"I brought you a present! You'll love it!" The tom was grinning as though he'd just brought home a turkey or even two of the birds. Pleased and not at all realizing that this was probably definitely not a good idea to have done. He reached inside and pulled out the tom he'd kidnapped, displaying him before his sister as the prize he meant him to be. "I found you a mate!"

The sound of voices caught Solemnenthrall's attention and he strained his ears to listen. Did he hear that right? OOF. He let out a shocked grunt as he was suddenly being pulled out into the daylight and in front of a familiar face.
Carvedsnow was too stunned to reply as a tom was dragged from the tree stump and placed in front of her. She stared blankly at his face until recognition dawned, and she remembered their conversation from just a few days ago. This was why Beetleboo had sprung up and ran off? He thought she was in love with this warrior?
"Beetleboo, what are you talking about?" she hissed. "He's not my mate! I've seen him once when I was just passing through! I am so sorry he called you out here for nothing," she sighed to Solemnthrall. She hadn't yet realized he came against his will - she just figured Beetleboo had talked the poor thing into tagging along.
"Ah! But he can be! Love can come later, but you should be happy, and he seems like he'll do! Better than cats like Funk!" Beetleboo thought it was a great reasoning, even if his sister wasn't seeing that. Surely, he didn't think they were in love now, but they could be, later. But at least until then she'd be happy with the handsome tom before them. The tom pushed the other closer to his sister, "just give it a chance. It'll be nice to have someone besides me to cuddle, no?" His usual wicked grin was on his face, well meaning but not quiet there as to why this wasn't a good idea and why it wouldn't work they way he'd imagined. Sure, he was slow sometimes, but this seemed like a good idea. Cravedsnow got her love life she was obviously craving, and this cat got a mate and cat as awesome as his sister. Simple as that!

"Uh... hello Carvedsnow. Good to see you." Solemnenthrall greeted hesitantly, blinking in confusion as she entered his view. Wait, love? What was this all about?
He glanced between the two cats in front of him, utterly confused. His head tilted to the side and he let out a sigh. "Beetleboo, you realize that you could have just asked me to come here? No need to tie me in a tree. Also, we are from two different clans... How would that work out?" Plus, there probably isn't a cat who could really love a gloomy cat like me. He flicked his tail to dismiss the thought not realizing that he didn't actually say those words out loud so the tail flick just looked like a nervous twitch.

The bishop's ears pinned back and she grew more and more embarrassed the longer Beetleboo spoke. "I like cuddling with you," he confessed in a whisper, "We used to as kits. I didn't know it bothered you, I can stop." She didn't even want to look at Solemnthrall now. What was he thinking? Was he laughing at the sad tale her brother was telling? Did he think she wanted this to happen?
"No need to tie me to a tree..." she echoed quietly, and then it clicked. Carvedsnow's head jerked up in horror. "You kidnapped him? Beetleboo, you can't do that! Leviathan is going to shred your ears, and I'm going to lose my job. You can't do this like this? I'm so, so sorry," she cried out, exasperated, as she turned to the FallClan warrior finally. Her fear was temporarily held back by this recent turn of events. "I swear, I'm not in love with you, and I didn't know this was going to happen. Please accept my forgiveness, I'll take you back to FallClan and talk to Hystericstar with you, and then you never have to look at me again," she assured him helplessly.
Beetleboo tilted his head in wonder and thought at what the other tom had to say. Ask him? It was all supposed to be a surprise so there was no way he could have asked anyone anything. And how would it work out? Well obviously Solemnenthrall would be living in MoonClan now. He could travel with Cravedsnow on all her trips and the two could be all cutesy and in love. "Well, you'll live here of course. With Cravedsnow and I. You're family now. What aren't you understanding? You're to be her mate and she your mate. Common, sis I know your smarter than that. This tom...well, I don't know much about him but he seems lie a great guy." Why weren't they understanding what he'd done? He'd found them both a lover and someone who seemed like a good fit, and definitely wasn't Funk so what better could the other ask for?
His head shot over towards her sister when she said she'd stop cuddling him. She couldn't! That.. that was like a crime! He'd die without their cuddles. "No! I..I just thought that well, that you wanted a mate. You always stare off after the other couples and families and stuff and I know ours is small.....But I thought....." Was he wrong in what he'd thought? Is this not what she'd wanted? Beetleboo started to deflate like a kit being scolded for breaking the nest or something. And now she was mad at him too. He hadn't caused a prank in over a month, he'd been behaving himself and now he was in trouble for bringing her a tom to be her mate. This cat was way better than Funk or any one else. He'd spied on him to make sure! But hearing that she was gonna take him back to his clan, the MoonClan warrior rose up. His head was still bowed, some tears in his eyes at the frustration of his failed attempt at making his beloved sister happy, "you can't! He ahs to stay here! He ahs too!" Didn't she see? He'd be able to make her happy, or at least the two could learn to do that. Beetleboo had stopped his pranks to save his sister the embrassement of having to watch out for him and he was trying to be better, even if that meant he didn't feel liek himself. And now all that effort and time finding this tom was being thrown out the window because he'd messed up again.
Carvedsnow struggled to explain to her brother what he had done wrong. Where should she even start? His assumption that they'd just fall in love, or the idea this stranger would switch clans to be with her? He had made so many missteps in logic and action that she didn't know where to begin... especially because his speech made her heartache.
Her head dropped as she looked away, fiddling her paws. Had she been longing after other couples? She didn't think so, she was just trying to be attentive. Maybe she thought it would be nice to have a mate someday, but she knew that wasn't really an option for her. She didn't have the time for a relationship, she certainly didn't have the energy or understanding of how to be a good mate, and she wasn't very, well, loveable. Logically, she didn't believe she had much of a shot: she wasn't that pretty, she wasn't that interesting, and who wanted to be mates with someone one wrong step away from another coma?
"Beetleboo..." she sighed. She stepped back over to him and rested her chin on the top of his head. "I love you, and I'm really glad you tried to help me. But you can't make him stay here, he has a family too, back in FallClan. I'll find a mate some other way, okay? I'll try," she promised. "But Solemnthrall has to go home."
Beetleboo sighed, basically falling to the ground in a heap. He couldn't accept that. This tom was nice, and he seemed mature, put together well, so he had to stay. He'd be good for Cravedsnow. Didn't she get that? He'd honestly tried, really hard at that! The chocolate brown tom wasn't one for trying at anything but his pranks and jokes, so for him to have done this, and to the effort it'd taken him, was a great accomplishment for the tom. He turned his eyes on the cat he'd kidnapped, before sighing and turning his back on all of them. Beetleboo didn't wanna see her disappointed look anymore, he'd messed up again and she'd clean up his mess, like always. It never changed.

Solemnenthrall looked between the two, ears burning and an awkward feeling growing more and more as their conversation progressed. "Uh..." He tried to cut in once but they didn't hear. He glanced down at his paws until Carvedsnow addressed him again. "I understand. I have siblings and maybe they would do the same for me? Or maybe not..." He second guessed his words before sighing. "I mean, it's fine. There is no reason to go to Hystericstar. He probably doesn't even realize I'm gone." For some reason, he sounded disappointed. It was probably because this was the most exciting thing that has happened in the past few moons. Ever since being removed as a warrior, Solemnenthrall had found himself bitter, but he rarely let that show. "Wait, where are you going?"
"I'm sure he'll notice—" Carvedsnow began, but her voice trailed away. She had met Hystericstar before, though she doubted he would remember. It was a challenge to make any progress in their conversation, he truly did not seem to care about what she had to say, and she suspected he paid little attention to his warriors. Once, when she had visited, he had set up an entire camp for their apprentices to live in, and he hadn't gone to check on them once.
The white she-cat sighed, her black ears drooping. "I want to take you home, Solemnthrall," she murmured, "to your home, back in FallClan, I mean. And I will. If you don't want to talk to Hystericstar, we don't have to, but then you can never talk about what happened here." She looked at him, her voice firm. "I don't want my brother getting in trouble for kidnapping an enemy warrior."
She couldn't understand him. Why wasn't he upset? Why wasn't he more eager to go home? If she didn't know better, she would think he didn't want to leave at all.

"Right, of course." Solemnenthrall meowed quietly, kneading at the ground with his right forepaw and avoiding their gazes. He didn't know why his paws weren't heading straight home and why they didn't turn to go the minute he was released. The disappointment wasn't a foreign feeling. It was one he got each Gathering as each clan left to their own territories. Fallclan was kind to him and he had grown fond of the Nursery as an aid, but his heart longed to be among warriors. Would a life in Moonclan offer that for him? There was also the idea of having a mate that appealed to him, and Carvedsnow was a wonderful cat and everything someone would want in a partner. It was as if this moment in time could change the definition of his future, but he knew it wasn't right to take it. "I, uh, sorry. I'm usually a little better with words. I should probably go back."
Beetleboo could just cry. He was so frustrated, he'd worked so hard to find this cat and now he had to leave. All because his sister didn't like his gift. Yeah, it was kind of dumb to kidnap the cat, but they were so good for each other! Didn't she see that?! With a sigh, the tom turned around, "do I have to go too? Or should I just stay here like the grounded kit I am?" Yeah, his words were a little mean, but he was frustrated and upset. He'd worked so hard for this, had stopped his pranks for this to be better! And all of his work was walking around, literally. "I mean, you're just walking home the cat I kidnapped, who is perfect for you by the way!" So what if he sounded like a scolded kit, he'd make his opinion known, espeically since he'd probably be sent home like the scolded kit he was acting like. No dinner and straight to bed, he could see it now. Plus that disappointed look Cravedsnow would give him for weeks to come. Beetleboo probably wouldn't be allowed to go to the next gathering either.
He should probably go back. What did that mean? Carvedsnow slipped closer to the FallClan cat and tipped her head to the side as she studied him, his soft golden gaze melting away her mounting frustrations. "Right," she murmured. Something familiar in his eyes resonated within her, almost like he felt the same desperation she did, the same feeling of not quite belonging, the guilt that came with it when she was surrounded by a loving family. But he was so hard to head, she couldn't discern if she saw the truth or if she was just unfairly projecting her own feelings onto him.
Then her brother spoke, and the spell was broken. She stepped away and shook her head slightly. Here was her priority, her brother. He had meant well, even if it backfired, and she loved him for it. She just wished he had a little more sense. One of these days, he might help himself into real trouble, and what if she wasn't there to get him out? Already she knew she could lose her job for this situation, she wouldn't hesitate to take the blame if her leader found out.
"You can stay here and go tell our father what you'd done, see what he thinks," Carvedsnow replied sternly. He needed to be held accountable, and she was perfectly capable of walking the handsome stranger home. "But first, you're going to apologize to Solemnthrall."
