile and taking as much as she could carry, which wasn't that much considering she was a fairly small kitten. "I've got the goods, now let's go! Sorry Softpelt, no can do with the herbs thing--we've got a revolution to, uhh, do!" With that, Coralkit began to make her way to the camp entrance, considerably slower than she was before due to the prey weighing her down.
Softpelt couldn't let the little kittens run away. They could play their games of revolution but they had to stay inside camp.
The white fluffy she cat drew back from Raggedkit's bat, no longer bothering to block them. She gathered her muscles and leapt over the kit moving to catch up to Coralkit, bending her head down to snatch her up by her scruff.
While it was good the kits were engaging with each other and trying to have fun, there were limits.
As her friend was hoisted into the air, Raggedkit scampered after Softpelt to collect all the prey that dropped. Much of it was half her already diminutive size, but willpower was a funny thing in the way it lended strength where strength often was lacked. She waddled hurriedly toward the camp entrance in an effort to complete their mission, for Coralkit's sake.
In her mind she said a brief prayer of thanks for her fallen comrade's service. You'll never be forgotten, Coralkit! A single tear rolled down her cheek, but she had to stay focused.
