Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
"I was hoping you would have forgotten about that thing..." She scrunched her nose up as he moved it, the acrid smell wafting out now that there were air currents breezing through it. Maybe it would have been better to never have suggested taking it with them at all, apprentices be damned, but nonetheless she followed him at more of a distance now. She made mindless chatter and jibs the whole way there as Goldengriffon was preoccupied with carrying the smelly little den and could only shoot looks at her. "Alright, alright, we've made it. Now yeet that thing outta here and go drown-- I mean wash-- yourself in the river or something."
So busy complaining about the thing, Dancingdragon failed to note that underneath the scent cloying her nostrils, there were other strange smells accumulated here. Rogue scents, and they were too fresh and too many for it to have just been some passing by.

Goldengriffon nodded along as Dancingdragon rambled away. He found it harder and harder to focus until he finally began to bury the strange den. His pupils had started dilating, a reaction similar to any animal that partook in one too many fermented fruits. The pale tabby shook his head as he haphazardly buried the item. The tomcat shook his head briefly as he tried to focus on what he was doing. He tapped the ground once, twice, three times before he stood up with a slight stumble. Goldengriffon had to bite back a small laugh as he regained his balance. "I... well, I must say... I do believe it is a good thing... a good thing... what was I saying?" He questioned, swaying on his paws until he managed to fall back onto his haunches in an odd sitting position.
She hadn't noticed his staggered walk or dilated pupils until she finally turned to him, at which point her eyes narrowed. "A little early for that, don't you think?" Of course right after she gave him her blessing, the deputy began exhibiting the signs of indulging in what she assumed would be catnip or some other herb (and she also assumed that they came from Fawnheart's stock). "Really, Goldengriffon, stealing from the medicine cat? A new low," Dancingdragon lectured unsympathetically.
"Now... one moment." The deputy said as he ran a paw over his face. "I... when have you known me to.. partake in that..." Goldengriffon tried to stand back up only to stumble and fall onto his side. The pale tabby let out a soft laugh as he outstretched his limbs. He looked up cheekily at Dancingdragon, a sluggish smile pulling on his lips. "I... well... I do believe that... thing was the equivalent of... what is it... no no... don't tell me... afformented fruit! No..." He said with a small purr as he rolled onto his back. "Fermented fruit...! That's it! Good show old boy... oh look... is that a patrol up ahead?"
Dancingdragon was about to ream him out again when he mentioned a patrol. Her brow creased, perplexed; as far as she knew, she'd taken the last patrol out not long before accompanying the deputy out of camp. She glanced over her shoulder at where she could spy figures prowling towards them, and quickly she nudged a drunken Goldengriffon onto his unsteady paws. "Not a patrol-- rogues!" She hissed. "You're in no position to fight so cmon, hurry!"
"Looks like we huntin' today, boys!" One of the rogues threw back his head and howled his ecstasy aloud, signaling for his companions to give chase to the two pesky clan cats.

"Now, now." Goldengriffon slurred as he was pushed onto his paws. "No need for the rush Dragondancing... no, Dancingdragon, yes that's right." The deputy shook his head once more as he narrowed his dilated gaze onto the "patrol". "That's now way to speak of our clanmates... I know some are a bit soft but... oh.. well that's not a patrol at all." The deputy deadpanned as he stared at the group of rogues. How many were there... three? Twenty? The pale golden tom quickly slapped his cheeks a bit as the fur on his neck bristled. "No use trying to run now. I'll hold them off, you go get help. Unless that is you'll stay and fight with me."
They were gaining ground quickly, thundering towards the unlucky pair. With Goldengriffon refusing and stumbling around, there was little chance they would be able to escape unscathed; whether they ran or not, this was going to end in a fight. "I'm staying," she huffed, and turned to face the oncoming threat. To say she had any faith at all in them making it out of this would be an understatement. "There's four of them in total. Just...don't die," the warrior growled hotly to the drunken deputy.

"I can say the same thing to you." Goldengriffon said, still slurring his words as he tried to focus. The golden tabby bunched his muscles together before he lept forward. Keeping his balance was hard enough, but trying to fight while inebriated proved to be a much bigger problem. Goldengriffon was careless and clumsy, his attacks hardly landing as he fought off two of the rogues. However, by some miracle, he seemed to land a few good blows. His drunken strikes weren't restrained, showing how strong the deputy could be when he was unhinged.
She might have had time to register her shock if not for the onslaught of three of the rogues, and Dancingdragon was having a much more difficult time trying to strike, parry, and dodge despite the fact that, unlike Goldengriffon, she was not at risk of a ticket for fighting under the influence. She put up a valiant fight, however; even as one scooped her legs from beneath her and another used his weight to slam her to the earth, she went down spitting and clawing, scoring several hits on them before her paws were held down. "Get help!" she hissed at the deputy futilely.
She had imagined going out like this, like her brothers and her father before her. Mahoganyshade had been felled after taking down a painful of foes, and Fallingfrost and Burningskies met their fate at the claws of Primal Instinct hunters in their last attack on SpringClan. It was her legacy to die in battle, one she would accept with honor, knowing that her last act was in defense of the clan that was home to her family for generations.

Goldengriffon had succeeded in chasing one of the rogues off with their tail between their legs and had quickly sent the other one following its companion. The golden tabby was still spitting, his fur bristling on edge as his tail lashed violently behind him. It made the normally calm tom cat look absolutely feral. He spat on the ground once before he turned. His heart quickly dropped when he saw Dancingdragon pinned down by three other rogues. He hadn't heard her hissing at him to get help. Instead, Goldengriffon launched himself at the first rogue that was pinning her paws down. The deputy shook him roughly by the scruff in an effort to stun him before he turned back around and focused on the other two.
The pale tabby lept at them, dragging his claws down their face and side whenever he was able to get a hold of one them. There was a momentary pause as the three caught their breath, and Goldengriffon slowly backed up until he was standing protectively over Dancingdragon. He knew that the warrior wouldn't take kindly to that, and he'd deal with the backlash later. But for now he was focusing his attention on the two rogues.
In her weakened state she didn't wield the same vicious snark, instead brooding as the deputy shielded her from harm. Dancingdragon would deal with the aftermath of her self loathing later, but for now she would stay quiet and keep her head down.
Of the three rogues that had been pinning down the ivory feline, one had fled after his comrades, leaving only two staring down the blue-eyed tom. They sized him up, weighing their options and the chances of success they were faced with; they had the advantage of two on one, noting that one of the SpringClan cats had suffered a major wound, but the one left standing had thrown three of them off her in rapid succession. One of the rogues, a small black tom, seemed to be ready to back off, but his ruddy-furred companion appeared to have a little fire left in him. "Scared, pretty boy? You don't have to worry about your little mate if you wanna run back to your master like pathetic two-leg mutt. We'll take good care of her," he jeered. He hazarded a few arrogant steps towards the pair, eyes slipping down hungrily to Dancingdragon.
Dancingdragon, in the meantime, bristled in response but clamped shut on the insults she wanted to spit at him, all of which were certainly not PG.

Goldengriffon had held their gazes. His countenance remained calm as the other two sized him up. His tail continued to lash back and forth as he kept his claws unsheathed, his muscles tensed and ready to lunge if necessary. He glanced over at the small black tom. He seemed to be the same age as an older apprentice, and he hoped that the young cat knew that this was a fight he could not win. However, the arrogance and depravity of the other tom had Goldengriffon bristling with rage once more. His blue eyes turned icy as they narrowed into dangerous slits and he let out a feral growl that resonated deep within his stomach.
“Over my dead body.” He snarled as he crouched down. Goldengriffon lunged at the rogue, grabbing him by the throat and wrapping his paws around him as he used his body weight to throw the tom off his feet. The pale tabby rolled with the rogue, down a steep hill, spitting and snarling as he lashed out at him
Jagged rocks impaled the rogues skin, blood splattering across his chest and across Goldengriffon's fur, but adrenaline coursed through him and eradicated the pain shooting through him. He was woefully outmatched and the realization was beginning to dawn on him, his strikes at the clan deputy unable to inflict the same.damage he was receiving. When they came to a halt at the bottom of the hill, both roughed up by the fall, he extracted himself as quickly as he could and moved a distance away, appearing to be mustering up strength or courage or both-- and then he leaped again, clumsy and too soon, and his leap fell short of Goldengriffon, the ruddy cat skidding into the earth and gazing up with now widened eyes as he waited for his dooms.
His companion, the smaller ebony tom, made an attempt to jump down and come to his friend's aid, but he was stopped by a raging white lioness, who slashed his flanks and tore into his heels until he fled the scene entirely. With the last reserves of her strength slipping away, she nimbly trudged to look over the edge of the hill at the battle ensuing near the bottom. It stoked a fire in her-- a fury at her uselessness, her inability to carry on, and she gritted her teeth knowing Goldengriffon was the one protecting her.

Goldengriffon’s sides heaved as his muscles rippled under his dirtied coat. His normally warm blue eyes had taken an iced gleam to them, pupils narrowed into dangerous slits as he glared at the tom. A low growl escaped his throat as he watched the rogue barrel towards him, falling before him. The deputy debated putting him out of his misery right then and there. He was a threat, dangerous. The rogue had no problem with killing it seemed. But the golden tabby was better than that. The deputy pressed his paw down against the back of the tom’s head, pressing it down into the ground as he bent low.
“I’m showing you just a bit of mercy this once.” He whispered lowly. “Just once. But if I see you in my territory again, if I see you bristle a single hair towards one of my clan mates again, then I will send you straight to the dark forest where you belong.” Goldengriffon warned, digging his claws into the back of his head just to send the point home before he released him
He felt the ground dig into his chin and the sides of his face, blood pooling into his fur, and he quivered as the clan cat's breath grew hot against his ears, the warning filled with malicious intent. The threat wasn't taken loosely. "O-okay," he wheezed, and then scrambled to his feet to make his retreat.
By the time Goldengriffon made it back up the hill, Dancingdragon was able to pull herself to her paws, a testament to the sheer amount of willpower she had to override the fatigue she felt. She eyed him imperially, almost seeming ready to make a snide remark, but her maw softened fractionally and she said instead, "Thank you. I would be meeting my family today if it wasn't for you." The words appeared to take some effort to say, but they were genuine all the same.

Goldengriffon waited, watching as the rogue fled, just to make sure that he wouldn’t make a come back once the deputy turned his back. Once he was satisfied, the golden tabby looked up towards the hill that he’d have to trek up. His muscles clenched at the thought, but there was no other way to get back up to Dancingdragon. “Alright, Goldengriffon...” He muttered to himself as he started to climb up the steep hill. “Just take it slow...”
His muscles burned like hot fire by the time he managed to get to the top of the hill. The deputy couldn’t help but collapse once he finally reached the top of the hill. With the adrenaline now gone the deputy’s world spun viciously. He needed to get to a spring or a river... his blue eyes were a bit glazed over as Dancingdragon approached him, and he had to squint to stop seeing double. His ears twitched at her words, and a soft smile spread across his face. “Gratitude? For me? Did those rogues hit your head a bit to hard?” Goldengriffon teased lightly, slowly rising to a sitting position. The tom leaned forward, pressing his head against her shoulder before he fell back down. “Come now... you didn’t really think I’d let you fight alone...”
She'd wanted to maneuver down the hill and help him up, but some Instinct kept her feet rooted to the ground, watching his ascent from afar with her heart hammering in her chest. It stilled when he finally crested over the top, a deep exhale released. "You're right-- I should be thanking the rogues for keeping you occupied. It was nice and quiet before you got here," she snickered, but she moved closer to allow him to lean on her, beginning to guide them towards the lake nearby. The water was tranquil and undisturbed, unlike the two battle-battered clan cats that collapsed on the bank in a heap of gold and white fur.
Dancingdragon remained quiet for a while, letting the birdsong fill the silence between them as they both gathered their strength. When she spoke again, there was no heat or thorniness to her voice, only curiosity. "I've tormented you our whole lives, but you put yourself in harm's way for me today. Why?" She scanned his features while he considered his answer, not a single flicker of emotion going unnoticed.
Goldengriffon was thankful that Dancingdragon had taken the lead. Right before he collapsed next to white-pelted trusted, Goldengriffon had drank as much water as he could stomach before he splashed some on his face. With droplets still sliding off his whiskers the deputy had quickly settled down close to Dancingdragon, his pale fur brushing against hers while his limbs spread out across the grass. He couldn't remember a time where he felt more at peace. His muscles certainly thanked him as they finally started to relax. The tabby was nearly on the verge of sleep, lulled by the bird song and the comfortable silence that hung between them. But his ears twitched at her question. It had taken Goldengriffon off guard. His eyes slowly opened as he turned to look at her.
"Why?" He echoed, slowly rolling onto his belly. "Well... hmm... well, why wouldn't I? I'd be a poor deputy if I just abandoned a clanmate to fight alone like that... regardless of what our past may be, Dancingdragon, I wouldn't hesitate to put my life on the line to protect you. Not that I believe you need protecting of course!" Goldengriffon said quickly. "You are, of course, a strong and capable warrior. You've certainly beaten me a time or two... or twenty, with your sheer wit alone. I... I believe I've gone off track..." He said as he quickly cleared his throat. "...I've always respected you, Dancingdragon. Since we were apprentice's I've always admired how determined and ambitious you are. The tormenting in truth did bother me when we were younger but... I came to enjoy it as we grew older. I just never really admitted it, I just learned how to go at it tit for tat with you... I guess what I'm attempting to say through all this fumbling is that I don't want to lose you... in any way. I want to wake up expecting your teasing, and competitive air... I want to wake up seeing you as lively as ever.."
Her whiskers twitched, amused, at the way he backpedaled. She had opened her own mouth to protest something fiery about how she didn't need anyone to protect her, but Goldengriffon gave her more credit than she apparently gave him, and that fact silenced her long enough for him to continue. She felt heat climb to her cheeks, the white fur scarcely concealing the pink tint. It was several long, pensive moments before Dancingdragon broke the comfortable silence between them, wryly noting how he started again, her voice drawing him back from the brink of sleep a second time. "I was only mean to you because I liked you, y'know. I was always jealous of you. You were always so much nicer than I could ever be. My family has been in SpringClan for longer than I could begin to fathom, but when I think of what it means to be a true SpringClan warrior, I think of you." She blushed a deeper shade of red and glanced away, focusing as intently as she could on the ripples on the surface of the lake, but she did lean closer to him as she did so. "You know, my brothers used to tease me and say I had a crush on you, and I think I just picked on you because I didn't want them to know they were right..."

Goldengriffon had been nervous. Very nervous. His tail hadn't stopped twitching. He wasn't exactly sure what Dancingdragon would do with the information he had just bestowed upon her. Usually, she would have jumped in to interrupt him by now but she had remained quiet. He wasn't sure if that was a good sign or not. The deputy swallowed his nerves, doing his best to convince himself that the silence was good. It meant she was listening... even if he botched it up. No, no... things would be fine. He didn't make that much of a fool out of himself, right?
But her next words floored him. The deputy looked as though he were a dumbfounded apprentice once again. He had expected many things, but certainly not that. It was Goldengriffon's turn to blush at the high praise. Here he was, still doubting himself as deputy, while Dancingragon admired him "Me?" He questioned stupidly before he shook his head. "I mean.. well I... you see..." The deputy let out a sheepish laugh as he looked towards the sky, especially when she had leaned against him. "I'm glad they were right." Goldengriffon finally said. "We make a pretty good team, after all. Even back then it seemed. There's no one else who could keep me on my toes the way you do."
