Pollendrone wasn't completely satisfied with Weeds answer, but she decided not to push it further for now, she would have plenty of time to dig into her odd behavior now that she was free of the prison. It would have been left at that but Lionprides comment had the she-cat looking at him with a questioning gaze, her mate was acting strange. "What do you mean Lionpride? Why is everyone acting so weird?!" She pulled away from the tom, putting a small space between them. She just wanted to understand.

Weed could only feel guilt as she watched her friend. She had been foolish. The initiate should have known better than this. The mottled tortoiseshell slowly backed away from the pair, not wanting to cause them any more tension or awkwardness with her presence. “I’m sorry, again for interrupting.” She said softly. “I need to be going anyway. I have... well I have a lot of things to do before I turn in for the night.” Weed said quickly. “I’ll see you later, Pollendrone. It’s good to see you back in the sun again.” The dark she-cat didnt wait a second longer before she quickly turned and hurried away from the pair, escaping back into the clearing of the camp.

“Shadeflower...” he called out to her as she disappeared into the darkness, his throat tight feeing even more alone as Pollendrone pulled away from him. The cold of tunnel seeped into his frame ears falling back as the last of her disappeared. It took him a few moments to speak trying to collect his thoughts “Pollendrone... I know you are confused and I owe you an explanation...” he he paused, wanting to draw her In close but knowing that it would only make her more angry. He took in a deep breathe trying to calm himself “Before we agreed to become a real couple, I told you that before this arranged marriage I had my eye on someone else... It was Shadeflower” the last thing he wanted was to hurt her, but there really was no easy way to say this “When I first got thrown in prison before the announcement she would occasionally visit the prison to check in on me and the others. I don’t want to hide anything from you, I had a crush on her.... But that’s all that it was, I wasn’t even sure if she returned my affections. We never dated, or even told told her about how I felt” Lionpride sat down his eyes rising up to meet hers “I never wanted to hurt you or he Pollendrone. When I asked you to be my mate, I meant every word” he placed his paw gently onto hers but didn’t push getting to close “I never lied to you Pollendrone, I even told you about Shadeflower even though I didn’t say her name. Please don’t be angry...” his ears fell his eyes falling down to the ground “Pollendrone... I want to be with you”
Her mate calling out her best friends name had barely registered in her ears as she watched Shadeflower disappear, all she could manage to do it seemed was stare into the darkness with her ears tilted back slightly. Her attention remained that way until Lionpride said her name and her eyes drifted slowly to land on him, swirls of confusion and even curiosity in their brown depths. She didnt speak, only listened as he continued on, giving he what she thought she wanted and that was an explanation to the awkward scene that had just played out. "It was Shadeflower..." she whispered, she wasnt angry, she knew he had liked someone, but she never would have thought it would be Shadeflower. The two she-cats had grown close and Pollendrone was happy to finally have a friend she could talk about anything with. Why did it have to be her? Pollendrone snapped out of her thoughts, realizing she had been in a daze and offered Lionpride a soft but genuine smile. "I'm not angry Lionpride, and I know you never lied to me. I.." she paused trying to find the words she wanted to say. "I just didnt expect it to be Shadeflower, she looked so hurt." Her brown gaze traveled back to the darkness where the other she-cat had vanished, her scent still lingering in the air but fading in her absence.

Lionpride really didn't know what to say, she said she wasn't mad but it didn't change the expression on her face. To be fair, he hadn't even known that the two of them were friends, much less how close they had grown to one another. At least she had believed him, even if it didn't ease the tightness in his chest "I should go and talk with her later..." he trailed off, looking to Pollendrone for approval. He didn't want to hurt either of them, but it seemed as if it was to late for that. Weed had run off in tears and even through her kind words, Lionpride could see the pain underneath. The last thing he wanted to do was make things any worse, but leaving things the way they were was out of the question as well
Pollendrone nodded slowly, still trying to unravel the new twist of emotions she was fighting. "That sounds like a good idea, I hope she is okay.." she hated seeing her friend hurt and would even go as far to say if she had know about the two of them she would have never allowed things to go so far, between Lionpride and herself, but it was far beyond that point now. She looked past her mate to the nest her father had created. "I'm tired, Lionpride." It was true, but mostly she wanted to think, she wanted to go after Weed but that probably wouldn't turn out well. "Can we go inside?" She asked, finally looking at him again. "We should eat too, before the food goes bad, dad would be sad if he knew we let it go to waste." That's it, change the subject, it wouldn't last but at least it would give them a moment.

"Of course" he moved forward until his fur brushed against hers, and his tail could wrap around hers. He gently licked her cheek, before walking back inside even though her request had caught him guard. Once she was inside, he let go for a moment to move the rock back into place to give them a bit of privacy, at least now the chances of someone stumbling in on them was a lot less and perhaps they could get some rest after the day's events. He laid down on the soft fur, wincing slightly and adjusting to keep off his sore shoulder and making room for Pollendrone to join him. The food was still warm, though not as hot as it would have been before the interruption. He pulled it down off the log so that they could lay down and eat
