Soullesskit wandered around the camp as she usually did. The silver and grey tabby moved from cat to cat looking for someone to pay attention to her, but more or less everyone cleared away from the kitten as she approach. Some had a few choice words for her, others didn't, but they treated her like she her mother: a demon. She let out an exasperated sigh as she settled down in one corner of the camp alone, and winced as she lay down. She could feel where her foster mother pushed her head into frozen earth for being herself, and other signs showed on the kit. Little cuts scattered the kittens pelt, but despite that she still had an optimistic flair in her eyes as she surveyed the camp.

Breezing out of the warriors den came a cloud of cream and white fur, long and soft like the down feathers of a bird. Jiltedlynx strolled confidently to the fresh kill pile and selected a rabbit, carrying her meal to a nice spot she laid down and gave her surroundings one last glance, radiant blue eyes glimmering, before she focused on her food.

Soullesskit's eyes followed the she-cat as she went from her den to the fresh-kill pile and to her spot. The rabbit made her mouth water. Dottymask never let her get food as plump as that. Dottymask always made sure she and her sibling got the barebones mice and other small creatures that barely looked alive themselves, so the kitten just watch the she-cat eat her prey with some mix of curiosity and jealousy in her eyes.

Feeling eyes on her Jiltedlynx stopped midbite and looked up scanning the camp. When she spotted Soulesskit she tilted her head. She could see the hunger in the kits eyes and the jealousy as well. She furrowed her brow in confusion. Why would the kit be hungry like that? Standing she picked her food up and carried it over to Soulesskit and dropped it at her feet. "I can feel your eyes on me little one." She leaned down to be at the kit's level, her blue eyes icy but with the smallest hint of warmth in them. She was this kit at one time or another for disobeying her mother.
As soon as the she cat started walking over Soullesskit turned away. Usually, this meant a beating was coming. Her adopted mother didn't care. Dottymask encouraged it. The pawsteps kept getting closer and closer. Then they stopped. She heard a thud as something hit the ground. She slowly turned around to see the rabbit in front of her, and no claws reaching for her face. Her muscles relaxed as she took a few steps forward. "Th-thanks." She reached forward and took a small bite out of the rabbit. "I'm Soullesskit. You are..."

"Jiltedlynx." She replied as she sat down and let her perfectly groomed fluffy tail curl over her paws. She was quite beautiful, something her mother had wanted her to use to her advantage. And she had at first. Jiltedlynx knew she was beautiful. She also knew she could come off as a major B with an itch. She softened her expression a bit as she watched the kit intently. "Why did you turn away like I was going to hurt you Soulesskit?"
Savoring the taste of the meat in her mouth, she took another bite of the rabbit. It was far better than anything she had eaten in a long time. She looked back up at the she-cat with some confusion in her eyes. "I'm a demon, at least that's what Wintrystar says. I don't deserve to be here, but she let me and my siblings live." She took another bite out of the rabbit. "But... yeah. I just thought your were gonna beat me like Howlingnight or everyone else."

Jiltedlynx snorted. "Kid if you're a demon then I must be an angel. You're a kit. You deserve to be here just as much as any of the other kits." Her tail lashed angrily for a moment before she gave her fluffy chest a few licks and took a deep breath. "Kits shouldn't be beaten...ever." she said firmly. "It's not right. The Goddess would never approve of this..." She shook her head sadly and sighed as she remembered a few times her mother had told her the Goddess didn't care for her. No. She knew she did. Jiltedlynx knew the Goddess had her paws on her, as well as this little kit.
She rolled her eyes. "Then you must be an angel." She pushed the rabbit back towards Jiltedlinx. "My mother was a demon, so I'm a demon. I can't do much about that, but I can try to live." The silver-grey tabby kitten rose sat up, and it became apparent how large she was for her age despite being underfed and beaten. At the same time, some of her more recent wound opened up again and blood trickled down her coat. "I'd just go away. I don't wanna get you in trouble. Silverfury and Dottymask aren't really that happy with me, and I don't wanna get you involved because..." Her voice trailed off. "Are you a pureblood?"

Jiltedlynx scoffed. "Of course I'm a pure blood. And listen here little demon ." She lowered herself to look Soulesskit in the eyes her own blue ones flashing in the light trickling into camp. "Don't you worry about me. I can handle myself. I have since I was your age. You and me aren't as different as you think." She rose back up and stood up. "Now. Can you sneak out of camp?" She asked with a raised brow as if doubtful but trying to give the kit a challenge to rise to.
Just like the rest of them. Some fear flashed in her eyes as Jintedlinx said that she was a pureblood. Soullesskit had nothing but bad experiences with them. Her entire 'family' consisted of purebloods, and they were nothing but cruel to her. No way she would trust another to lead her out of camp. It was probably gonna be some joke. She looked away and pushed the rabbit back to the warrior. "No thanks. I should probably get going..."

Jiltedlynx snorted. "Suit yourself kid. You don't want the food. Fine. That's your choice." She shrugged and left the rabbit sitting there as she turned and trotted off out of camp.
Her interaction with Jintedlinx quickly faded in her memory. It was another beating or prank avoided to Soullesskit, and that was a win. The next day she slept in a little to late and missed her usual breakfast with her siblings. She poked her head out of the den, and to her delight the camp was empty. Her gilded reptilian green eyes made out a few apprentices, but they never bothered her that much. Usually. The silver and grey tabby kitten slid out of the nursery and towards the fresh-kill pile.
As she neared the pile a dark figure stepped in front of her and swatted her to the side, claws unsheathed. She hit the ground with a thud and could taste the blood in her mouth. She looked back to her aggressor. She recognized him... Kvalun. The apprentice always followed Howlingnight around. Not unlike her, his pelt was covered in deep gashes, but he wore them with pride. He snarled at the kitten. "Whelp. Get out of my way." He never treated her like this before... he was always so nice. Soullesskit did her best to stay down as the abuse kept raining down in words and claws.

"That is enough!" The words were snarled with barely contained rage. The usually beautiful she-cat lips were pulled back in a snarl, her long white teeth glinting. Her fluffy tail lashed back and forth her hackles raised. "You will not abuse a kit in my presence. I don't care what you think of her. I do not care what Winterystar says she is. None of that matters to me. Kits are kits. And while I breathe they are off limits for you to abuse." With every sentence that streamed out of her mouth she took a step toward the apprentice, placing herself in front of Soulesskit.
The charcoal bengal reared back as the warrior stepped in. No one, not even their mother, stepped in. Who did she think she was? Kvalun's fur stood on end while she kept talking. He looked between her and the kitten and just sighed. "Fine. Shame though. I didn't think you'd want to help someone like her." He twirled around and went back towards a group of apprentices.
Soulleskit had hunkered down for the beating at hand. And then she heard that voice, that familiar voice. She opened her eyes to see the dark apprentice padding, and Jintedlinx standing in front of her. Confusion swamped her gaze as she stared up to the warrior with her reptilian green eyes. "Why did you do that?"

Jiltedlynx took a deep breath and turned around to look at the kit. "I told you before. We aren't so different. I used to be like you Soulesskit. No one stood up for me. I didn't have anyone. I won't let that happen to someone else." Her eyes had watered, just for a moment but she took another breath and sat down, giving her pristine chest fur a few licks. Blinking back the emotions she schooled her face again back to calm, fierce and beautiful as always. Just like her mother taught her...just like she beat into her.
Soullesskit could not even look at her. It just sounded too good (or bad?) to be true. How could Jintedlinx, a pure blood, know what she was going through? There was no way the Clan saw her as a demon when she was young. She shook her head. "How? You're pure blood. Why would no one stick up for you? I know my 'mother,'" The last word came out with obvious venom attached. "would stick up for you if you were a kit. No one stands up for me. I have tainted blood because I was born to a demon." Some part of her wanted to believe Jintedlinx, but everything else screamed at her to get away while she could.

"Both of my parents abused me. My mother still tries. She was the only one to beat me if I failed in her expectations..but my father was equally emotionallyy and mentally abusive. They called me worthless if I messed up in their eyes...among other things. No one stood up for me because my parents were from long lines of pure blood. Some of the longest. They didn't see my abuse as that..they saw it as parents disciplining their only kit." Jiltedlynx said as she gazed off in another direction...the elders den...where her mother now resides. But then she looked away and back at the kit.
She fell silent as she listened to what the warrior had to say. Maybe Dottymask was doing the same with her new litter? She had done her best to avoid the new ones, but maybe her foster mother was just that way. Like Jintedlinx's parents. She slowly raised her head to meet the warrior's gaze in one final check of the warrior's intent, and she believed it. She knew Jintedlinx's look to the elder's den. She and her siblings had that same kind of look. "I'm sorry that I doubted you." She mewed before glancing at the camp's exit. "So... do you still wanna ditch this place?"

The beautiful ragdoll smiled. "Unfortunately I'm not keen on leaving just yet. But I will make sure you are done being abused. I have a loyalty to the Goddess to stay." She said. She stood and corralled the kit with her fluffy tail to conceal her and walk with her out of the camp. "Let's get you something to eat huh?"
